Will abortion enthusiasts continue to support Waffling Wendy?
All she’s doing with this parsing is trying to walk the line between signaling to casual Texas voters that she’s kinda sorta socially conservative while reassuring abortion warriors who follow this issue closely that her “ban” would have no teeth in practice.
But that’s not her brand; the left loves her not because she’s willing to hide behind loopholes but because she’s a loud-and-proud filibusterin’ bulwark against the pro-life patriarchy. Says Jonah Goldberg, what exactly are people who “stand with Wendy” standing for at this point? Do they even know?…
How much enthusiasm can she sustain among liberals for a candidacy that’s now purely about identity politics? Having achieved left-wing celebrity status, can she lose that status or will they feel duty-bound, if only to save face, to excuse her heresies and go down with the ship?…
Will they continue to pony up donations, telling themselves that it’s Good For Women and that she’ll revert to form once in office a la Obama and gay marriage? Or will they decide that it’s no fun cheering for a fighting liberal who’d rather hide and lose a close-ish election than fight and lose badly?
~ AllahPundit at Hot Air, February 12, on Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis’s equivocation on a 20-week abortion ban, which she infamously filibustered last summer

Yes, they will. They did with Obama when he pretended to be kind of moderate on the issue. They’re more rational and better at this than we are, regrettably.
So this is completely off subject – but I was interested to see who was even in the race in Texas – has anybody read up on Abbott, the GOPer she could run against (if she survives the primary).
Dude was running after a storm (or just on a windy day – not positive)in 1984, and a big Oak tree limb fell on him and paralyzed him. Sued the homeowner and a tree company that had inspected the tree – and when all is said and done (he gets monthly payments) he’ll get between $6 million and $9 million (depending on how long he lives).
Sad story – odd story – weird since most GOPers generally support tort reform and wouldn’t allow payments like that. Just interesting – didn’t know much about who else was in the race.
The left knows their candidates must lie to general public in order to get eleced so they expect it.
EGV,
You think that’s bad?
Around the late 80s or early 90s the moronic drunken husband of a former co worker decided to dive off his neighbor’s picnic table onto a child’s slip and slide and snapped his neck. He had no insurance, he was in between jobs, but he still got the care he needed first at our hospital then at another for rehab. Of course the injury did nothing to curb his vile sexist mouth, much to the chagrin of the nurses who nonetheless provided him with the best care. Also, the fact he had rec’d what would be free care and rehab did nothing to prevent him from suing both hospitals, don’t ask me why.
He did recover, filed a huge suit against his neighbors, the slip and slide company(which was supposed to foresee the actions of drunken morons) the hospitals, and the manufacturer of the picnic table, just for good measure. He claimed loss of consortium though his wife had a baby, he also played golf and rode a bike though he showed up in court on crutches and braces.
The idiot jury awarded him 12 million.
You were saying something about tort reform?
Obama has been better for the Culture of Life than any Republican before him. Sure…. he hate us, and has pushed every sort of legislation and persecution against us. But against the acts of his Administration, we have won the hearts of the people during his tenure.
We need to make sure that we win the hearts of Texans and Americans, whether Abbott or Abortion Barbie win the election. Like Obama, women and children may be off if we have Abortion Barbie to constantly remind us of what the Culture of Death really stands for.
Yes they will. Because she’s not Rick Perry or whoever the next facsimile is to come off the gop line.
