And everyone has the right to have whatever sex they want, whenever they want, with whomever they want (provided the other person(s) is(are) down with that, of course). But, for a long time, men have used sex to control women. However, now, for various reasons, that is no longer the case for the most part. However, there are still some things that might prevent some people from having the sex they want. Since sex is good, things that stand in the way of it are bad. And are relics of an age where sex was used to control women. Among the things that stand in the way of people having the sex they want are children, who cost money, take up time and energy, and require lots of attention. Abortion prevents children (devil’s advocate, remember; stay with me, here). Anyone who stands in the way of abortion is standing in the way of people having the sex they want. Since sex is a personal action and it is therefore illogical to prevent it on a public scale, the reasons for such opposition must be illogical, and stem from personal preferences. Therefore, either abortion opponents dislike sex or they dislike women or both. Those people are attempting, by limiting abortion, to require those who do not share their dislike to act as if they do. And that is unfair. Vaginas, as female sexual organs, nicely combine the two concepts that those who oppose abortion must dislike and are therefore useful as symbols of empowerment. These displays will demonstrate there is nothing threatening about women or sex and those who dislike them will, ideally, learn not to. Failing that, they will be made uncomfortable, which is a mild response to an attempt to legislate something so unfair.

I’ve been trying to figure out the tone, tenor and timbre of CCs typed laughing. Is it a chortle? Is it the derisive equivalent of the slow clap? Is it a sincere guffaw — perhaps punctuated by a grand slap of the knee?
On the face of it, it’s macabre, because she seems to laugh most when the near context consists of allusion to an increased number of abortions — not an increased number of authentic “choices” which might also include choices for life.
However much CC may claim to be in favor of choice, it’s really hard to resist concluding from the evidence that she’s more in favor of abortion, and yearns to see fewer women convinced of the merits of choosing life.
A thought makes me shudder: are such moments of rhetorical glee the high points of CC’s day/week/life?
