Jivin J’s Life Links 5-19-10

Like many religious Christians, strictly observant Catholics typically regard all fetuses as carrying the divine spark of human life. And so they urge that the tragedy or rape should not be compounded by a second moral tragedy.
Not that you would know any of this from the freaked out reaction by many pro-choice politicians and pundits. Parti Quebecois leader Pauline Marois said she was “completely outraged” by the Cardinal’s remarks. A columnist with Montreal’s La Presse newspaper, Patrick Lagace, said he wished that the Cardinal “dies from a long and painful illness.” Even Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Josee Verner — whose international maternal-health policies the Cardinal supports — declared that the man’s remarks were “unacceptable.”
When, exactly, did it become “unacceptable” for a man of faith to articulate his Church’s position on a controversial bioethical issue?

And that’s why he’s the Cardinal and there not.
God Bless Cardinal Oullet.
“Blessed are you when men persecute you and say all manner of evil about you, for my sake.”
McCain cannot be trusted to be pro-life. Just listen to his wife. And now that the election is on and JD Hayworth is going to kick his butt, he becomes this maverick conservative? Don’t be fooled, McCain is a phony.
Laura Bush anyone…….???
I’m beginning to think Ex-GOP is right. Republicans are no guarantee that anything pro-life will get passed. However, I disagree with EGV that we should therefore embrace the Democrats.
As for me, it’s strictly conservatism from now on and no party affiliation.
I say throw every single one of these lying bas**rds out and elect rabid conservatives.
“Like many religious Christians, strictly observant Catholics typically regard all fetuses as carrying the divine spark of human life. ”
How beautifully poetic. While Cardinal Ouellet is obviously a holy man of God, his detractors sound possessed.

Re Belgian physicians and euthanasia…
When physicians are no longer considered “healers”, it shouldn’t be surprising to anyone when they take life into their own hands at both ends of the life continuum.
More now than ever, we need to heed the words “you know not the day nor the hour”. Baby boomers beware.
you’d think with Quebecers having one of the lowest birthrates in the world, that they’d sorta realize that maybe abortion and contraception (particularly sterilization) haven’t been too good for their culture….
The other thing that bothers me is that with Canada’s hate laws I’m quite certain if the good Catholic bishop had made the same statement about Patrick Lagace, he’d be charged (somehow) with uttering hate…
Apparently, these laws apply only to Christians who preach the Bible and talk about what their faith beliefs are.
