Pro-life news brief 10-16-14

by JivinJ, host of the blog, JivinJehoshaphat The New York Times covers Planned Parenthood’s continuing attempts to corner the market on abortion. They’re building a $9 million facility in Queens: While there are other women’s health centers in Queens that offer abortions, the absence of a Planned Parenthood was “something that had to be corrected,” […]

Pro-life vid of day: Created Equal jumbotron comes to Philly

At the 2013 March for Life, Created Equal displayed a jumbotron video, which opened with the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. quoting the famous preamble of the Declaration of Independence concerning life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Following his remarks, the video featured the graphically  horrifying results of abortion. This Friday, the group will bring the 10X12 ft. jumbotron to the place where those famous words were first proclaimed to the American people.

Executive Director Mark Harrington said of the campaign:

Woman finds out at six months she’s pregnant with rare twins

by Kelli I had really sharp pain in my left side and went into the doctor, and they said we think you might be pregnant. They told me I was six months and told me to get down to the ER. They did an ultrasound and told me it was twins…. They’re both just little […]

Pro-life vid of the day: The Prayer Vigil Challenge

by Hans Johnson Since the Supreme Court ruled against the Massachusetts Buffer Zone law last June, students from the Immaculate Heart of Mary School of Still River have issued a Prayer Vigil Challenge to neighboring schools. Says Joseph Duffy, who is president of the school’s John the Baptist Pro-Life League: “Our aim is simple: to close […]

Country singer Gretchen Peters worried about pro-life legislation

by Carder What scares me about what is happening in the mid-terms in Tennessee is that the amendment that’s on the ballot would actually not provide for abortion in the case of rape or the potential death of the mother. That is extreme…. I got some really quite ugly hate mail, but to me country […]

Pro-life blog buzz 10-14-14

pro-lifeby Susie Allen, host of the blog, Pro-Life in TN, and Kelli

  • American Life League’s Judie Brown contrasts the indifference toward the slaughter of 3,000 humans daily by abortion in America to the outcry over the euthanasia of an Ebola patient’s dog in Spain. Brown is a dog lover, but even she was shocked at the huge response to save the life of one animal:

Here is the first sentence of a news report that came to my attention recently: “With more than 3,400 people dead in west Africa and 7,500 infected in the latest Ebola outbreak, 300,000 people sign a petition demanding action… to save an infected dog.” This was twice as many people as those who signed a petition demanding a cure be found for the deadly virus….

As it turns out, the dog was “put down” Wednesday by Madrid’s regional government. But the fact of the matter is that the plight of this one pet generated more interest and involvement than a single preborn child threatened and then killed by the act of abortion.

There is something dramatically wrong with this picture.

Pro-life daily vid: Planned Parenthood “noble and just,” says heckler

PPPteardropsm

by Hans Johnson

A poll done for Students for Life of America showed that 59% of 18-24-olds didn’t know that Planned Parenthood performed abortions. And since 79% of their facilities are within five miles of a college campus, the pro-life group decided to launch the Planned Parenthood Project to inform this young targeted group. Besides photo displays, the group uses 915 small pink crosses to represent the number of babies killed each day in PP’s facilities.

In three of a series of four YouTube videos shot at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, an exchange with one pro-choice supporter went from rote argument to entertainingly bizarre. Calling PP “a noble and just organization” as he paced back and forth, he went on to exclaim: “Abort it all you want! I don’t care!” and “Abort away, as far as I’m concerned!” But you have to wonder how much careful thought he has put into this when he invokes the Norse god of mischief (here, in this additional video), declaring, “I am Loki!”  One wishes his “brother” Thor would give him a serious talking-to.

Be sure to turn on closed-captioning.

Jennifer Lawrence and the objectification of women

jennifer-lawrenceby Kelli

By insinuating that women ought to “pay up” and provide naked photos of themselves to whatever man they’re in a relationship with at the moment, [actress Jennifer] Lawrence objectifies women. She degrades them as little more than sex objects, designed to satisfy the appetites of men.
