Another black eye for birth control?
… [F]or a birth-control shot that offers a convenient alternative for women who don’t want to remember to take a daily pill, the irony is that it may impair memory.
~ Angela Gonzales, reporting on a recent study linking the Depo-Provera shot to memory loss, Phoenix Business Journal, November 1

How weird. Now you can’t remember if you had sex.
“Animals that had not been given this drug for months were still memory-impaired compared to animals that didn’t take the drug.”
That’s actually pretty scary. For the sake of all those that utilized Depo-Provera, I hope this turns out not to be the case with humans.
Did I get that shot or not….?
i took this poison for 14 years. i had 0 periods but i may have been contracepting my children out of existance. my memory seems okay. i used to be pro contraception. i guess if anything bad happens as a result then i get what i deserve.
you should have said another black out. i did get a lot of migraines on it though.
@ doug just got that …lol
I had numerous CPC clients who were on the Depo shot. An inordinate number of them had problems with continuous menstrual bleeding.
yes kel. it either stops your period or the opposite happens. my friend tried it and bled every day.
Heather,
NO. NO. NO. You don’t “get what you deserve!!”
Did you know what it could do to your body before you took it??
Have some grace for yourself, babe.
@ carla no i didnt. planned parenthood told me i wouldnt ovulate and my uterine lining would thin. i thought it sounded good and o period sounded even better. thanks for the compassion though. i needed it today;) however i really only punished myself with different sexual partners. heartache. confusing love with lust.
We sinned. Yes indeed.
So amazed at such a loving God that would look on me and forgive me for ALL I did back then. I was on a very dangerous path and struggled and suffered because of it.
He will restore the years the locusts have eaten, Heather.
We are the daughters of a King!! :)
When we were newly weds, i thought this would be the easiest, most fool-proof way to go. I am so glad I researched before hand! Did not end up taking it, or any hormones for that matter. The sad thing is I bet 100 bucks that I could have very easily gotten it without much relevant info volunteered to me by a doc’s office. The OB world, even Christian ones, naturally assume any sane woman who’s active must be on BC. But the risks are always downplayed (I have been offered many different types).
carla yes god is good. the same planned parenthood i went to is the same one i now protest in the burbs:) yes what a turn around!
The term ought to be “contraception” rather than “birth control.” The latter term could include abortion. It seems to me that those opposed to abortion should be in favor of research into better contraception and the widespread use of contraception since it is obviously better not to get pregnant that to get pregnant and abort.
Yes, we can encourage celibacy. We should encourage celibacy.
But we also have to live in the real world in which sexual activity is not restricted to those women who want to get pregnant.
