President Obama not exactly a fan of large families
Can I just ask before I answer, though, is there some rule at Gamesa that you got to have a whole bunch of kids? I mean, you got 10 over here, you got 7 over here. Golly.
~ President Barack Obama at an April 6 townhall meeting in Pennsylvania, via Sheya blog, April 6
Discussion begins at 2:45…
Of course he isn’t, he’d prefer that children be aborted or left in a closet to die shortly after they are born.

PBO – news for you – they don’t just have a lot of kids – they’re all clinging to their Bibles and their guns too!
He gives the huge impression that he never has come close to connecting with the American people outside his intellectually elite cone of silence.
Love it that when given the opportunity, the American people are asking the questions that the sycophantic media won’t ask.

After watcing the full video, I was left wondering if after the presidency he might try the stand-up comedy circuit for awhile.

I watched that whole video and his remarks and behavior were insulting, condescending, tacky, and totally un-presidential. He was truly shocked that an American citizen had the temerity to ask him a thoughtful, intelligent question and expected him to answer it. He’s not accustomed to being asked thoughtful, intelligent questions by thoughtful, intelligent people who expect him to answer. He’s accustomed to being worshipped. His “bunch of kids” remark was rude and showed his true colors without a doubt.
He needs an eviction notice pronto.

this clip left me with the impression of what a pompous jerk this man is. He couldn’t even respond to the questions without poking fun at every individual who asked them. Furthermore, for all the flak President Bush got for his public speaking abilities our current President doesn’t seem to fare much better on the fly.

I agree with Jennifer. I cant stand how he tries to make a joke before answering every question. Stall tactic? Why is he so surprised people ask good questions? Oh, I forgot, he is the only one with any brains in America. *eyeroll*

In Obama’s mind there’s too many “mistakes” in Gamesa.

And the MSM mocks Sara Palin for appearing unprepared for presidential level discussions? Obviously in Gamesa, someone forgot to 1) bring the teleprompter, and 2) screen the questions beforehand.

Suppose he was a fan of large families. In other words, what should we expect someone who IS a fan of large families to have said? I can only speak for myself as a fan of large families, but I think a more appropriate reaction (if one MUST say something about it) is to mention how blessed the family is- to mention how it is such a shame that you don’t see families of this size anymore and how nice it is to see large families again.

I agree with Jennifer too. He needs to go.

This is just sad. Mr. President seemed personable enough, and you could see he was ill at ease. I felt bad for him. He is very unsure of himself with a live audience. He doesn’t think on his feet well. I don’t think he meant to be insulting. But when people feel intimidated, they tend to end up with “foot in mouth disease”. I think this is the case here. I am not an Obama fan at all. I think he is wrong in so many ways. But we should also have some compassion as Christians. He is a sad man who doesn’t do well in front of live audiences.
There are many people who are not fans of large families. I have 5 children myself, and have had people ask me if I were trying to re-populate the earth single-handedly. We are big enough to brush it off and go on. And just maybe he was secretly impressed that someone did what he obviously couldn’t! ;)

What a jerk.

How sad that instead of quietly thinking over the question and giving it the answer it deserved he stuck his big foot in his big mouth. Mr. President just answer the question!

Psalm 127:4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man;so are children of thy youth.

Why is it any business of his how many children people have?

In fairness to President Obama, although he handled the questions awkwardly, he did close the speech with “God bless you.” Whether sincere or not is not my place to judge. Entire transcript is here:

You know what President Sarah Palin would have said?
“Ten kids? Bless your heart, I’m halfway there!”
And she would have wiped the floor with those energy-related questions, yes she would.

And you know what President Donald Trump would have said?
“Ten kids? Yeah, I have a few of those myself.”
And he would have proceeded to give an intelligent answer. Probably not as detailed as President Palin would be on energy, but straight up, take it or leave it.
Take note: that was a Politico-edited clip, which is rather telling that they would highlight those awkward moments. Can’t blame Fox News, now, can we?

Eric has a point: he ended with “God bless you”, which is a decent way to end a public engagement.
God bless you, too, Mr. President.
And God bless those 17 kids.

I can’t believe he spent a good ten seconds waffling on about how unbelievable it is that someone asked him an intelligent question. How does he fit through doors with an ego that size?

For all the pro-aborts he has elected he and there and all he’s done to keep abortion AND INFANTICIDE legal I’m convinced Michelle has had an abortion and this is their way of telling themselves it was okay.

To be fair, his answers were cut out- the video was edited to focus on his humor. He seemed a little less polished than usual, sure, but who wouldn’t be given the stress that he’s under (stupid Congress)? And it is difficult trying to come up with an eloquent, encompassing answer straight away- he was asked some tough questions (I don’t know about you, but I stumble over my own tongue all the time) and made some jokes to try and ease the tension that all Americans are under right now.

Stress? I’m sure another round of golf can take care of that.

Watched the clip, then read the transcript. I thought he did a fine job. He seemed more impressed with the large families than “not a fan.” Maybe a bit dismayed. As one with two kids, like him, it is hard to imagine such a houseful. “Golly,” indeed.

Ok. Let’s rewrite the heading to read: “President Obama impressively dismayed with large families”.
Given his track record and not wanting Sasha or Malia to be “punished with a baby”, I can’t bring myself to give him the benefit of the doubt this time around, Hal.
He is of hardy progressive stock, and golly, it shows.

You’re a bigger genius than you let on, Hal.

Remember, Obama sees babies as punishments (i.e. ‘I don’t want my daughters to be punished w/ a baby’).
So much for all his preaching about being ‘pro-choice.’
Selective Attention Disorder (SAD).

Hey, folks! Do you really believe that the only choices are to have a baby every year or habitually hire someone to rip fetuses out of wombs? There is such a thing as contraception and if employed regularly and responsibly, some are pretty effective. It is also possible to abstain or at least abstain from the sort of sex that produces pregnancies.
Nellie Gray is childless. I don’t think that means she has had abortions.

Oh come on – Obama said nothing against large families. He was surprised by the presence of two such unusually large families, as many people would be. I don’t know if he heard the number of kids that any other people there had, but the odds of meeting two American people in a row from households of 7 or more people are about 1 in 10,000, and thus to find families with 10 kids, then 7 kids is quite a bit more surprising than that.

If you could watch this video without knowing Mr Obama was our President, would you ever guess by his answers and comments, that he is a President of our USA?

Thomas, the video didn’t show his thoughtful answers. They were cut out. If you read the transcript, I think you’ll find that there is much to be proud of with our President.
