Stanek weekend question: What do you think of Romney’s choice of Ryan as running mate?

The waiting is over. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has chosen Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate, as excellent a pro-life candidate as could be. Read Ryan’s voting record on pro-life issues here. (NARAL’s assessment is also a fun read.)

In a nutshell, Ryan’s rating at NARAL was 0% in 2011, and his rating at National Right to Life was 100% in 2011.

Democrat platform committee warned: Soften abortion stance or lose

There were lots of interesting tidbits in Melinda Henneberger’s August 7 Washington Post piece, “Democratic abortion foes push for change in platform.”

For starters:

Democratic dissenters on the issue of abortion have made their case to the platform committee, arguing that the party should change its language enough to allow for some diversity of opinion on the matter and return to the “big tent” approach of the Clinton years.

[Democrats for Life president] Janet Robert, who founded Minnesota’s progressive talk radio station AM 950… was given seven minutes… to argue that the party simply cannot win back Congress without Democrats who differ from the ’08 platform on this one issue. She cited a slew of stats, including a Gallup poll from last year in which 44% of Democrats said abortion should only be legal “in a few circumstances.”

But with NARAL president Nancy Keenan on the platform committee, it ain’t gonna happen. Plus, the abortion lobby has more power than ever with ally Barack Obama at the helm.

Pro-life video of the day: Contraception question stumps Obama fans

by LauraLoo Revealing Politics decided to play along with our President’s distraction from the economy.  They sent their resident “expert on female issues,” Caleb Bonham, to interview attendees of the Obama/Fluke campaign event. Petition to Catholic leaders: Disinvite President Obama

We hold that if Cardinal John O’Connor didn’t invite pro-abort Bill Clinton in 1996, and if Cardinal Egan didn’t invite pro-abort John Kerry in 2004, then on what grounds could your Eminence find to invite Obama in 2012, when he has proven handily and has worked arduously since 2009 to act in defiance of our […]

New moms smarter than nonmoms

I mentioned the other day I’d read three crazy pro-abort tweets in a row (tweet #1 here, tweet #2 here).

Following is tweet #3, by RH Reality Check:

The linked article at Zee News states:

Pro-life video of the day: Abortion with a smiley face

by Hans Johnson A recurring theme in science fiction is portraying euthanasia as a pleasant, voluntary experience for the victim. This is not lost on Planned Parenthood, which released this video to “inform” the “one third of women who ‘experience’ abortion.” Notice the pleasant smiles throughout, especially that of the “patient’s” mother, who you would think […]

WashPo notes outgoing Komen CEO’s large salary, ignores Planned Parenthood CEO’s larger salary

Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s founder and CEO is stepping down.

Nancy Brinker is joined on her fall on the sword by her president and two board members, all denying the Planned Parenthood debacle had anything to do with it.

It didn’t have to be this way. They could have stood strong in their decision to defund the United States’ largest abortion provider, but they couldn’t handle the heat.

Since then no one has been happy. While MSM consistently portrays Komen’s loss of revenue as a show of displeasure by abortion proponents, it is just as likely disappointed and previously unaware pro-lifers are now withholding donations.
