Pro-life vid of the day: Ted Turner – “Good” troops commit suicide
by LauraLoo
Last week Ted Turner was interviewed by Piers Morgan – so we already know this isn’t going to make a lot of sense.

Notice Ted was about to say it would be “terrific” – but quickly changed it to “good” – if our troops committed suicide.
Shame on you, Ted, for wishing our troops ill will, up to the point of suicide. If the U.S. doesn’t have a volunteer military, who is going to defend us and our interests? And who gives and protects our freedoms but God at work through our military?

The slippery slope is real, as if we needed proof of this. Ted and his fellow travellers who are radical pro-aborts are incapable of rational thought. First it is the unborn babies, next it is “death with dignity”, and now it is ”we are glad that soldiers are killing themselves”. Their hearts are dead to grace. Only a miracle can save them.

This is what happens when you blather something that you hope will show how good and noble and sensitive you are. It is what clouds the thinking of most abortion toleraters, who expect brownie points for caring about women, while they care nothing for baby girls.
Turner thought he would be seen as so nobly anti-war and violence by praising a soldier committing violence on himself. It’s the ultimate “baby and the bathwater” illogic.
This need to have your opinion validated has just tripped up two Republican Senate candidates. The more controversial the topic, the more we have to consider what we say.

While one could argue that he meant it is good that fewer troops are being killed in combat, the arrogance of his past comments indicate he meant US soldiers are killers and not as enlightened as he is and really should just kill themselves. Why he doesn’t see abortionists as killers, however, really doesn’t make sense.

On the other hand, it would just be a crying shame if Ted Turner committed suicide.

Dude, that’s screwed up. I realize what he was trying to say but no… it’s not “good” that anyone commits suicide. Much less a soldier, who might be struggling with PTSD or other issues while he or she is serving the country. I am really anti-war but I can’t imagine ever putting “good” and “soldiers committing suicide” in the same thought.

Jack,
I’ve been meaning to check out his buffalo burger joint, but I think I'[ll pass, now. I guess you wouldn’t have either for another reason! ;)

Lol, only if they had veggie burgers would I have gone there. But now I wouldn’t spend a dime there.

Weird and scary…the man doesn’t need to wear a Halloween costume to scare people, he just has to open his mouth and speak!
Selfishness plain and simple….the donation was just his way of buying a permission slip so that he can espouse his stupid ideas publicly.

New World Order? And the UN is going to have enough money to be the world bulley.

In defense of Ted, I think his point was that it was good combat deaths are down, compared to prior conflicts. It would be good if car accidents were the leading cause of death, because it would mean heart disease and cancer were no longer endemic, not because car accidents are good. I know it sounded bad, and I dislike Ted Turner, but let’s not be guilty of the same gotcha media attention spans that victimize pro-lifers trying to make a sound point. His point was that combat was taking less lives than a relatively rare cause of death like suicide. I get sick of the politics of offense were every human being is expected to be falsely compassionate in the name of everyone’s self-esteem, rather than making legitimate points. It dumbs down serious discussions, many of which involve abortion.

Call me crazy, but allow me to put on my tinfoil hat for just a moment:
I think between this sort of inflammatory rhetoric, the actual deaths in Benghazi, and this administration’s reaction to the violence, the establishment media and the administration together might be attempting to rile the populace up sufficiently to cause some sort of armed conflict, somewhere, originating from (a) right wing citizen(s). I think they might be trying to do this as a pretense for declaring martial law in the event that Obama loses this election.
Now…who wants some JiffyPop?!
