• Americans United for Life notes that the Guttmacher Institute’s latest report shows a decline in abortion numbers, along with a record number of pro-life laws enacted. And yet, Guttmacher claims the laws had no impact on abortion. AUL also notes that the reporting of surgical and chemical abortions is still voluntary, by state, and California chooses not to participate at all.

• Joe Carter responds to the NY Times story editorial on the passage of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act:
  

  Which Republican leaders made the claim? Peters doesn’t say. He also doesn’t explain how — or even if — the abortion issue hurt the GOP with women in 2012. But everyone at the New York Times already knows it did, and common knowledge doesn’t need to be supported with facts, right? And there is no issue here of married women vs. single women, when it comes to voting. Right? All women support abortion rights, or so Peters would have us think.

Scientific American termed the research findings another way: “Scientists discover children’s cells living in mothers’ brains.”

But I wanted to drive home a touching point: Mothers who terminate their pregnancies apparently don’t completely rid themselves of their babies. The cells of murdered children live on inside their mothers to help – or perhaps – hurt them:

• Michael New gives his take on the media’s claim that contraceptive use was the primary contributor to the decrease in 2009 abortion rates. There is no evidence to suggest that contraceptive use increased that year – however, New points out that it was the first year that a majority of Americans identified themselves as pro-life.

The embryonic stem cell research industry received a second big blow last week when in an ABC interview actor and huge embryonic stem cell research proponent Michael J. Fox admitted escr isn’t panning out to be all he and others touted it to be in the fight against his own Parkinson’s disease and other maladies and injuries.

The first blow came six months ago when escr’s original proponent, Geron Corporation, announced it was cutting its losses and pulling out.
