Pro-life vid of the day: Belgium eyes child euthanasia
by LauraLoo
As posted by The Drudge Report, Belgium is considering an unprecedented law.
Since 2002, Belgians have been euthanized for blindness, depression and, most recently, a botched sex change. Now, they want to allow euthanasia for children.

Should children ever have the right to ask for their own deaths? If so, do they need to be declared terminally ill by the medical profession? Can their parents ask for death without the child’s consent?
What are your thoughts on this from a religious as well as a secular perspective?

To tell someone with a disease that their best option is death is essentially to give up on helping them.
How about some actual medical advancements, instead of killing patients?
This one hits close to the bone. My brother died with Duchenne MD when he was 16. I can’t imagine giving up on him, and I’m grateful to God for every minute we had together. He was a great kid.
I am so sorry for your loss. I am glad you were able to see him home.
The whole prospect is ghastly. I read a news story about an American man who received a phone call, out of the blue, that his mother’s body was at a hospital in Belgium and he needed to arrange its transport out of there. His mother travelled to Belgium for the express purpose of committing suicide.
The whole idea of euthanizing children as if they’re nothing more than old dogs, it’s just plain evil and sick.
Wow…my daughter was diagnosed with ALL leukemia at a young age. Shes 22 now and sad to say she now has stage 3 ovarian cancer. She didnt want to die then and she doesnt want to die now.
As one with a genetic disorder, it is intriguing how words are manipulated to bring about death as an alternative to life. This gets even crazier when ‘the victim’ (a suffering child in this case) is blamed for imposing an undue burden on parents/society. Oh-poor-poor-us!
No account is given to what a child feels … it’s really-about-me and my narcism. A direct result of ‘two not being capable of becoming one’. Him/she over there are killable because ‘they’ are not-like-me!
There are two related things: a disinterest in the reverential awe of all human life … it’s sheer beauty … and two, a loss of appreciation of being-a-human-protector. This is not being a conservative as much as being a-parent/an aspect of being human. We live as a species not as isolates.
What the heck kind of kid wants to die?!
Fear of death is a natural human feeling, it’s something you’re born with; Anyone who’s child is asking to be killed needs to see a shrink, caus’ folks that’s somebody who’s got serious issues.
