Porn prof accosted pro-life teen because pregnancy made her goofy
Another letter of support, also on UCSB letterhead, comes from Eileen Boris, a professor in the Department of Feminist Studies.
Prof. Boris seeks clemency for her colleague, stating, “she was at the stage of a pregnancy when one is not fully one’s self fully, so the image of a severed fetus appeared threatening.”
“If she appears smiling on camera,” Prof. Boris continues, “she is ‘wearing the mask,’ that is, she is hiding her actual state through a strategy of self-presentation that is a cultural legacy of slavery.”
~ Fox News, August 15, reporting on the support University of California-Santa Barbara porn professor Mireille Miller-Young received before being sentenced after accosting pro-life 16-yr-old Thrin Short on March 4 and stealing a sign that showed a victim of abortion. At the time Miller-Young was three months pregnant.
According to noozhawk.com, Miller-Young “was sentenced Friday to three years probation, 100 hours community service and 10 hours of anger-management classes after pleading no contest to three charges of grand theft from a person, battery and vandalism.”

LOLLLLL,
Don’t you just love how feminists want to have it both ways?
Women are to be treated as equals….yet be considered helpless victims when they need to get out of trouble or it suits a political agenda.
Prof. Boris, your infantilizing of a grown woman who is nearly 40 years old is disgusting. Also, we are all the descendents of slaves so please, can we stop falling back on this slavery claptrap? The Civil War ended almost 150 years ago.
I hope you have a chance to discuss Mireille’s issues with “slavery” with the Nigerian schoolgirl who recently fled the clutches of Boko Harem and described how she endured 15 rapes a day. I’m sure she’ll be most sympathetic to Mireille’s plight.
Mireille, you made a very bad judgment call. Grow up and take your medicine like a woman.

Really? “fully one’s self fully”? A professor wrote this? I hope she wasn’t trying very hard.

Hi Simm,
“A professor wrote this”?
Yeah, scary isn’t it?
Maybe she isn’t fully herself fully.

Somewhere out there, there’s a student or former student of Boris reading this and sincerely desiring a refund on their tuition fees.

Pregnancy-induced hysteria! Only a feminist “professor” steeped in gibberish about patriarchy would dare to write that for the rest of the world to read. She really thinks we believe that stuff.
Kudos to FOX News for reporting what the rest of the news media ignore.

Hi Del,
“Pregnancy induced hysteria” sounds like something out of a 19th century “medical textbook”, written by male professors.
Women being driven to bizarre behavior by their uteri.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

@ Mary: Exactly!
Why do feminists keep trying to turn back the clock on women’s progress?
You would think that a women’s studies professor would be more clever in her comments about an associate professor’s bad behavior while perpetrating feminism.
Miller-Young teaches about the empowerment of porn, for goodness’s sake! We have to guess that her history of bad choices goes back many years. Her criminal behavior toward the pro-life teens had nothing to do with her pregnancy. She would have reacted thus in any case, and will likely do so again.
I think the judge realized this. Three years probation is the sort of justice that we give to adults who don’t understand why their behavior was wrong.

If I recall correctly there was a student also who was an accomplice to this criminal act. I’d like to know what she got, if anything. The message needs to get out that if you want to follow your “professor” into criminal activity then you will pay the price.

Hi Del,
What I find disgusting is how she infantilizes Mireille.
Makes me think of the “just run along and don’t worry your pretty little head” mentality.

If a conservative white male had the nerve to suggest that a pregnant woman could not think straight…

What gets me is it’s all BS anyway. She didn’t find the pictures “threatening”. She’s just a typical abortion supporter who doesn’t think the other side deserves any rights or protection. She didn’t think she needed any excuse beyond, “obviously these people don’t deserve to be heard”. She was smiling because she couldn’t imagine repercussions for actions as self-evidently righteous as hers.
I agree with all the comments above as well.

Why is she a “porn prof”?
I have visions of a huge lecture hall, and the prof enters, takes a dignified stance at the lectern, and announces with dignity and solemnity, “I am a Professor of Pornography.” And they’d be wearing a really big hat, like Fred Flintstone if he was the Grand Poobah of The Loyal Order of Water Buffaloes.

Yeah – though I question just how truly ‘conservative’ many of them are – they always do seem to be Republican. ;)

If the baby’s father has a clean record and is fit, he should be given custody of the baby and Prof Porn should have supervised visitation until she proves she has it together.
Equal rights and all.

Is she saying, in other words, sorry, don’t trust pregnant women to use the best judgment?

Why is she a “porn prof”?
Because pornography is listed under her area of specialization. Particularly when black women are in it.

Thanks, Navi. I never thought of that as an area of study. Well, I mean not all that much in an “academic” sense, anyway.
