  • Right to Life of Michigan says abortion advocates like to portray their views as mainstream, but they aren’t – not even among women:

According to the 2013 Gallup poll on abortion, 57% of women believe abortion should be illegal or legal in only a few circumstances, along with 59% of men.

Only 28% of women agree with abortion advocates that abortion should be legal in every circumstance.

  • In First Things, Clarke Forsythe discusses how the Supreme Court helped create abortionists like Kermit Gosnell:

Because the Justices foolishly believed that abortion had few risks, and that abortion providers should have complete discretion to decide how to perform abortions in the first trimester, the Justices said that state and local officials could not regulate them in the first trimester. The Justices prohibited state health and safety regulations for abortion clinics in the first trimester of pregnancy when 90 percent of abortions are performed.

  • Some thoughts on Gosnell from Ramesh Ponnuru:

The question that should haunt us now is not how many victims Gosnell killed, which we will never know, but how many more Gosnells there are in our country.

  • And from Robert George, who I hope is correct:

Late-term abortionist Kermit Gosnell has been convicted of first degree murder for killing babies after delivering them alive….But Dr. Gosnell is only the front man; and the real trial has only just begun. The defendant is the abortion license in America.

Cleveland kidnapper may face death penalty for forced miscarriages

We need two separate poll questions asked of the public. Hopefully Rasmussen or Gallup or Pew or someone is game. Question one: Does Ariel Castro deserve death? Question two: Does Ariel Castro deserve death for forcing one of his captives to miscarry? I wonder if the number who say yes to question one will be […]

Planned Parenthood abandons term “pro-choice”

image

Pro-lifers have always disdained the term “pro-choice,” because it is intentionally ambiguous. It lets abortion supporters off the hook.

Now, apparently even “pro-choice” has become radioactive.

On January 9, with carefully controlled fanfare (no press release, hand-picked reporters), Planned Parenthood announced it was abandoning the term “pro-choice.” From Buzz Feed:

Abortion support rising? If so, thank the GOP for aiding and abetting

Rasmussen released a new poll on November 14 indicating that 54% of likely voters now consider themselves pro-choice, while only 38% say they are pro-life.

In the aftermath of the election I told friends to expect a bump in abortion support.

I’m not saying I believe the pendulum has swung the other way by 15 points since the May Gallup poll.

But of course the dial has moved, given the fact Obama and Democrats made such a huge pitch for abortion, and given the fact they embedded themselves, pardon the pun, as the champions of free contraception.

GOP: Competing for the pro-choice 41 percent?

Following the results of last week’s election, here comes the inevitable renewed call to oust pro-life principles from the Republican Party platform.

I almost want to tell the GOP to go ahead. Are pundits really that stupid? Never mind the 2012 Gallup poll, which showed the percentage of pro-“choice” Americans at a historic low…

Do Republicans really want to compete with Democrats for the 41%, leaving the 50% to wander off to a third party? This would be our only option.

The real problem for the GOP establishment is its players fall into one of three camps: terrified of the pro-life issue, Pro-Life in Name Only, or anti-life.

Would that the Republican establishment were to embrace the pro-life majority of their party as tightly as Democrats have embraced the pro-abortion majority of their party.
