Pro-life, black Republican candidate will “drive Democrats to drink”

by Carder The last thing Democrats want on the national stage is a black conservative Republican, anti-abortion, successful single mom who worked her way through college to achieve her American dream (without seeking government for answers).   They do not want another non-victim-minded black elected official out there touting traditional values, preaching that the rewards of hard work and […]

Will abortion enthusiasts continue to support Waffling Wendy?

Stand-With-Wendy-Davis-Tim-Doyle-Print-OrangeAll she’s doing with this parsing is trying to walk the line between signaling to casual Texas voters that she’s kinda sorta socially conservative while reassuring abortion warriors who follow this issue closely that her “ban” would have no teeth in practice.

But that’s not her brand; the left loves her not because she’s willing to hide behind loopholes but because she’s a loud-and-proud filibusterin’ bulwark against the pro-life patriarchy. Says Jonah Goldberg, what exactly are people who “stand with Wendy” standing for at this point? Do they even know?

Alternative Girl Scouts organization offers Respect Life patch

respect lifeThe Girl Scouts have had a disturbing, well-documented relationship with the abortion lobby for a long time.

The organization finally overplayed its hand this past December by giving its stamp of approval to two infamous pro-abortion women, Wendy Davis and Kathleen Sebelius. This drew a boycott of Girl Scout cookies, called CookieCott2014.

Yesterday the America Heritage Girls, a faith-based alternative to the Girl Scouts, announced a new Respect Life Patch, which ”reinforces the organization’s commitment to honoring life from conception to natural death.”

How to earn the patch? From the press release:

Why are some Catholic hospitals dispensing contraceptives?

Bishops pray at the Marien Dom churchNow, bear in mind, the archbishop’s staff had been informed of this nearly two years ago and has stonewalled, foot-dragged, administratively delayed, passed the buck, looked into it and just about every other imaginable bureaucratic excuse you can dream up.

And yet, at the end of the day, these drugs are still being passed out like candy at these Catholic hospitals.

“Never has so much human suffering condensed in so small a space”

Never has so much human suffering condensed in so small a space. ~ Abolitionist Thomas Clarkson, quoting abolitionist and member of Parliament William Wilberforce, in The History of the Rise, Progress and Accomplishment of the Abolition of the African Slave Trade, 1808, one year after the trade had been abolished in British empire. ACLU sues US bishops over anti-abortion policies at Catholic hospitals

2623686-thou-shalt-not-kill--part-of-the-decadent-decalogue-seriesThe other side is becoming increasingly hostile, attacking the religious freedoms of pro-life Christians with greater boldness. From The New York Times, December 2:

The American Civil Liberties Union announced on Monday that it had filed a lawsuit against the nation’s Roman Catholic bishops, arguing that their anti-abortion directives to Catholic hospitals hamper proper care of pregnant women in medical distress, leading to medical negligence.

If amniocentesis frightens baby, what does abortion do?

imageby Sarah Cleveland

Shortly after graduating from college and obtaining my board certification to become a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer nearly 10 years ago, I was asked to fill in for a tech at a nearby OB/GYN office. I was honored by the request and accepted the offer.

When I arrived to work, I noticed there was an amniocentesis scheduled that afternoon. (In short, an amnio is a quick procedure that samples the fluid surrounding a baby in utero for further testing on the pregnancy.) And although I had assisted in dozens of procedures during clinical rotations in college, I had never before assisted with a live amniocentesis. And I was nervous about doing it. I knew the risks to the baby and momma (increased risk of miscarriage and uterine infection, albeit still low).

But what I didn’t anticipate was what I was actually going to see on the screen.

Surprise! Court reinstates most of Texas’ new abortion restrictions

shutterstock_138150899-375x250In a move that took both sides of the abortion divide by surprise, the 5th District Court of Appeals yesterday reversed most of a lower court’s decision to block an impactful portion of Texas’ new anti-abortion law. From  USA Today:
