Woman finds out at six months she’s pregnant with rare twins
I had really sharp pain in my left side and went into the doctor, and they said we think you might be pregnant. They told me I was six months and told me to get down to the ER. They did an ultrasound and told me it was twins….
They’re both just little miracles [and] they’re so cute[;] it could have been so many things that went wrong that didn’t.
~ Shelby Magnani, an Iowa woman who went six months without knowing she was pregnant with monoamniotic twins (who share one placenta and one amniotic sac) Anna and Ava, as quoted by Global News, October 14

Not just pregnant, but pregnant with TWINS, and at SIX MONTHS? And she had no idea??
I have to wonder what they’re teaching in schools these days. :D
But seriously… congratulations to them. So happy things turned out well!

The main lesson taught to children is, “If you use contraception, you won’t get pregnant.”
And so the obvious symptoms are ignored and explained away, under the impression that pregnancy is not possible.
We didn’t have “I didn’t know I was pregnant” in the days before contraception. Everyone then knew that sex makes babies.
Anyhow, congratulations to the young couple who averted a near-tragedy. And now they will have a couple of extra guests at the wedding!

Wedding? What wedding? I didn’t see any mention of a wedding.

Reality, the father of the babies is referred to as her fiance in the article, so I’m assuming there would be a wedding at some point.

Thanks Kate. I guess it might happen eventually then.

One reason why it is important for women of childbearing age to always take care of themselves — proper nutrition, rest, etc.

I’d like to think that could apply to both (all?) genders across all age groups MoJoanne. I make an effort to get proper nutrition and adequate rest yet I ain’t gonna get preggers any time soon :-)

I could never understand how women could not realize they were pregnant, but I guess all women experience pregnancy differently.
