Pro-life vid of the day: Focus on the Family remembers Roe v. Wade
by LauraLoo
Meet Carrie, who was deceived into thinking abortion would be a good solution for her unplanned pregnancy while a young student attending a Christian college in 1981.
As a pastor’s kid, she learned that keeping certain secrets secret (so as to avoid public humiliation) can emotionally force you to do the unthinkable and live a life of regret.

Hey, would someone find a way to introduce the head of Hobby Lobby with the head of Forever 21? Hobby Lobby is a Christian-owned company trying to not dispense abortion pills to its employees, as ObamaCare requires. They are being fined a million dollars a day, if they lose the case.
The head of Forever 21 is a Korean Christian couple. They print John 3:16 on all their shopping bags, as a quiet witness to all the young people who visit their stores. They own several different chains- Faith 21, for instance. The company is publicly traded, is world-wide, and has a team of lawyers on retainer who have never, ever lost a case.
They ought to have a lot to talk about together.
Anti-abortion movements are usually created from religious organizations.
Why? Because they profit if more people join.
It’s the same reason that they hate condoms and birth controls. It’s not that there are tiny “souls” in semen, it’s that you’re more likely to increase your membership or your tax-free organization if you can get a 16 year-old pregnant and have her avoid higher education.
Jim, it’s easier to ignore what women are saying, isn’t it?
@Praxedes –
I’m not sure I follow. 55% of American women think abortion should be legal in all/most cases. Only 40% of American women think abortion should be illegal in all/most cases.
The data is from a poll released yesterday by The Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life.
Of the entire U.S. population: 54% think abortion should be legal in most/all cases. 39% think it should be illegal in all/most cases.
63% of white mainline Protestants think it should be legal in all/most cases.
54% of Catholics (that’s me) think it should be legal in all/most.
54% of black protestants think it should be legal in all/most cases.
55% of political independents think it should be legal in all/most cases.

Has this story hit anywhere here yet? Seems like it would be something for this blog to highlight: http://www.ncregister.com/daily-news/andrew-cuomos-brave-new-roe/
Jim, if millions of people want to find better solutions than the violence of abortion, and if these people love your unborn brothers and sisters, and work to secure their right to live, how does that hurt you personally?
Have you seen pictures of victims of abortion, btw?
Oh, good – the new guy “Jim” has showed up to teach us pro-life people what we fail to know.
I hope he sticks around for a while and engages in civil discussion – this will be fun.
Hi, Jim – I’ll bite: you have an interesting theory there, young man. Christian churches are pro-life in order to boost regular membership by this get-her-pregnant-rather-than-educated process.
Do you have one stitch of evidence for this? Internal documents? Interview? Theology school curricula? Anything?
Last time I checked, the churches in my town haven’t been hosting Hook-up Fridays for their teens, so I don’t think the pregnant 16 year old is the target demographic for parish families. The ideal parish family (regular attendance, donations in the basket) would be a stable two-parent family in which the children are raised to be productive adults who also become members of two parent families of their own.
The abortion industry doesn’t make any money off these children. Poor Cecile can’t buy any more shoes if parents buy diapers. So, let’s keep up our efforts, because if there is anyone who should have to work a real job to pay for those shoes, it should be Cecile.
In fact, we should counter her new ad campaign with the classic line:
“Baby needs a new pair of shoes!”
Let’s get to the important question here. Jim, what exactly are you smoking?
Wow! In that Pew Forum poll only 13% of Americans think abortion is morally acceptable! I think the last number I saw from Gallup was 38% believed it was morally acceptable.
Heya, Jim! Welcome! Nice to meet you!
So, you’re “Catholic”? That’s interesting, because I’m a female atheist Pro-Lifer. I’m not working for any Pro-Life cabal, I don’t have ties to any religious institutions. I’m Pro-Life because I have a daughter whose abusive father wanted me to kill her in an abortion. It wasn’t expedient to me not to do so, but it was my obligation to her as her mother not to do so. There is an obligation to our children that is being shirked by thousands of men and women daily at the cost of thousands of lives-many of those lives female. So, if you want to talk about taking the opportunity of being an educated, empowered young female away from us, start with the girls in the bucket headed to the incinerator. They are having the that chance and every other taken from them in droves.
X, been busy at work, side Christmas trip to Green Bay. How I’ve missed you.
“Wow! In that Pew Forum poll only 13% of Americans think abortion is morally acceptable! I think the last number I saw from Gallup was 38% believed it was morally acceptable.”
It’s almost like people can find something wrong without wanting it outright banned (see also: alcohol abuse, gambling, spousal infidelity).
Really, I’d find that 13% number pretty deflating if I was on your side of this issue. Less than one-fifth of Americans consider abortion morally acceptable and yet not a single age, gender, race, political or religious cohort (except for white evangelical Protestants) even supports overturning Roe v. Wade, much less passing your ideal constitutional amendment or federal statute banning abortion. Even self-identified Republicans, according to the Pew survey, narrowly support Roe v. Wade 48% to 46% (and I think it’s fair to say a healthy contingent of those anti-Roe Republicans want it overturned strictly as a states’ rights issue; good luck getting them to support further federal action even if Roe is overturned, somehow).

