During “November Saneness” I think the majority will fill out their “Barackotology” as “Anybody but”.
I wonder how Not Mitt would do if he/she was on the primary ballots. Very well I think.
I guess you could say Hillary was the original “No Mitt”, if you remember her forswearing of baking cookies. ;)
Scratching my head – how did Mitt do it?
Santorum had too many skeletons.
What skeletons are you referring to xalisae? I am not aware of any.
Tyler, I think it was Santorum going attack on Mitt. He should have stuck to Obama bashing.
Plus he shows his teeth too much. Reminds me of Carter. ;)
Santorum is too much of a doom and gloom kind of guy. As far back as I can remember, it seems the more optimistic candidate always wins. And depite our country’s moral decline in some areas, there are good things he could have focused on. How about the fact that younger people are increasingly becoming pro-life?
America is better off not nominating Santorum. If Santorum does happen to win the nomination, he only a tiny chance of beating Obama. After that, everytime a strong pro-lifer is making waves in the primary, People will point to Santorum to claim that strong pro-lifers are “unelectable.
Mountain Man – I am not sure I agree completely with your ideas about why Santorum has not done better, but there is certainly truth in it. But I am 100% with you about the bad part of him losing. I would rather see him live to fight another day for sure.
Tyler-
He voted to fund Planned Parenthood. That’s the skeleton that came out that affected me. If you take away the hard stance on abortion Santorum’s been touting, there’s really not much difference between him and Mittens. And then it becomes just an issue of economics, which I think Mittens has in the bag, as much as I loathe the guy. I loathe the president we have now, but at least Mittens will be a president I can loathe who works for me, not my nation’s enemies.
xalisae, I think the push by the GOP establishment and pro-Romney side has tried to discredit Santorum. I think Romeny et al want to hold Santorum to a higher standard than either Romney or Obama are held to because they know Santorum is such a decent and principled person. They can’t fault with his views or his points so that they simply want to say “Well, he is not perfect!” And Santorum never claimed he was perfect - just that he is better for the United States than are Romany and Obama. So, yes the press has done a good job in baiting Santorum.
Santorum explained that none of the dollars that were going to PP were going to go towards abortion – it wasn’t allowed. Romeny’s previous pro-choice stance, on the other hand, is very well known. Furthermore, Santorum was not the only pro-life politician to support the bill that gave money to PP so it is a bit much if this is the reason why people won’t support Santorum or try to discredit his pro-life creds. I think the Right is running scared right now and I am not sure why. One possible reason that the GOP may be running scared is because the establishment are not confident in their pick. Alternatively, it may be that Romney Campaign might be creating a huge push to close the deal. Perhaps for these reasons this is the time for Santorum supporters to hold strong and to weather the rough waters.
Obama’s policies seem tailored made for Santorum to discredit.
Lastly, I don’t the GOP should settle on a Candidate prior to getting the judgement from the Supreme Court on the PPACA. The Court’s decision of that piece of legislation will impact how the General election will be fought.
xalisae, you think President Obama is working for our nation’s enemies?
I would rather support a candidate who is authentic, makes mistakes, and admits mistakes than someone who will do and say anything to get elected – been there, done that.
I don’t think Santorum should let the GOP establishment betrayal get to him.
Hal,
I think he is an enemy himself. It couldn’t be any more obvious. No one is THAT stupid. I think his fiscal policies are intentionally disastrous. He’s already made statements that show he has more loyalty to Putin’s New Soviet Union than he does to the American people. At least Jimmy Carter was genuinely stupid. Obama’s just a terrible actor. He loves himself too much to let anyone think he’s that dumb.
