Pro-life vid of day: Should high schoolers see abortion victims?
Created Equal recently posted signs displaying the victims of abortion in front of Westerville South High School in Ohio (pictured), which disturbed some people.
One YouTube commenter even accused the group of “literally turning into Westboro Baptist!!!!” (One might reasonably object to the use of the term “literally” here, and to the suggestion that displaying images of the victims of a human atrocity is akin to spreading a message of hatred against soldiers and gays.)
But at least one woman passing by spoke in support of the group’s actions, believing Created Equal to be right to focus their campaign on teens. After all, we’re not talking about primary schoolers here. High schoolers can legally, and without parental notification in most cases, obtain abortions.
According to the abortion-favoring research organization Guttmacher, “Eighteen percent of U.S. women obtaining abortions are teenagers; those aged 15–17 obtain 6% of all abortions, 18–19-year-olds obtain 11%, and teens younger than 15 obtain 0.4%,” and “Fifty-one percent of women who have abortions had used a contraceptive method in the month they got pregnant, most commonly condoms (27%) or a hormonal method (17%).” These are the numbers, despite the promotion of comprehensive sex education in schools, and despite the over-the-counter distribution of emergency contraception, even to teens.
Warning: Some profanity…

Could seeing abortion affect teens when they’re considering abortion? Do you agree or disagree with Created Equal’s actions?

I think the bottom line is that if abortion is “no big deal” then images like these shouldn’t disturb anyone. As we all know well abortion IS a very big deal because it is taking the life of an innocent human being in an extremely violent way. Showing the REALITY of abortion, which is what these images do, forces people to confront what abortion truly is, instead of hiding that reality by wrapping it up in politically charged phrases like “My body, my choice.” The anti-slavery movement in 18th century England gained little ground among the general population until William Wilberforce and others posted flyers everywhere around London showing the deplorable conditions that slaves had to endure on slave trade ships. That reality was hidden from the public on purpose, of course, and those graphic flyers helped move the public conscience toward supporting the abolition of slavery. As harsh as this sounds I’ve often thought that if pro-choice supporters had to spend a day witnessing abortions and its after effects, there are very few of them that would come out of that experience and still call themselves pro-choice.
“posted signs displaying the victims of abortion … which disturbed some people”
Signs are rectangles of paper with wooden sticks and are not disturbing. It is the reality of bloody dismemberment that is disturbing.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with posting images of violently assaulted, ripped to pieces, dismembered, abused, tortured, innocent babies who are victims of elective, induced abortions. The act is an act of mercy serving to inform the public in the same way that video and still photography of beheadings, rapes, stoning, shootings, floggings, burnings, beatings, and other abuse and sadistic treatment at the hands of Islamofascist militant Jihadis informed the public of what they are doing, and how vicious, sadistic, cruel, inhumane, homicidal, sick, perverted, violent, vile, and malevolent they are.
The same holds true for revealing video taped footage of a professional athlete slugging a female human, causing her to strike her head against a handle along the all of the interior of an elevator, or showing torn flesh along the legs, bottom, hips, groin, etc., of a young child after he was struck by a tree branch yielded by an exceptionally strong, large, professional athlete.
These images bring the pain and abuse closer to home. Before the release of footage of one football player slugging his wife, he received a two game suspension. Later, when the footage revealing the actual strike was released to the public the league, and many people, became disgusted. The slugger was punished twice for the same offence, a no-no in real law and real justice, but people were now really, really upset, so that football player, we have been told, is now persona non grata, no longer allowed to be a part of the NFL.
Imagine if the footage in those cases was not revealed. It would not have the same impact.
People became upset when they saw footage of Matthew Shepherd bound to a fence post, beaten and bloodied, or ripped up and bloodied.
Animal rights and groups which feel compassion for abused, starved, tortured animals are allowed to show imagery on television and elsewhere. Where is the outrage over that?
Slaughtering a tiny new human being who is defenseless, innocent, and depends on mother for her life, is the worse of all the aforementioned, combined, yet, for some reason, people become all sensitive, outraged, and offended when defenders of innocent babies reveal the truth of abortion. It is not pretty. It is violent. It is sadistic. Baby feels it. People become more upset if an animal in utero is abused or killed than a human baby suffering a worse fate.
How many pro-aborts LOVE slasher – horror films?
Millions of people watch movies which depict women being assaulted, stripped naked, tortured, raped, dismembered, burned alive, screaming in agony and terror, pleading for mercy, pleading to be released, pleading for their lives. Many millions of people watch movies in which men, women, and children, are terrorized, tortured, abused, screaming in horror and agony, and slaughtered, sometimes the movie includes multiple victims of sadistic torture and abuse.