Courtnay,
Nice to have you back! Next time you’re up this way let me know, and stop off in Milwaukee. We’ll have a good time. :)
54% of Catholics (that’s me) think it should be legal in all/most.
I believe the Creaster totals are closer to 74% than they are to 54%. I bet you know how many poinsettias were on the altar at Christmas, eh? Mass sure was PACKED wasn’t it?
Just saying Jim Boy.
Step right in, lie right on down. Soon your kid could be gone. Look what I have done. How could I have been so wrong? They said the pain would all be gone. Oh look what I have done. They want me to kill my own dear son.
Next time I won’t look away. Cause I will never let you go. I’d give anything just to change that choice I made. They told me that no one has to know. Oh I still miss you so. They told me just to look away. But i know and it hurts me every day. There is this empty space inside me now and the feeling won’t go away. I’d give anything just to have you back again.
Don’t murder the baby
Don’t make the choice I made.
If only I could have that day back again.
All I’d want is to keep you safe.
fantastic truthseeker! You don’t ‘see’ now Jim, but I’ m counting on you to ‘get it’! I am in line to be ‘eliminated’. I’m just too old and very disabled …. I musn’t be ‘human’, eh? What will Pew and you do away with me? Will it be: ‘I’ve done well!’?
and thanks (in advance) to all who March.
God bless you Carrie for telling your story.
The pain of abortion regret is real and the grief never ends.
Just talked to 2 friends of mine this weekend about the 40th Anniversary of Roe vs, Wade, one had her abortion 40 years ago the other 20 years ago and they both could tell you the date they aborted their babies and how old they would be today if they had not”chosen” to take their baby’s life. The pain is still there years later, somebody told them it was an easy way out of a bad situation they were in, somebody LIED. Women not only don’t forget the date, they don’t forget the pain, the shame, the regret and the wondering about what that child would be like today (their gender, personality, occupation, physical characteristics, etc.). Every woman I talk to who is post-abortive deals with the same heartache. They were told it was a “blob of tissue”, like ”extracting a period”, abortion will make your “little problem” go away, somebody LIED. Women don’t remember the date when they had a tooth extracted, the date they had their period but women remember their abortion. ABORTION HURTS WOMEN. ONE DEAD, ONE WOUNDED.
Amen Prolifer L,
What makes this abortion recovery bearable is knowing I am not alone and I stand with so many that have been through it too.
I will continue healing until I get to heaven and hold my little girl. Then, and only then will I be healed.
God bless you Carla. I pray for you and all of the post-abortive women and men out there. Did anybody see Dr. Alveda King on Huckabee last night? She was awesome and she is a post-abortive woman also.
