NPR ignores woman killed by clinic it showcases in abortion promo piece

2015-03-06_1130This is truly shocking, either a new low in yellow journalism or an incredible display of shoddy research.

The slant of the March 3 NPR article by Jennifer Ludden was in its title: “Abortion restrictions complicate access for Ohio women.”

Ludden worried “a steady stream of abortion restrictions over the past four years has helped close nearly half the state’s clinics that perform the procedure,” then went on to blame the state, not substandard clinics or abortionists.

Ironically, Ludden chose Preterm abortion clinic to showcase the hardships abortion clinics and aborting mothers must endure:

Planned Parenthood didn’t report 911 call to state because hemorrhaging “not unusual”

ambulance091609Planned Parenthood Keystone had a novel excuse for failing to report the ambulance transfer of a patient to the Pennsylvania  Department of Health, as required by law.

When DOH inspected Planned Parenthood Keystone’s Allentown abortion clinic on February 27, 2014, it was surprised to learn a patient had begun hemorrhaging after her abortion on March 15, 2013, and taken to the hospital by ambulance.

  • At Women’s Rights Without Frontiers, Reggie Littlejohn reports on Lili Zeng of China, who was forced to abort her first child at nine months pregnant and watch him die in her arms. She has attempted suicide three times since this horrific event. Where is the outrage from feminists and pro-choicers?

Her experience shows that full-term babies born alive after a botched forced abortion may be left to die. Her experience also shows that a woman can be forcibly aborted up to the ninth month of pregnancy with the consent of her presumed husband.

Finally, Ms. Zeng’s experience shows that – even when a woman is pregnant with her first child – if it is her husband’s second child, she can be forcibly aborted.

  • RH Reality Check has yet another post in which a child who was born alive and left to die in a dumpster is described as a “fetus.” Their Senior Legal Analyst Jessica Mason Pieklo has this description of local authorities prosecuting a woman who lied about her pregnancy after she left her child (born around 30 weeks gestation and breathing, according to the coroner) to die in a dumpster:

The State of Indiana is prosecuting another woman for a failed pregnancy, this time charging a woman with felony neglect after a fetus was found in a dumpster. Prosecutors had originally considered charging the woman with feticide, like in the case of Bei Bei Shuai. Either way, the state has made it clear any pregnancy that does not result in a successful live birth will be viewed first and foremost as a probable crime, which is a terrifying reality for women in the state.

However, this wasn’t a failed pregnancy and the reason the state didn’t charge her with feticide is because the child wasn’t a fetus. The evidence clearly suggests that Purvi Patel ordered abortion drugs online, took them, gave birth at her home, and then disposed of her 30-week child (who was born alive) in a dumpster. Pregnancies that don’t result in successful live births will only be viewed possible crimes if the mothers lie about their pregnancies and gestational ages, and toss their living children into dumpsters.

New pro-life legislative efforts extend to local municipal level

As desperate abortion proponents employ the “run around the country like chickens with their heads cut off” strategy to try to stop unprecedented pro-life legislative advances in the states, they should know those advances are on the cusp of exponentially exploding to local municipalities.

  • The West Virginia abortionist being sued for allegedly continuing an abortion against a patient’s wishes is denying the allegations and is claiming that leaving a pieces of the child in the patient wasn’t his fault:

Her complaint claims she came to the clinic for an abortion but that she wasn’t given enough medication ahead of the procedure because the center and [Rodney Lee] Stephens didn’t know enough about her history with “use and/or abuse” of pain medication.

Stephens refused to stop the procedure when [Itai] Gravely told him to and staff members restrained her while he finished the procedure, according to her complaint. She says she felt enough pain after the procedure to eventually go to Charleston Area Medical Center.

At the hospital, Gravely says the doctors removed more materials from her uterus, including a skull….

Stephens and the center also state they are “of information and belief” that CAMC removed “additional products of conception.” But Gravely was told that “retained fragments and tissue” could remain after the abortion, which could lead to the need for further medical attention.

If any “products of conception” remained in Gravely, it wasn’t because Stephens or the center didn’t provide the proper care, according to the response.

Planned Parenthood has opposed other anti-infanticide legislation: IL Born Alive Act

~ “Blessed” Obama’s opposition

479830_433518370067175_1027146459_nPlanned Parenthood’s recent opposition to Florida legislation seeking to protect abortion survivors sent shock waves around the country.

But this wasn’t the first time Planned Parenthood had opposed such legislation.

Planned Parenthood also actively fought Illinois’ Born Alive Infants Protection Act in the early 2000s, along with then state Senator Barack Obama. This legislation was introduced to protect known abortion survivors.

In fact, Planned Parenthood and Obama worked together as a team. From ABC News, July 17, 2007:
