I’m a pro-choice individual who actually acknowledges that those who disagree with me are not raging, full blown misogynists. What’s my reasoning you might ask? I’m happy to oblige.

First and foremost, I don’t buy the idea that people who are pro-life hold that position because they seek to control women’s bodies. This is a myth perpetuated by many Democrats as part of the “War on Women.” To attack the pro-life position as a “War on Women” is to completely ignore the much more widely cited reason for being pro-life, which is concern that fetus’s [sic] being aborted are in fact alive and sentient….

Affirmation comes from the strangest places.

Actually, the sort of affirmation I might strangely prefer is acknowledgement from the other side, backhanded as it may be, that I’m being heard. The hope is the messaging is getting through to someone over there, somewhere, and that I’m not just preaching to the choir.

Most here know of Amanda Marcotte, a militant pro-abortion feminist who writes some of the most acerbic, jaw-dropping stuff out there. Amanda may be exasperating and even infuriating, but she is refreshing in that she takes her movement’s beliefs to their fanatical conclusions, which they more often than not try to hide.

That’s the set-up for a piece Marcotte just had posted on Salon entitled, “7 women working tirelessly to attack equal rights for other women” (same piece at AlterNet: “7 women working tirelessly to screw over other women,”) with the subtitle, “Sadly, these women find it personally advantageous to reject feminism and continue perpetuating sexist social norms.”

• Culture Campaign reports on a new study from Yale University and City University of New York, which “shows that if the Republican Party abortion platform came to fruition and states could outlaw abortion, not only would the national abortion rate drop, but the rate among non-white Americans would drop the most.”

  Some point to this and claim racism on the part of Republicans… but really, doesn’t this just prove the pro-life point that abortion is used as a eugenic weapon and disproportionately takes the lives of minorities?

In his Life Links today, Jivin J links to a story that calls an ultrasound a “torture machine” if turned toward abortion-minded mothers to show them their baby.

The Texas Observer calls laws mandating that mothers receive informed consent via ultrasounds (which they do not have to view) “torment.”

All of this hyperbole in the name of giving mothers the freedom to kill their babies.

And its April 2012 magazine cover more than implies a racist, sinister agenda, showing faceless white men up in a dark-skinned woman’s business.
