Quote of the Day 2-21-11
“It was a very emotional moment, and even though we didn’t speak to each other, we were both thinking about the time it took. We are very lucky, very privileged and very fortunate to have these boys.”
~Rene Angelil, husband of singer Celine Dion, US Magazine, February 19

US Magazine actually looks like it is attributing that quote to her husband, Rene Angelil.
While I am grateful for the lives of these little boys, I find it heartwrenching that it had to come after so many lost lives through IVF.
MaryRose, you’re right, it was her husband. I’ll go in and fix that. Thank you!
:) No problem-o
Thanks, Kel.
Was done in a rush, as has been made obvious.
I was pass thru channels today and saw part of this on Oprah (I don’t like to watch it but sometimes want to see what’s going on in the “other”part of tv land. I saw part of the show that covered the 6 babies that were born to an African-American couple after they did IVF once (and lost the babies after they were born – how sad and gut-wrenching) and then they had IVF again and had 6 babies. I just kept thinking how Oprah oo’d and ah’d about these babies and if it was an mom considering abortion, would she have done the same….the couple had a remarkable story of rising out of poverty in Ohio and I applaud them. However, IVF doesn’t solve infertility issues. My husband and I struggled with infertility due to my abortion and we chose to never use IVF (we are Catholic and would not anyway despite many Catholics that do). We ADOPTED instead. What a blessing. I couldn’t watch more after I heard about the IVF so tuned it out. Wish Oprah would do a show on post-abortive women and men!
Thanks for sharing that, Nicole.
I hope your adopted son/daughter helps to ease the pain of your first child’s loss.
Sincere Congrats on the two that made it! Prayers and love for them, and the discarded ones, the sibs who didn’t get a chance.
With such ridiculous looking boobs, Celine has a great built in hands-free portable mic stand so she can hold her baby. Tee hee.
