Bob McDonnell has signed legislation to step up regulations on abortion clinics: The law requires clinics that offer 1st-trimester abortions to meet the same health standards required of hospitals. The fringe of the pro- “choice” movement?

You can imagine my excitement when over the course of a few months, I landed interviews at many of the big pro-choice organizations here…. But each interview ended with some version of this: “I’m sorry, but you are too radical/too much of an activist to work for us.”… At one particular organization, a senior executive [...]

Priceless: Pro-aborts to protest Joe Scheidler tribute

UPDATE 3/30, 6:15a: I received a note from pro-life’s Great One, Joe Scheidler. He tried to post a note on the Facebook page touting the protest planned against him, but it was promptly removed. Here’s what he told me he wrote: Jill, I posted a nice, polite message to the pro-aborts who plan to picket [...]

Lunch Break: “Baby Jessica,” age 25, to inherit trust fund

To give us a break from the daily grind… I heard this past weekend that Jessica McClure Morales (aka “Baby Jessica”) turned 25. That milestone was not surprising to me as I remember her dramatic rescue from the underground shaft. However, what did surprise me was that reaching her milestone birthday now gives her access to a [...]

Remembering Geraldine Ferraro

Geraldine Ferraro was a huge part of EMILY’s List from the beginning — from before the beginning, when our founders helped work to secure her nomination. She shared a house with Barbara Mikulski, the first Democratic woman elected to the Senate in her own right, and Barbara Kennelly, the first woman Chief Majority Whip — [...]

Stanek Sunday funnies 3-27-11

Following are 2 political cartoons related to the pro-life issue this week, particularly intriguing because they were both both penned by liberals. I mentioned March 18 that pro-aborts have displayed a surprisingly muted response to the tsunami of pro-life legislation introduced in various states after a superfluity of pro-lifers was elected in November. Now, Tom [...]

J LoughnerOne of the school’s deans reported to police a teacher’s concern about Loughner responding to a classmate’s poem about abortion.

“… Loughner had made comments in the class about abortion, wars, killing people, and ‘why don’t we just strap bombs to babies,’” the police report says. “[The dean] said that Loughner has a ‘dark personality’ and is kind of ‘creepy’ and they had resolved to just keep an eye on him.”

Still, a later report by Aubrey Conover, an “Advanced Program Manager” at Pima College, described talking with Loughner about his in-class abortion comments.

“He said that the class had been talking about abortion, which made him think of death, which made him think of suicide bombers, which made him think of babies as suicicde (sic) bombers,” that letter states. “We talked about how you need to give context to you (sic) statements, especially when deal (sic) with emotional issues. Jared said he would not say anothing (sic) in class.”
