Quote of the Day 11-13-10
He understood the promise of science – the Holy Father himself was stricken with Parkinson’s. Yet he was firm in his view that human life must be protected in all forms. I thanked him for his example of principled leadership. I explained that the Catholic Church’s steadfast support of life provided a firm moral foundation on which pro-life politicians like me could take a stand. I told him I hoped the Church would always be a rock in the defense of human dignity.
~ President George W. Bush on his meeting with Pope John Paul II in 2001, writing about his decision to ban taxpayer funding of human embryo experimentation in his book, Decision Points

Wow! Just wow! Wonderful post, thank you so much! Really touched my heart!
See, I always knew there was something I liked about W.
Jesus asked Peter three times, Do you love me? Peter replied, You know I do. Jesus told him, Feed my sheep. and he told him, You are my rock. Upon this rock I will build my church.
George W. Bush: a man who happily oversaw thousands of executions as governor of Texas and initiated two wars in the space of two years. A true Warrior for Life™, that man.
not 100% pro-life – and not for federal dollars for human embryo experimentation (ESCR) and not for abortion. At least the not for abortion and ESCRwas trying to not cause human death. Imperfect – but better than for continued war, abortion and ESCR -like our current president.
I’m sure you would fault President Obama for continuing the wars instead of stopping them. another Warrior for Life, that man too.
When we can easily devalue human life in its most vulnerable forms – in the pre-born, the disabled, the elderly and in the ‘science’ of ESCR, it should not surprise us that it’s easier to devalue human life in other ways also.
argh. he’s Texan! he protects innocent human life, okay?
If you are guilty, then you are facing a punishment of the state. If you are in the military, you are under military ethics. G*d used our military as an instrument of righteous punishment against an unholy, predatorial leader.
It’s a complex world. W stood up for the innocent and helpless. I am so grateful he was able to be grateful and honorable to the pope.
