Rare monoamniotic twins were born to Sarah and Bill Thistlethwaite in Akron, Ohio, just in time for Mother’s Day. The couple was told they might have difficulty having children, yet they conceived 16-month old Jaxon on their honeymoon. A series of more surprises were in store when they learned that twins were on the way, and that they were “mono mono” – being in the same amniotic cavity with the same placenta.

This meant an extended stay in the hospital before the due date because of the risk of entangled or compressed umbilical cords. After just under two months Jenna and Jillian were delivered by Caesarean section. Mom Sarah said: “They’re already best friends. I can’t believe they were holding hands!”

Here is a report from WEWS:

The Thistlethwaites credit their faith and react to their notoriety, as they welcome their daughters home just in time for Father’s Day.
