Stanek Sunday funnies 11-18-12

Here were my top six favorite cartoons this week, starting with a twofer by Nate Beeler at Townhall.com

Stanek Sunday quote: “I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring”

I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring,      and my blessing on your descendants. They will spring up like grass in a meadow,      like poplar trees by flowing streams. ~ Isaiah 44:3b-4, New International Version

Stanek weekend question: Do Americans still value born life?

Our weekend question today comes from moderator Tyler, who writes:

I am astonished why so many people fail to appreciate that four Americans were killed in Libya. I believe this is a pro-life issue.  The respect for the lives of these Americans seems to be lost on the MSM, and even the general/world wide public.

The question is: Do Americans still value born life?

Check out this video of John McCain.  Why does he have answer such questions and emphasize the loss of life that has taken place in Benghazi?  Why doesn’t the MSM appreciate the seriousness of what happened?

Video intro, from YouTube: “After being asked whether the Petraeus scandal was a bigger national security threat than the Benghazi consulate attack, John McCain coldly tells a reporter, ‘That’s one of the dumbest questions I’ve ever heard.'”…

“Pro-life” congressman has abortion-prone past

Things were not going well between us and it was a mutual decision. I don’t think that it was easy for either one of us. I think it was a very difficult and poor choice and I think that there are probably regrets both ways. ~ 2001 divorce testimony of Republican Tennessee Congressman Scott DesJarlais, who […]

Pro-life blog buzz 11-16-12

 • Secular Pro-Life spots an employment ad seeking an abortionist for an apparently “lucrative” position with American Women’s Services, which “operates sixteen abortion offices on the East Coast.” And doctors don’t even have to have GYN training – what luck!

Abortion support rising? If so, thank the GOP for aiding and abetting

Rasmussen released a new poll on November 14 indicating that 54% of likely voters now consider themselves pro-choice, while only 38% say they are pro-life.

In the aftermath of the election I told friends to expect a bump in abortion support.

I’m not saying I believe the pendulum has swung the other way by 15 points since the May Gallup poll.

But of course the dial has moved, given the fact Obama and Democrats made such a huge pitch for abortion, and given the fact they embedded themselves, pardon the pun, as the champions of free contraception.

Pro-life video of the day: Forgiveness

by LauraLoo Forgiveness is a new Christian song by Matthew West.  It was inspired by Renee, a woman who lost her daughter in a drunk driving accident but eventually was able to extend forgiveness to Eric, the man who killed her daughter. What’s even more amazing is Renee fought to reduce the prison sentence of Eric by 50%.  […]

Ireland’s abortion ban at center of controversy in mother’s death

I don’t do abortions, I’ll tell you right now. … But I’d have to tell the mother, ‘Your baby doesn’t have a chance and to save your life, I have to do this.’

~ Dr. John Coppes, medical director at Austin Medical Center-Mayo Health System in Minnesota, stating his opinion regarding the recent controversial death of Savita Halappanavar (pictured right) in Ireland, CBS News, November 15

The hospital’s refusal to perform an abortion as she was miscarrying allegedly contributed to her death, according to her husband and pro-abortion activists.

The other side of the story, from World magazine, November 16:
