Pro-life video extra: MSNBC host – “Feelings” say when life begins
by Kelli
Yesterday, MSNBC’s tampon earrings fan Melissa Harris Perry spilled the beans on which side of the abortion debate is more strongly based in science:
When a pregnancy is wanted… it is easy to think of the bump as a baby, but not every pregnancy is a fairy tale….
When does life begin? I submit the answer depends an awful lot on the feeling of the parents – a powerful feeling – but not science. The problem is that many of our policymakers want to base sweeping laws on those feelings.
On her program, Harris-Perry features Dr. Willie Parker of Family Planning Associates of Chicago and Physicians for Reproductive Choice as her “expert” on fetal pain.
What she doesn’t say is that Parker’s clinic in Chicago does abortions up to 23.5 weeks, but he is also known for performing abortions in other states. He points to his “Christian faith” as the reason he performs abortions.
Perry and her pro-choice guests try very hard to equate abortion with “all other choices” that are made by women:

Oh my goodness not this garbage again. I am STILL not alive lol, according to these idiots. I have no patience for their metaphysical new-agey crap.
I still can’t recover from the fact that her “expert” in fetal pain is a notorious abortionist. I mean… wow, lady.
Well duh, if the person ripping apart the fetus says it doesn’t cause any pain, why wouldn’t you believe him/her Kel? Don’t you think that’s an impartial expert?
If the lefty feels that you are not alive, or should not be alive, they will make it so, at any stage of development.
Should we ever be negotiating law or policy with these individuals?
Pharmer, I don’t know of any other way. If you know of another way besides negotiation I would like to hear it. I do think we need to take their concern about “not trusting women” seriously. For many, the loss of autonomy (especially, if like Dr. Singer, you believe individuals have the right/liberty to kill) – and it is an actual loss, in my opinion – experienced by women who believe abortion is legitimate and ethically ok is what causes them to feel and, thereby claim, that women are not being trusted. We have to show them that restricting abortions is not about a lack of trust but that it is about many other important issues that are just as, if not more important, than a woman’s autonomy. For example, the abortion procedure is about validating or invalidating the worth of the preborn child, terminating or not terminating the life of the preborn child, and, in the spirit of poetic justice, it is about trusting and supporting women to be mothers. Both prolifers and prochoicers want mothers/parents to succeed. We have common ground. Let’s focus on that.
Where does MSNBC find these hosts, anyway?

In Harris-Perry’s case, frighteningly, an institution of “higher learning.” Not necessarily of clear thinking, I might add.

Sometimes I feel like I didn’t actually miss that much not getting an education.
I feel like some of these people got their view of the world from Pinocchio. It’s silly. You’re not a real boy because you’re not loved! I don’t understand viewing humans like that at all.
Abortion, as an issue, is a canary in civilization’s mine shaft. Jack, when the culture’s conscience has died and left this kind of rot, it’s a sign of more doom to come.
Hysteresis.
So…that means all of the biology textbooks, medical and biology documentaries, scientists, and medical experts that told me that life begins at conception…are LYING?
Gee, I’m sure happy that this liberal MSNBC host and the abortionist has set me straight.
Sure makes sense to me. Who else would know about fetal pain but the person inflicting it?
It’s all sick.
Those stupid tampon earrings of hers are slowly absorbing what little is left of her brain.
Endless frustration … is what we are presented! We try to be thorough re. ‘science’, but common sense is inadequate so scratch common sense/mindful dialogue as effevtively futile. Then, I think we need too pursue why a child is wanted or unwanted and not just assume anyone fits neatly into such categorizing. There is always the fickleness/changeability of this label-distinction; so much so, many would call such labeling spurious.
Why don’t ALL parents revolt at this happening to anyone’s child? If there is a problem FIX THE PROBLEM, but do not kill the baby (any baby). I find it appalling that parents can debate this as if it was an ‘issue’ …. their lack-of-sensitivity/open-abandonment of these defenseless beings arises because of a misplaced perspective. Historically because pregnant women often died giving birth. The act of birth amounted to a-celebration-of-beginning …total-beginning. Human life BEGINS AT CONCEPTION … our beginning was 9 months before our birth. PL is about protecting ‘human’ life’. Being wanted/unwanted is a feature that can change to be more adult-human.. It is OUR ATTITUDE (AS PARENTS) that needs changing & oftentimes this ‘attitude’ will require much effort. To find joy/acceptance of a handicapped child happens, but not often.
US law once arbitrarily declared that human beings of African heritage were only persons if the state in which they lived deemed it so or a slave owner “felt” they were and freed them.