These movies, slasher films, sci-fi films, horror films, detective films, action films, historical fiction films, and so forth, are rife with gory, bloody imagery, blood curdling screams, and sadistic torture, pain, suffering, helplessness, abuse, and death.
Why is it so many have the stomach for such vile imagery, screaming, etc., and have the stomach for advertisements and imagery of animals suffering, abused, and killed, and so on, but demand that imagery of the real effects of elective, induced abortion are adamantly blocked, fought, and touted as unfit for public scrutiny?
It makes no sense.
Let people see what abortion really is and then let them defend the disgusting, truly offensive, violent, blood slaughter of innocent babies pushed by a society which raises abortion up to some sacred, wonderful experience and a badge of honor making a woman a conqueror, a victor over some weird concept of “power,” and “autonomy.”
Yes, high schoolers SHOULD see abortion victims. They might already be rather jaded from ingesting the imagery from all the abusive athletes, suffering animals, torture and abuse in movies, and so forth, but they should see and become educated in the truth and counter the whitewashed imagery of abortion as some wonderful, sacred, women liberating rite of passage.
Teenagers should see the brutal effects of abortion. This should be taught clearly, as part of the comprehensive sex-ed program that abortion supporters advocate.
Teens should also be taught about the dangers of breast cancer, blood clots, pulmonary embolisms and strokes that are caused by hormonal birth control.
And all about the STD’s that are epidemic among teens, and how condoms are really not very effective against the many viruses that are spread by tongues and hands.
And we need to teach our teens about virtues, so they can make good choices.
But if our schools won’t teach teens what they really need to know, then parents and pro-lifers need to initiate the conversations.
Brett and Eric,
Re: if the abortion is no big deal, then why should people be offended by the imagery, and, it is not the photos which are offensive but what they reveal, bravo!
Well said!
This is easy.
Teens can get abortions, as Kelli already pointed out.
The population of prospective purchasers should be fully informed about the “product”. For people who think abortion is “health care”, the prospective patient has the right to be fully informed about the procedure, (something which the abortionists persistently oppose).
if they can “procure” an abortion, then they should surely be allowed to see what they are getting
No
“No”
Well that settles that.

Ha – yeah. I guess I’m brief today.
I mean, I’ve joked before that maybe there should just be a trauma week. Show abortion pictures – show women who died during child birth – show pictures of 9/11 victims – show pictures of the CT school shooting and the guy who got gunned down by the 9 year old with the Uzi. Show holocaust victims, victims of the African cleansing, ebola victims – we could show people killed during the civil rights movement – people killed by Christians, muslims, and other religious groups.
It could just a full week of “the world sucks – let us show the ways in which we’ve all ruined it”.
Some dead polar bears – torture videos – war scenes – I mean, we could literally go on all day.
Ex I get your point. But high schoolers do see things like birth videos and Holocaust pictures and etc in the appropriate classes, I’d be cool if they saw abortion photos in that context. I don’t agree with the camping outside the school while kids are trying to get an education though. I don’t see how that helps anything. Start a pro-life club there or something, but I don’t see how disrupting the school day helps.
At least it’s not an elementary or middle school this time.
I think there are items that serve a historical and/or educational purpose, and those who want to just push political views.
It’s funny, because conservatives in generally typically get upset at teachers for promoting certain positions, but when it comes to positions that are important to them, then the gloves are off.
I mean, how can you argue for showing graphic abortion photos, but then scream and yell about teachers talking about sex? An illogical double standard.
Wouldn’t that be great if this stuff was shown in health class, Deluded? But I’m not holding my breath. Meanwhile, these teens may very well be having sex and be pregnant. They may be planning to get an abortion. Seeing these signs have changed hearts and minds. So I support it.

Okay, credit were credit’s due, that’s an actual answer.

[…] Commenter William, remarking on why images of abortion victims should be seen by the public, in response to “Pro-life vid of day: Should high schoolers see abortion victims?” at JillStanek.com, […]
Ex-RINO, abortion is legal and the kids in these schools are being taught it is an ok ‘choice’. Muslim jihadist beheadings are not legal and the kids in these schoolds are not being taught that beheading people is an ok ‘choice’. You are an imbecile.
“abortion is legal and the kids in these schools are being taught it is an ok ‘choice’” – that’s correct.
