Wesley Smith is there to shoot her “arguments” down:
This administration promised to be transparent: Instead it is opaque. It promised to heal divisions: Instead it is worsening them. It promised honesty, but its policy arguments are profoundly misleading to the point of mendacity.
The only reason he can get away with it is that the media remains immersed in the tank. If that ever changes, Obama could be in deep political trouble….
According to the suit, the school has allowed other groups to hold events without presenting opposing viewpoints, including one with a clergyman on why faith communities should be allies with the gay and lesbian community.
The proposed changes are being debated this week and, if accepted as drafted, doctors who oppose abortion (for whatever reason) will no longer have the option of refusing to assist a woman requesting abortion. The college claims doctors won’t have to refer her directly to abortion providers, but they will have to ensure she has “access to information and assistance in making an informed decision and access to available medical options.”

This quote from the Calgary Herald says it all.
We have given abortion a unique and sacrosanct place in our society; we can’t question it and we have implicitly decided to ignore all medical and psychological concerns in the name of a woman’s right to choose.
In Canada abortion is something not even discussed. A woman has an absolute right to kill her baby right up to the due date. Even our “conservative” leader will not allow abortion to be discussed.
Joanne, outside of sites like this, Abortion is not much discussed in the US either. It’s pretty settled in our national consensus.
Barnes lost me at “shared values.”
At one time Slavery was a SETTLED ISSUE, Hal. Nothing is set in stone.
I’ll agree it’s not set in stone. Public opinion could someday change. Slavery (at least in the US) is not a good comparison, as it was controversial since at least the Constitutional Convention.
slavery: blacks only consider 3/5th human
abortion: the unborn human not considered human or worthy of protection.
Looks similar to me.
Jews didn’t choose the Holocaust. Blacks didn’t choose Slavery. Babies DO NOT choose ABORTION.

“At one time Slavery was a SETTLED ISSUE, Hal. Nothing is set in stone.”

Slavery was never a settled issue. The debate ebbed and flowed, but it was never ‘settled’ except in the wishfull thinking of the slavers.
They did their utmost to stifle debate in both houses of Congress and in the south. But those pesky Christians just would not let it go.
They kept stirring the pot and they even had the temerity to violate federal laws against assisting escaped slaves. Some of the misguided zealots even went to prison.
Those narrow minded bible thumpin busy bodies were pushing their morality on other people. Some of them were even inciting the slaves to insurrection. Why one of the terrorist actually broke into federal aresenal at Harpers Ferry and would have given the weapons to the slaves if the United States military had not saved the day.
That was just an aberration. The issue was settled at the ratification of the constitution. The civil war never happened, really. It was just some people who lost control of their tempers. It was all about states rights. Slavery was only a peripheral issue at best.
The debate over slavery was settled, done, i’s dotted, t’ crossed, saucered and blowed deal.

Liz,
I know what you meant. I am not poking fun at you. I am illustrating the absurdity of those who keep trying to convince themselves that ‘abortion’ is a settled issue.
They would not invest their time here if they really believed that to be the case.
