Churches file federal complaint to stop CA from forcing abortion insurance coverage

Central-Baptist-HattiesburgDuring U.S. Supreme Court arguments on the Hobby Lobby case, liberals mocked Justice Kennedy for asking the Obama administration’s lawyer whether its contraception mandate could also force for-profit companies to cover abortions in their insurance policies.

Only five months later liberals have taken this to the unimaginable extreme: On August 22, the California Department of Managed Health Care announced that all employers offering health insurance – not just for-profit but also nonprofit, religious institutions, and churches – had to provide coverage for all elective abortions.

Singer Charlie Daniels supports Catholic nuns in Obamacare legal battle

by Carder It’s a disgrace when the only people with the guts to face down Obama is a group of Catholic Nuns. God bless you Sisters. ~ Country singer Charlie Daniels tweeting his support for the Little Sisters of the Poor in their legal ordeal with the Obamacare/HHS contraception mandate, via Twitchy, January 3 Extra: Tea […]

Dr. James Dobson sues over HHS contraception mandate

by Carder As Americans, we should all be free to live according to our faith and to honor God in our work…. The Constitution protects that freedom so that the government cannot force anyone to act against his or her sincerely held religious beliefs. But the mandate ignores that and leaves us with a choice […]

Romney and Obama at the Al Smith Dinner

I had never heard of the Al Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner before the flak that arose over President Obama being invited this year.

According to Wiki the event is “is an annual white tie charity fundraiser for [local] Catholic charities, held at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York on the third Thursday of October… in honor of former NY Governor Al Smith, the first Catholic presidential candidate. The first dinner was in 1945, the year after Al Smith’s death.”

Last night’s event raised $5 million.

Wiki goes on to explain the Al Smith Dinner’s foray into presidential abortion politics:

If only Muslims were rioting over the HHS mandate, Obama would apologize

Muslim radicals chose yesterday, September 11, to storm, torch, and loot the American embassies in Egypt and Libya, killing the U.S. Ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens, and three staff members in the process. This is not only a tragedy but an international crisis.

The riots were apparently instigated by a (strange and really bad) film depicting Muhammad as a religious fanatic, rapist, philanderer, pedophile, homosexual, torturer, and “murderous thug.”

Before the attack, the U.S. Embassy in Cairo issued this statement, not condemning but apologizing for the free speech that went on to trigger the attack of its own embassy. One wonders if the apology bolstered the mob. I’m surprised the link is still live. Here’s a screen shot in case it is removed. Click to enlarge…

If Planned Parenthood were named Halliburton, would MSM notice the collusion?

If the CEO of Halliburton ever gave a speech at the Republican National Convention, it is a sure bet liberals and the mainstream media would go into convulsions and accuse Halliburton and the GOP of collusion.

After all, how smelly would it be for a Big Oil recipient of taxpayer funding to schmooze for the political party deemed to have provided that funding?

Yet no one in the media batted an eye when the CEO of Planned Parenthood, America’s Big Abortion business and recipient of $500 million annually in taxpayer funding, shilled for the Democrat Party during its convention last week, getting a prime time speaking spot to boot. In fact, home town media bragged

Petition to Catholic leaders: Disinvite President Obama

We hold that if Cardinal John O’Connor didn’t invite pro-abort Bill Clinton in 1996, and if Cardinal Egan didn’t invite pro-abort John Kerry in 2004, then on what grounds could your Eminence find to invite Obama in 2012, when he has proven handily and has worked arduously since 2009 to act in defiance of our […]

Evangelicals and Catholics unite against HHS mandate

Before Wheaton’s move, most plaintiffs suing over the mandate were Catholic colleges and organizations that follow the Vatican’s teaching against birth control. Most of the 58 plaintiffs in the 24 lawsuits are Catholic dioceses, colleges and charity groups. But Wheaton’s involvement shows that Catholics aren’t alone in opposing the mandate, since many evangelical Christians view […]