“Muslim jihadist beheadings are not legal and the kids in these schoolds (sic) are not being taught that beheading people is an ok ‘choice’” – that’s also correct. Thanks for pointing that out, but what’s your point?
“I mean, how can you argue for showing graphic abortion photos, but then scream and yell about teachers talking about sex? An illogical double standard.”
Ex-RINO, seriously? This from the guy who says abortion is murder. What is illogical is that you are ubable to grasp the difference between using signs to teach kids killing the unborn is not ‘ok’ and teaching somebody masturbation is ok.
You think the signs will teach kids that abortion is not ok? They might go ‘yuk’, but when they find themselves with an unwanted pregnancy….
We all see horrific war images, yet off we go….
Why is teaching somebody masturbation not ok?
Reality,
the signs show the ‘reality’ of what abortion is. They may not effect you but they are a powerful awakening to the people who want abortion to be legal but who don’t want to face that it is killing a ‘person’. Reality, meet the reality of abortion.
High school kids don’t need you teaching them how to masturbate you lech. I hope somebody is keeping an eye on you.
Reality and Ex-RINO, posting to you is akin to knocking a troll back under the bridge.
Agreeing with TS…btw ex Gop did you know your new pro choice buddy was just reality posting as Tenn? Lmao!
Ex Gop is NOT pro life! Hes a troll just like reality. He voted for a pro abortion president. Does not compute!
TS reality has admitted in the past that he walks around in the nude at home. Its your right but I have this gross visual of him I cant shake. I knew a nudist. He died but he was so nasty and he did nude beaches and everything. He was so gross.
Then the nude reality says its hot where he lives but I do believe that a nude grown man on a pro life site EVERY day bears watching. Its just perverted sounding imo. And you do NOT need to teach people how to masterbate. What in the world is he talking about?
I support showing the signs. The signs kicked my pro life work into high gear.
High school students take driving classes. Are students still shown victims of drinking and driving?
CC in my drivers ed class we HAD to watch several videos on drinking and driving accident victims. Many were dead and ripped in half. Got the point across!
When I was in high school, in driver’s ed class the teacher showed us a film called “Signal 30,” which showed corpses at the scenes of car crashes. The purpose of “Signal 30” was to show the truth about driving. It showed the results of driving irresponsibly. The purpose of showing abortion pictures is to show the truth about abortion, which is a result of irresponsible teachings about sex, which ends up killing an innocent person, or you.
Every life begins at conception just as every journey begins with the first step. Abortion is permanently ending the journey of another person so you may continue your journey.
CC we were young adults. The driving instructor told us if we felt ill that we may leave the room. Nobody in my class did. Heck in middle school health ed we watched a live birth video ….again we could be excused if anyone felt sick or faint. I was talking with a young girl who did a paper in high school on abortion. She said a lot of the girls got up and walked out as she was reading. Its their guilt.
Doc K..I wonder if thats the same movie we saw. Old footage. People hanging out of cars dead. The jaws of life trying to remove the dead from their cars and so on.
If youre old enough to drive then youre old enough to watch a video on reckless driving and car accidents. My deceased husbands son was killed in 2004 drivin drunk. Puched his GTO up to 100mph and died on impact. If youre old enough to have sex then you should be able to see what an abortion looks like.
Sorry above post ….Steven hit a telephone pole. His father never recovered. RIP Steven and dad and your brother Nick are home with you now.
Well, I can say this – growing up in a post-communist Lithuania (and for those who don’t know certain things didn’t “exist” in Soviet Union – like God, or sex, or crime) I got to be in the first generation that had any sort of sex education at school whatsoever. And that education consisted of 3 parts: a biology lesson about human reproductive system, an hour of anonymous Q&A with a doctor (girls and boys separately) and a movie about abortion. Not really “about” abortion, just a selection of videos of what different gestation abortions look like – live footage from real abortions. You can guess how many of our classmates turned 100% pro-life. For me, at 14 years old, it was the best incentive to stay away from sex, as I knew even then there isn’t 100% protection except abstinence. It works!!!
It’s on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sm-gFPGrFV0
YEP Doc K. Thats it!!! Thats the video. Driving age was 16 back when I was is school so all of us 16 and 17 year olds watched and didnt toss our cookies. Idk how…maybe curiosity? Its still upsetting but cars are not toys and nowadays sex can kill you.
Vita I can relate. That childbirth video made me fear sex. Not that I was thinking about it at that age….but some boys n girls were having sex. Same with nursing school. I was 17 and we did our L and D clinicals. I held a womans hand while she was in labor and almost fainted. The doc let me help him suction out the babys mouth. That hospital was demolished. I found out years later they did abortions there. We were never asked to partake or observe one thank God.
