The Eagle flies left
The Wichita Eagle has an editorial today calling on late-term abortionist George Tiller’s new judge, Tony Powell, to recuse himself from the high profile case against Tiller.
Tiller is charged with 19 misdemeanor counts for violating a KS law mandating that an abortionist get a second opinion as to the necessity of a late-term abortion from a doctor s/he has no financial ties to.
Wichita Eagle editors found it “startling that presiding Criminal Court Judge Greg Waller last week assigned Powell to this case in the first place, given the potential conflict of interest.”
It turns out Powell is a staunch pro-lifer and former legislator who helped write the law Tiller is charged with, which is actually funny. But who would better understand its intent?
But Wichita Eagle editors had nothing to say about “potential conflict of interest” when Waller himself was assigned to the case, and it was revealed last week that two of Tiller’s attorneys endorsed Waller’s reelection in 1998, and one of those attorneys contributed to Waller’s ’98 and ’06 campaigns.

Jill, I heard from another activist that Tiller’s clinic has been closed since the big weekend of protests against it in July. You able to verify that?
Phil,
operation rescue has been monitoring this, the death camp in Wichita has been closed since July 28th.
“No babies have been killed by abortion in Wichita for a record 18 straight days to date.”

jasper, I often check in at OR. Thanks for the update.
Phil, jasper’s right on consecutive days closed.
Also, per an Operation Rescue press release yesterday:
This number exceeds the previous record of eleven consecutive abortion-free days set in 1991 during OR’s Summer of Mercy Rescues, making the summer of 2007 truly a Summer of God’s Mercy.
To your question, the vigil was July 14-16. The mill has been closed since July 28.
Let’s pray that it stays closed.
I went to the new Aurora (IL) Planned Parenthood Abortion Mill today to take a look at it. It is supposed to open on Sept. 18th. When I got there about 2PM today there were four ladies there praying the rosary. I joined in with them to pray the rosary. When we finished the rosary two other people from the area who were just driving by joined us. Then two more ladies joined us and soon afterward two priests joined us. We had 11 people there praying the rosary at the Abortuary. I was really happy about the turnout.
While we were there they had the sprinklers on for the grass. One lady commented its strange how Planned Parenthood puts so much effort to keep the grass alive but then terminates the lives of so many humans. It made us all think a bit.
If you can make it, come join us for the 40-day prayer vigil (I think its 24 hours). It
