Stanek weekend question I: What were the top 10 pro-life news stories of 2010?
There was a lot of action on the Life issue in 2010, both good and bad (although much more of the former than the latter, IMO).
Looking back, what do you think was one or more of the top 10 pro-life news stories of the year? I may use your thoughts in an upcoming WorldNetDaily.com column.

Gotta be the fetus funeral – the ultimate dumpster dive!
The pro-life victory of Amendment 62, as we further raised the bar as more people than ever in Colorado voted to ban abortion here 100%, no exceptions.
In 2008, polling had shown that support for this would be about 15%. We increased that by 60% in a single campaign of a few months, getting roughly 25%. Now, in 2010, we raised the bar further, another 5%! (And that was with almost every major pro-life organization actually opposed to the Personhood bill, including Nat’l Right to Life, Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum, Steve Ertelt’s LifeNews, very little support from Focus on the Family, etc.!)
William Wilberforce kept proposing anti-slavery legislation for 19 years until he succeeded, and then only because he quit working for regulation of slavery and focused on no-exceptions abolition. (He actually repented of trying to regulate slavery, and once he succeeded in banning it in Britain, he came to America to warn abolitionists here to stop supporting compromised regulation of this abomination.) In England in his day, there was actually a saying every Fall…. “It’s autumn, and the leaves are turning color, and William Wilberforce has another bill in the House.”
He never gave up, and neither will we. We are marching forward, and every step is victory in Jesus’ name! Abortion WILL end in Jesus’ name, and since Colorado first legalized abortion in 1967 (signed into law by Republican governor John Love), we want to be the first to abolish it!
2012, here we come! Never give up, never surrender! NO EXCEPTIONS!
Here’s a great analysis from America’s very first anti-abortion organization, Colorado Right to Life:

Kids with Down Syndrome being highly valued members of their communities. Which is a MIRACLE when you consider how cliquish and snotty high school kids can often be. These kids with DS bring out the best in their classmates: http://www.11alive.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=163284&provider=top

http://www.bound4life.com siege of the Planned Parenthood Flagship moneymaker in Houston TX on 1/18/2010. We expected – optimistically – 900 people. Over 4000 showed up and surrounded the abortion headquarters in silent prayer for the entire day. Total number of pro-choicers who showed up to counter-protest was under two dozen.
Christina,
Good, heart-warming post and article about the Down’s Syndrome kids.
Which is a MIRACLE when you consider how cliquish and snotty high school kids can often be.
Oh, you are so right. I shudder to think….
Top Pro-Life Stories:
– Pro-Life Groups Fighting Against Pro-Abortion, Pro-Rationing Healthcare Bill
– NRLC blowing the whistle on temp high risk pools covering abortion in several states
– 2010 Electoral Gains: Particularly the large number of pro-life women elected to office like Kelly Ayotte, Susana Martinez, Mary Fallin, Nikki Haley, Renee Ellmers, Kristi Noem, etc.
– Pro-Life turned Pro-Abortion Democrats selling out on healthcare bill and then being evicted from office in November. (ex: Carney, Driehaus, Dahlkemper, etc)
Also: Nebraska’s passage of Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act! Critical and ground-breaking pro-life legislative victory! (And the ensuing publicity of Carhart traveling the country looking for a new homebase)
To correct the record, LifeNews.com did not oppose Amendment 62.
What we did was accurately report on how the amendment fared, and it was completely and totally eviscerated at the polls — twice.
I’m not going to say anything more because this post is not a place to debate the amendment again, but a place to talk about the biggest pro-life news stories of 2010.