If these people see PSAs on TV for the S.P.C.A. or for starving families in Africa, do they send money — or call the cable company to “get those upsetting commercials off the air”?

It seems like everything in Ex-GOP’s world is defined in terms of “liberal” and “conservative.”
We should be talking about everything in terms of what is good and what is true.
I don’t mind teachers who want to talk about sex. The problem is when the sex ed is taught according to Planned Parenthood’s agenda of encouraging our teens and pre-teens into premature sexual activity.
True information about human development in the womb and the reality of abortion should be part of the sex-ed program. We “scream and yell” (not really) because our kids are not being taught the truth.
But why should the truth be banished to the sidewalks outside of schools? That is the question here.
Meanwhile, issues about graphic images of Holocaust victims, terrorists beheading Christians, and oil-soaked wildlife deserve to be discussed on their own merits. If Ex-GOP can find any images of Christians terrorizing the world, we can talk about that too. Those do not effect the fact that children need to learn that abortion is not a harmless and insignificant medical procedure.
Heather: That childbirth video made me fear sex. Not that I was thinking about it at that age….
Hahahhahahahaaaa! Oh come on now, Heather…. ;)

We watched ‘Reefer Madness.’

Yeah i like the point made about the starving children Alyssa Milanos comes on my TV set often along with the feed the Children. I will do what I can do. Nothing against Alyssa..but like someone asked “Couldnt she get a few million from a few of the elite”? That would be a start. It even airs on non cable stations but I havent had my TV turned off yet. @Doug hardy har har. Id rather deal with you over ex and reality any day!
Heather: Yeah i like the point made about the starving children Alyssa Milano comes on my TV set often along with the feed the Children. I will do what I can do. Nothing against Alyssa..but like someone asked “Couldnt she get a few million from a few of the elite”?
The “Teen Steam” videos were good. :P
@DOUG…I liked your cop joke. Thanks i needed a good laugh today! I cracked up!
truth and heather –
As always, I see you two are keeping it classy (though I’d suggest a review of the rules of the site).
Del and other folks who addressed me directly – will post thoughts later this evening.
“who don’t want to face that it is killing a ‘person’.” – it isn’t.
“High school kids don’t need you teaching them how to masturbate you lech.” – I don’t. I’m not a teacher. I’m not qualified as a teacher. I’m not qualified to teach sex-ed.
“I hope somebody is keeping an eye on you.” – it’s not me who needs to be watched ;-)
So now that you’ve avoided the question once I’ll ask you again – what is wrong with teaching high schoolers about masturbation?
“Reality and Ex-RINO, posting to you is akin to knocking a troll back under the bridge.” – this from someone who thinks that name-calling is a substitute for rational argument? lol
Unless you shower or bath dressed heather, you practice as much public nudity as I do :-)
Aww look at the 2 trolls. Since when do you know anything about class ex? Ive never seen you show any! Lol Tenn was reality all along. The nudist.
Excuse me reality but I shower and dress. I sleep in PJs. I dont walk around nude like you do every day.
Sorry, but why do we think Tenn and Reality are the same person again? They have clearly distinct styles of writing.
Reality hhuh! Since when do teachers in sex ed teach students how to masterbate you psycho???
Navi its called reverse psychology. He wass too easy he gave himself away.
And no Navi youre wrong reality and Tenn were both saying I was spreading gossip so may I ask why you are getting in the middle of something that is really none of your business?
“Lol Tenn was reality all along” – it is nice to know you can laugh at yourself.
“Excuse me reality but I shower and dress.” – me too.
“I sleep in PJs.” – each to their own.
“I dont walk around nude like you do every day.” – I don’t. But at the times that I do I am safe from prying eyes.
“Since when do teachers in sex ed teach students how to masterbate you psycho???” – ask truthseeker, he stated it. Hang on, are you two one and the same, I see you are resorting to name-calling now.
Also Navi how do you know who I may have spoken to to figure it out? I mean no comments were sent your way so seriously you should stay to yourself unless it involves you.
Reality get a life life life. Why do you come here every single day? Seriously why?
Reality –
I think you might be on to something about the two of them being the same!
What a stinkin’ joke.
It’s a disappointment to me that some of the reasonable folks on this board haven’t verbally smacked them in their place (though Mary and a couple others helped back me up when heather was gossiping on a thread).
