Study: Men walk slower with female partners in unconscious move to reproduce
7%: The amount a man reduces his speed when he’s walking with his wife or girlfriend as opposed to a platonic female friend, according to an October 2013 study published in the journal PLOS One.
The reason sounds downright Darwinian: When a woman moves at a quicker-than-comfortable clip, it can disrupt her reproductive system (no kidding). So a man slows down to match his partner’s pace in an unconscious move to reproduce.
Hey, you want to have kids; he wants to take it slow. It might work out for both of you.

Disrupt our reproductive system? What?!
A kick to the butt might disrupt his (or his chances) if he’s impolite, I’ll give you that.
I just like to prolong the intimacy of some quiet time together. I wish my wife didn’t want to walk so fast.
If there’s an evolutionary advantage to that…. whatever.
I’m a runner. Happily conceived and birthed 3 babies. Still can’t keep up with my (very athletic) dh!
I’m a New Yorker by birth and by location. You will rarely find anyone who walks faster than me. I’m a full foot shorter than my gentleman and he has to hurry to keep up. I slow down for HIM!
If my husband would like to have another child with me, I just assume he’ll discuss it with me, like adults tend do about important matters.
I’m with Del on this one. Its kind of complicated – if anything a man would want his love interest walk faster and himself walk faster home to get to work ;)
Well, unless the man is a true neanderthal and displays affection publicly than Darwinism most definitely applies.
