In an effort to persuade younger generations to become legal abortion advocates, the Center for Reproductive Rights released its latest public service announcement featuring Tony and Grammy Award-winning actress and singer Dee Dee Bridgewater.

While strongly in favor of abortion, Dee Dee still “want[s] to cry” when she recalls her illegal abortion experience from nearly half a century ago. At that time, she would have been approximately 18 years old.

After reading Robin Marty’s piece in Think Progress the other day about abortion doctor Cheryl Chastine (pictured right), I thought I’d peruse some of Chastine’s tweets to see what she has been up to.

Chastine is on the cusp of sacrificing a promising career as a legitimate ob/gyn to to take abortionist George Tiller’s place at his retooled abortion clinic in Wichita.

I’ve loosely followed Chastine’s whereabouts since I took part in Pro-Life Action League’s first protest and “outing” of her at her former Oak Park, Illinois, practice last April.

I say “former” because the doctors at her day job let her go due to the public turmoil created by pro-life exposure of her circuit-riding job.

So I was scanning @DrJaneChi’s tweets and was struck first by the amount of time she seems to have on her hands, not a surprise since her abortion clinic’s business is apparently slow, but second by Chastine’s adolescent foul mouth.

• Americans United for Life applauds a coalition of black pastors and leaders in Illinois who are urging the passage of laws to protect women from the same negligent treatment that resulted in the death of Tonya Reaves at a Chicago Planned Parenthood. Reaves died as a result of a botched abortion. Reaves’ family filed a wrongful death suit and PP paid $2M. The coalition is seeking passage of two bills that would require informed consent before an abortion and would also require abortion facilities to have the same standards as ambulatory surgical centers.
