Pro-life news brief 7-6-12

by JivinJ, host of the blog, JivinJehoshaphat

  • NPR has a long story on forced abortion, the One-Child Policy, and future population problems in China.
  • Fifteen Chinese scholars have issued a public letter calling for the Chinese government to rethink their One-Child Policy:

“The birth approval system built on the idea of controlling population size as emphasized in the current ‘Population and Family Planning Law‘ does not accord with provisions on the protection of human rights contained in the nation’s constitution,” the authors of Thursday’s letter wrote, adding that a rewriting of the law was “imperative.” …

Researchers with the Research Development Center, a prominent government-affiliated think tank, added their voices to the chorus on Tuesday with an open call for Beijing to consider revising the policy, though they made no mention of Ms. Feng. Instead, the researchers focused on China’s rapidly aging population and a predicted dearth of young workers that some have said could bring about a demographic crisis.

Pro-life video of the day: Face the Truth Tour 2012 starts today

by LauraLoo

Today starts the 2012 Face the Truth Tour by Chicago’s Pro-Life Action League.

Wrote organizer Eric Scheidler in an email yesterday:

On the Face the Truth Tour, League staff and volunteers take large posters of aborted babies out to major intersections to bring the ugly reality of abortion to the public.

This is a controversial campaign, and even many in the pro-life movement are uncomfortable with it.

To address that controversy and show why a campaign like this is needed, the League has put together a short, 2-minute video on Face the Truth:

Former Chinese birth control official shares experience in new novel

Ms. Sheng recalls seeing lines of girls, most of whom had little sex education and scant knowledge of contraceptives, queuing for abortions. The gynecology ward in the average Shenzhen hospital was the most profitable of all. “The drains in the city are filled with blood,” she says. ~ The Wall Street Journal, quoting author Sheng […]

Abortion proponents injure pro-life vet and elderly man in two separate attacks

In recent days we have reported on the assault of a pro-life protester (caught on video and followed by arrest) and the vandalization of a pro-life leader’s home.

Here are two more attacks by abortion supporters against pro-lifers to report.

The first occurred June 30 and is in follow-up to my story that pro-life activists planned to distribute flyers outing country singer JoDell Nauert as the owner of three abortion clinics at an Independence Day gig.

This was ironically a charity event for a group supporting handicapped children and adults.

Pro-life video of the day: Birth MRI

by Hans Johnson You may remember the post of an MRI of twins in utero. Here is a sequel, of sorts, shown in New Scientist. This one has a new star, shown in the second stage of labor. E-mail your video suggestions to dailyvid@jillstanek.com [HT: The Blaze]

BPAS: Planning for sex like planning for rain

Our Just in Case kit means you have a back-up there when you need it, wherever you happen to be…. If you carry an umbrella in your bag or a spare tyre in your boot no one would suggest you are hoping for rain or planning on a puncture. Having the morning-after-pill to hand is […]

Pro-life video of the day: Pennsylvania hospital merger spells an end to abortions

by Hans Johnson Financial pressures are causing non-profit hospital mergers. One recent merger in a suburb just north of Philadelphia between  Abington Health and Holy Redeemer Health System will end abortions at Abington Memorial Hospital. Here is some reaction, as reported by WCAU. What is yours? Send your e-mail suggestions to dailyvid@jillstanek.com

Pro-life leader’s home vandalized in wake of Newsweek article

Warning: Vulgarity ahead.

I wrote last week that a Newsweek article favorable to the personhood movement and personhood leaders Keith and Jennifer Mason had “riled abortion proponents.” Little did I know how much.
