Pro-life news brief 5-7-13

  • America isn’t the only place with shady abortionists. An abortionist in China has been accused of taking a nude photo of a patient and blackmailing her with it.:

… [T]he patient claims that the doctor took pictures of her while she was changing clothes and tried to use the photo as blackmail so that they would pay.

The hospital later returned the extra money the couple had been charged and issued an apology after police were called to investigate the situation.

  • As Jill reported, Johns Hopkins has agreed to fully recognize a pro-life student group. According to the Baltimore Sun, Voice for Life, a pro-life group at the university, will be fully recognized by the campus after a student judiciary unanimously overturned a decision by student legislators which would have prevented the group from doing certain activities:

The Judiciary Committee called for its decision to be effective immediately. As a sanctioned club, Voice for Life will be listed in all university publications and websites, be able to raise money on campus and publicize its events, among other privileges. The decision to recognize the group as a club does not guarantee that Voice for Life will receive university funding, which is approved in a separate process.

Does Carhart have a friend on the inside?

a470b078-5ece-4f99-8bca-4830b5722440On February 7, 29-yr-old Jennifer Morbelli, pictured right, died at a Maryland hospital the morning after LeRoy Carhart completed the abortion of her 33-wk-old baby in the Germantown, Maryland, mill at which he worked.

Ironically, the day before Morbelli died the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene issued licenses to all 17 abortion clinics in the state without ever having inspected them, even though abortion clinic regulations had been enacted in November 2012.

Per MSM it could only be Planned Parenthood supporters withholding donations from Komen

The mainstream media is reporting that donations to Susan G. Komen for the Cure have dropped substantially in the wake of its decision and subsequent reversal to defund Planned Parenthood.

According to MSM, this must be due to disgruntled Planned Parenthood supporters, for instance this March 23 CBS News story:

by JivinJ, host of the blog, JivinJehoshaphat The amended Virginia ultrasound bill has been signed by Gov. Bob McDonnell. Unsurprisingly, the AParticle about the law has this mischaracterization:The measure initially had sought to mandate a vaginally invasive form of an ultrasound, triggering a national uproar that resounded across political talk shows and TV comedy shows…. Maryland pro-life activists get $385,000 settlement for illegal arrests

This is great closure. In August 2008 I reported that Maryland State Police had illegally arrested 18 pro-lifers, including two minors, who were participating in a constitutionally protected picket. Well, the subsequent lawsuit has been settled, and hooray for our side. From the Baltimore Sun, March 6 (albeit getting the number of pro-lifers wrong):

Pro-life common ground with rapper Common: “$315 ain’t worth your soul”

Now, Common is far from a Republican and “Retrospect for Life” serves as a conflicted, debate piece about abortion – in which both sides are represented – but several of its lines should give Sarah Palin and other conservatives some common ground with Common. ~ Baltimore Sun journalist Luke Broadwater, commenting on rapper Common’s […]

Pro-life groups to protest Carhart’s first day aborting late-term babies in Maryland

DC area pro-lifers plan to greet Nebraska late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart as he begins aborting late-term babies in Maryland today.  The Baltimore Sun reports this morning: Anti-abortion activists say they plan to protest at a Germantown clinic staffed by a Nebraska late-term abortion doctor. Organizers say activists, clergy and others plan to picket Monday morning […]