Yes i have resorted to calling you what you are. Tack on mentally unstable. Oh you think thats bad? Lol on Facebook I would rip you a new one:)
Oooooo part of the big conspiracy. Yep TS and I are the same person. You trolls are so smart. BTW Paladin doesnt want to debate you.:)
“Also Navi how do you know who I may have spoken to to figure it out?” – oh I think we can guess who you’ve been ‘speaking’ to.
“I mean no comments were sent your way so seriously you should stay to yourself unless it involves you.” – defensive much?
“Reality get a life life life.” – I have *a* life. Perhaps your problem is that you do have a ‘life life life’. There’s a DSM term for that, maybe more than one. Why do you come here every single day? Seriously why?
Del –
I have a few issues:
1) Why do we have to be in a rush to have our kids grow up as fast as we can?
2) Why is this sort of education not directed by the parents? Again – I see some parents jumping up and down about how certain topics shouldn’t be in schools and up to parents, and now we have people jumping up and down about this.
3) Big difference in general between education items and items to push an agenda/viewpoint. Are you and others supporting an educational view of abortion – what a typical abortion is, how it works, statistics – and have this in the hands of educational unions to present? Can you verify that this is what you really want?
I just something don’t think people really want what they ask for. For instance, the thought of prayer in public school gives me the shivers – giving something holy to be directed by people who might not believe the same way. And here – you are really saying you’d like folks who might not, or probably don’t agree with you to give their educational stance on abortion?
Really?
Really?
Its great that you think hes smart…oh and he IS. He just has better things to do than debate you.
Reality pro choice and nude on PL blog every day with nothing better to do but agree with his own opinions. Here is a great screen name for you Delusional!
Get him Del!!!!
You are an almost endless stream of light entertainment heather, thank you :-)
Awww geez now hes probably all red in the face shaking the bible and HAD to just HAD TO say Mary had his back. lol …doesnt matter I love Mary. Shes fair and Ive blogged with her for a long time. So your point is what?
Ty reality…bow! Id want Mary in my corner as well if you were the only one I had to turn to. I will take PC Doug any day!
Who’s shaking a bible? Paladin?
Are you going to buy my book when it’s published heather? I’ll give you discount and even sign it for you! Who should I address it to?
Lol i will decide if I want to buy it and you can just send it to me should I choose to buy it. No reality you would never shake a bible. At least youre truthful about not believing in God. Ex would though because he voted for Obama yet he is anti abortion.
Well g nite all ….going to watch forensic files.
“It’s a disappointment to me that some of the reasonable folks on this board haven’t verbally smacked them in their place”
I have a life! :) I don’t think calling Reality a psycho and a lech or whatever is a kind thing to do heather. We should focus on his views. Try to remember that he’s probably never gonna budge on abortion (though I always have hope for you Reality!), but there are probably people who are less ardent supporters of abortion that read this site and I don’t think mocking Reality is going to get through to them. Even if he really bugs you there are others to remember. Plus he’s a human being and treating him badly isn’t something we should do imo.
Oh and I don’t have Facebook anymore, but you can get my email from the mods Heather and talk to me there if you want. :)
“Here is a great screen name for you Delusional!”
Sorry but I’ve trademarked all forms of the word delusional for screen names and Reality may not use any form of the word as his name unless he pays me royalties.
Love you all!
Oh and Doug, Reefer Madness is like my favorite thing of all time. I laugh myself into hysterics everytime I watch it.
Youre right deluded. Ive been nice to reality before. anyway yes id like ur email if u could ask any mod. or maybe let me get yours cuz i use 2. Then I can get the right one to you. Wanted to talk to you about some issues not PL…like my deceased husband. You were of great help to me understanding addiction. i dont wanna hijack the blog and make it about addiction. Im up for work so gotta run. hope to catch you later.
Btw what the heck is reefer maddness? A movie?
Heather: “Reefer Madness” is a film that was made in the late 1930’s about the dangers of smoking marijuana and was aimed at educating parents. It attained a cult following status in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Do a google search for it and you can read more about it.
““who don’t want to face that it is killing a ‘person’.” ”
Reality: “– it isn’t.”
It kills a human being, a term most of us equate to “person.” But resume with your splitting of hairs.
Mike…thank you.:)
Navi: Sorry, but why do we think Tenn and Reality are the same person again?
Look at some of the other stuff that some pro-lifers believe, and get back to us…. ;)
DLPL: Oh and Doug, Reefer Madness is like my favorite thing of all time. I laugh myself into hysterics everytime I watch it.
Jack, they must have had some really strong and fast-acting stuff back then… :P
