by JivinJ, host of the blog, JivinJehoshaphat In his Best of the Web column from yesterday, James Taranto hits on a number of issues related to abortion, out-of-wedlock births and sex-ratios as he comments on New York City’s new campaign to stigmatize teen births – Planned Parenthood’s response: Planned Parenthood may describe itself as a […]

  • Abstinence Clearinghouse links to a Centers for Disease Control article that shows 20% of teenage girls binge drink (4+ drinks, at least 3 times weekly), which “can lead to serious health risks including… sexually transmitted diseases and unintended pregnancy.”

Daily Kos editor: Pro-life “terrorists” to observe “Fetuspalooza”

Ah, January in Washington D.C. Bare trees, icy sidewalks, inauguration plans underway — and terrorists dressed up like sweet little grandmothers bussing to the nation’s capital, ready for their annual celebration of restricting women’s access to health care. That’s right, it’s time for Fetuspalooza 2013! Ever since the Supreme Court held in 1973 that yes, […]

Stanek wkend question: Thoughts on Coulter’s charge that having no rape/incest exception is “insane”?

I like Ann Coulter.

I can’t think of a time when I haven’t agreed with Ann Coulter, even if her rhetoric is sometimes considered over-the-top. I usually enjoy her rhetoric, except her insistence on using the word “retard.”

Rhetoric aside, Coulter is a smart and savvy conservative.

So I was disappointed and stymied by this portion of Coulter’s analysis of the shellacking many Republicans took in Tuesday’s election:

Surprise! Feminists push to repeal Hyde Amendment

Now is the time to reopen the conversation about Hyde and abortion access: the public and the administration have been clear in their support of reproductive rights and affordable access to health care. We have a long way to go and a hard history to overcome, but we cannot back down. We must ensure that all services, including abortion, are affordable in order to secure people’s reproductive rights and ability to make decisions.

Who’s up for another star-studded pro-choice video?

The Center for Reproductive Rights blurs countries and causes, so where one woman in Kenya can’t take her baby home because she’s in debt for the delivery, this is compared to America being hostile to very late-term abortions in the former George Tiller clinic in Kansas… The Center’s staffers were quite clear they wanted to […]

  • Reflections of a Paralytic comments on “the petty concerns of American feminists” compared to the concerns of women in other countries:

It’s bad enough that women to want to deny their femininity in the first place by suppressing their fertility and killing their unborn children, but to insist that the public must pay for these things otherwise it’s some kind of violation of our “rights” is, quite frankly, embarrassing to me as a fellow American woman and insulting to women who really are victims of oppressive and inhumane regimes.

If American feminists want to make a big deal about anything “oppressive” in our country, they should really be focusing their attention to our pornified culture and its sexualization of young girls.

Politico: Democrats forced to switch strategies because abortion now a losing issue

If Democrats and liberal feminists lose the presidential election this fall despite their “war on women” strategy, they will have depleted their arsenal.

In their most candid interviews to date, various Democrats and abortion industry players admitted in a Politico article today they know abortion has become a losing issue for them. They have hinted at it a couple times this year (here and here), but they show all their cards in this piece.

In order to get women to unwittingly support abortion, they are pulling out all stops, accusing Republicans of wanting to ban contraception,  encourage domestic violence, and deny women breast exams, maternity care, equal pay, and education access.  It’s all in a quite revealing article…
