Lunch Break: Father abandons son in foreclosed home
by LauraLoo
Steven Cross of Lakeville, MN was arrested this week in Cambria, CA for abandoning his 11-year-old son because his home was in foreclosure:
Could life get so bad that you would abandon your child ”for their own good?”
I understand Cross was in a state of emotional distress, but there were other options to choose from. He chose the worst option for both he and son Sebastian, and now the father was just arrested.
My heart breaks twice for Sebastian since he has a mother who never exercised her visitation rights and has no relationship with him.
Please pray for God to intervene in this family’s lives!

there are just some cases that cry for bringing back flogging.
Honestly, two adults who had a child and are acting like immature children.
I hope the aunt who is now raising this boy does good by him.
Well..no..the WORST option would be if he killed his son and then himself. Abandonment would be the SECOND worst option.
When the bank began foreclosure proceedings against my neighbor he shot and killed his elderly parents (who lived with him) and his children, then committed suicide. Pamela is right, that was probably a worse option.
len – something similar happened here in Mass. The man foreclosed on his home – shot his wife in the head, then his daughter who was my age and living at home, then himself. The daughter survived, miraculously, though with severe brain damage that affects her mentally and physically. After almost a year in rehab, she is going home soon – but you’d never know from talking to her what she had gone through, because she’s incredibly positive and strong. Hopefully this boy will be able to cope similarly.
My brother and I were left as kids. My brother was left for years in an institution and I was left with my grandparents. Hard as it was especially on my brother because he was left with strangers, he now is a wonderful devoted father of four and a great husband. So, as bad as it is at this moment, life can still go on and there are better days.
This economy has caused a lot of people to do a lot of things out of sheer desperation. I feel for this guy AND the boy. Pray for both of them.
Pamela, very true. Never entered my mind.
I’m continuing to pray for the dad, son and caregiving aunt.
Highly challenging thanks, I believe your current readers will likely want a good deal more posts such as this keep up the great work.
Thank you John. :)
