Pro-life blog buzz 12-12-14

  • At Life Training Institute, The Failed Atheist links to his excellent response to the viral UK video of a pregnant pro-choicer chastising Abort 67 pro-lifers for holding abortion victim images in front of an abortion facility. TFA responds to the woman’s arguments, such as, “It’s wrong to show abortion imagery because we don’t know why they are having an abortion,” “You’re a hypocrite because you’ve had an abortion,” and “Some of the women wanting an abortion may have been abused.”

Why abortion industry won’t push FDA to change RU-486 protocol

RU-486 abortion pill, take only as approved by FDAThe abortion cartel has reacted to a new genre of pro-life laws, which force abortion clinics to administer RU-486 per FDA protocol, in a way that makes no sense.

Four states – Arizona, North Dakota, Ohio, and Oklahoma – have now passed a version of this law, and the abortion lobby has responded by taking the more difficult path - suing to block the statute.

In terms of PR, this is an uphill battle. Abortion proponents are trying to justify giving RU-486 off-label by framing the FDA as incompetent. Quoting Tulsa World, October 1:

The abortion industry’s looming RU-486 legal crisis

RU-486 mifepristone abortion pillA Politico article today about new abortion cases that could reach the Supreme Court gave bare mention of its potential review of RU-486 regulation.

But due a circuit court split on laws regulating the administration of RU-486, such a review looks likely - and promising for the pro-life side.

If Planned Parenthood collapses, so does the abortion industry, Part 1

Planned Parenthood abortion clinic industry coming collapse?Had Planned Parenthood gone under in 1986, the abortion industry would hardly have noticed. At the time Planned Parenthood was committing only 6.2% of all U.S. abortions.

That was then.

With a total of 342 abortion clinics at last count (174 surgical/168 medical), Planned Parenthood now owns 46% of the remaining 751 abortion clinics in the U.S.

Planned Parenthood’s biggest abortion surge has been in the field of medical (RU-486) abortions. Planned Parenthood operates 90% of all U.S. medical abortion clinics, according to AbortionDocs.org. Here’s a chart from STOPP.org:

NYT writer: 2nd trimester chemical abortions “not happening”

by Kelli One of the tricky parts about medical abortion is that these drugs work all the way through a pregnancy, although they become less effective and the rate of complication rises in the course of pregnancy. So it is not recommended to have a second-trimester medical abortion without the supervision of a doctor. It’s […]

Pro-life news brief 8-20-14

by JivinJ, host of the blog, JivinJehoshaphat

  • “Intellectual” Richard Dawkins told someone on Twitter that bringing a child with Down Syndrome to birth is “immoral.”
  • An Alabama abortion clinic (which couldn’t meet safety standards at its current location) has been given permission to relocate.
  • Martin Haskell’s abortion clinic in Sharonville, Ohio, is dropping its appeal. They’ll stop performing surgical abortions on Friday. The clinic apparently plans on trying to stay in business by offering RU-486 chemical abortions.

Author: Tell your abortion story like moms tell birth stories

Abortion is a normal thing that women do, and we should stop asking women to sit in silence when the topic comes up….

I don’t feel very brave when I talk about my abortion. I feel small and scared.

But I don’t like staying silent out of fear. I don’t think that’s how anyone has ever gone about winning civil rights. And we have a lot of work to do.

BREAKING: Louisiana legislature passes Texas-style pro-life mega-bill

Katrina Jackson HB388 pro-life billThe Louisiana House voted this afternoon 88-5 to join the Senate in passing a pro-life omnibus bill, which Governor Bobby Jindal promoted and has already promised to sign.

But unlike Texas, there was no pink tennis-shoed legislator trying to hold up the process. HB388 received bipartisan support, even sponsored by a Democrat – Rep. Katrina Jackson, pictured left.

Depending on the source, the enacted measure is anticipated to close either three or four of the state’s five abortion clinics. Good riddance. Quoting nola.com:
