Weekend question
Presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama will be asked a range of questions tonight by Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church in CA at what is being called the Saddleback Showdown.
What question would you ask either or both of the candidates?
P.S.: There has been a run of people, mostly Obamamaniacs, responding to this week’s poll question – over 2,000 now – so I’m going to leave it up a couple more days. One can always hope they’ll inadvertently learn a thing or 2 about their infanticidal rock star when visiting here.
UPDATED QUESTION, 5:40a: What did you think of the Saddleback Showdown?
McCain: Why should conservative Christians vote for an adulterer who divorced his disabled wife so he could marry his wealthy, young mistress?
Obama:
Are you the messiah?
Are you the anti-Christ?
Do you think you were chosen by God to be President?

What is sin?
Are you a moral relativist?
Was God a moral relativist?
Do you follow God?
Then why are you a moral relativist?
Is God a fool?

Do you have any love children out in the world that could be used as blackmail against you?
Who did Jesus describe as having the greatest faith in all of Israel?
Do you despise the military?
What did Jesus mean when he said, “no greater love has any man than to lay down his life for his friends”. Does this apply to soldiers?
Is the intent of God’s will clearly expressed in every single conception of a human being?
Why should a Christian be pro-abortion when the intent of God’s will is clearly expressed in every single conception of a human being?

Was this nation founded on Christina principles, by Christian men?
What does the “government shall make no law concerning religion and the practice thereof
According to an Alan Wisdom, Mr. Warren won’t ask my questions:
Warren intends to focus on “the decision capacity and process of each man” and not so much on their positions on issues. He wants to avoid “the partisan ‘gotcha’ questions that typically produce heat instead of light.” He prefers to talk about “pressing issues that are bridging divides in our nation, such as poverty, HIV/AIDS, climate and human rights.”
Well then, here is my question for both Mr. McCain and Mr. Obama: What are the pressing issues? List the top three in order of importance.
I don’t care whether the issues are bridging divides or not. The issues that Mr. Warren mentions are hardly bridging divides. I think that Mr. Warren is merely capitulating to the Democrats’ agenda.
(To both)
Where do you stand on animal rights?
To McCain:
Are you the messiah?
Are you the anti-Christ?
Do you think you were chosen by God to be President?

Due to lack of brains, cut and paste here.
That was a stroke of genius Rae. Perhaps Obama could learn something from you like turning from a from a flaming Liberal into a rock solid Conservative, of course, only until after the election.
I’m sorry, Hisman, were you addressing me?
I bet neither McCain nor Obama is a vegan, Jess. Animals can’t VOTE. They have no free will. They aren’t going to attend this Q&A.
Mr. Obama: If a couple went to have an abortion because there was a slightest chance this child would have Downs, but when born, this child survived, and DID NOT have Downs, would you or would you not want to provide care for this child.
Oh, and this baby? He/She has a mix of Asian, Hispanic and African American. He/She DOES not have Downs, the doctor diagnosing the condition made a mistake.
The induced labor abortion was done at 30 weeks — past viability and can survive with good care.
Hisman,
I am more curious to see how McCain answers those questions. Since I don’t intend to vote for Obama, why would I care about his answers to anything? And why would you, unless you were considering voting for him?
Are you trying to say I lack brains?
Thanks.
Should we shut down volcanoes?
HisMan, that cracked me up.
(In reality, volcanoes don’t put out much CO2 at all compared to human activity.)
Still, though, picture some poor dude carrying a great big plug up the mountainside….
Animals can’t VOTE. They have no free will.
Liz, agreed that we don’t let them vote, but many animals do indeed have free will.
There has been a run of people, mostly Obamamaniacs, responding to this week’s poll question – over 2,000 now – so I’m going to leave it up a couple more days.
Jill, do you see this as a massive upswelling of liberal raiding? Marauding liberals are on the loose!
This was back a while, but in the Fibonacci area it was most awesome.
We have our treasured 61.8% AND a 78.6%!
So what, eh?
Well, .786 is also a Fibonacci ratio, along with .618, and .786 is the square root of .618.
Too cool.
Animals have free will? *laughs* That’s a good one……oh, wait, you were SERIOUS?!?
Quite sad that Obama isn’t aware of the fact that R vs W made way for the millions of babies that are African American being destroyed in their mother’s wombs since 1973.

Michael, Jon, Hal, etc., pursuant to the discussion on IVF, fertility drugs, etc., an Egyptian woman has given birth to septuplets.
Animals have free will?
Yes, Liz, dolphins, the great apes, elephants, etc., being good examples.
Obama,
Why are you saying you would’ve supported BAIPA in the Illinios State legislature (if it was identical to the federal version), when you lead the commitee to kill that exact version?
“P.S.: There has been a run of people, mostly Obamamaniacs, responding to this week’s poll question ”
I am one of those who gave Obama an A. His campaign has been excellent so far. He’s in the news all the time, he gets much more media coverage than McCain, he hass drawn a lot of new and swing voters, he has excellent commercials that sound very promising the average voter, and he’s very popular overseas. That was the criteria I used to grade him.
That being said, I do not intend to vote for him. As an economists, I could never vote for him (or for Billary). I don’t think he has the experience nor the knowledge to get us out of this economic hole.
However, I still think that his campaign is really good.
Ninja: I don’t think he (Obama) has the experience nor the knowledge to get us out of this economic hole.
Granted. Yet the same is true for McCain.
For example, the liabilities and debt of the US gov’t amounts to around $160,000 for every American, and it’s going up all the time. There’s no “getting out” of this via a Presidential administration in the current era.
Bee:
No I am not saying you don’t have any brains I am saying I can’t read or, can’t see.
I was having some fun with Rae, because she said she was voting for Colbert, I just misread Bee for Rae?
Peace.
Obama just called us liars on CNN. He said again that he would’ve supported the state bill if it was identical to the federal. He said Illinois already gave treatment to babies aborted alive before BAIPA. He’s calling us the liars. haha.
I saw that, too, Jasper.
Notice the CBN commentator stating that Obama got quite agitated with that question. The Good senator was visibly frustrated with “these people” who continue to push the issue when once and for all he voted against it because blah, blah, blah.
Jill, you’re getting under his skin.
What business does a Labor and Delivery nurse have disrupting a democrat for president, hmmm?
Doug:
I think it’s only $30,000 of debt per every American and we owe most of the money to ourselves.
And the average interest rate being paid on this money is about 5 or 6 percent, a bargain.
Much ado about nothing and only an issue for the economic aptitude deprived.
Would it be better to have no debt, of course, however, high taxation kills the economic engine in that it becomes too big a factor in the equation of return on investment v. risk cycle. It’s basic.
Besides taxation is a form of theft espceailly when it is taken form the haves and give to the have nots. Do this long enough and everyone suffers. Suck the life out of farmland long enough and eventaully it becomes dead soil.
The current cycle we’re in has nothing to do with the adminstration. In fact, to mess with it makes it worse.
Taxes are negative input to any economic cycle and tend to prolong the wavelength and negative amplitude. Why, because taxes do not result in the production of goods. They are parasitic. You should study Milton Friedman’s work.
Obama is a leftist who will make things worse, prolong the agony of a natural economic cycle and those that buy into it are usually those who don’t understand the above and are in the financial situation they are in as evidence of that.
People go back to the Clinton years as evidence of leftist economic policy success, however, they fail to ralize that the success we realized was a direct result of Ronald Reagan’s tax reduction policies who saved us from the lunatic carter) and a conservative Congress which reigned Clinton in. The view should be that it was a miracle that we were as successful as we were even with an idiot like Clinton in power.
Want to blame Bush? Go ahead. However, we have been at war that has saved our country and he has been opposed by a majority Concress on just about every economic reform he has attempted. SS comes to mind immediatley.
I see Rush having an absolute field day on Monday with this forum. Absolute.
“Notice the CBN commentator stating that Obama got quite agitated with that question. The Good senator was visibly frustrated with “these people” who continue to push the issue when once and for all he voted against it because blah, blah, blah.”
yes Carder, I saw that too. And Jill laid out a couple threads back how he opposed the bill which identical to the federal one. He is the one that is lying.
https://www.jillstanek.com/archives/2008/08/obama_campaign.html#trackbacks
as Doug Johnson from (nrtl) pointed out:
in 2000, even BEFORE the “neutrality clause” was added to the federal bill, it passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 380-15. In other words, nearly all of the “pro-choice” members of the U.S. House rejected the notion (embraced by Obama) that the original bill — even without a “neutrality” clause — somehow conflicted with Roe v. Wade.
Which just comes to show that Jill and the rest need to keep pressing the issue because it is a major Achilles’ heel for our Presumptious One.
To be fair, though, it was refreshing to see Obama relaxed as one could be under the circumstances and have a haggle-free hour with Pastor Warren.
McCainers, take note.
Obama is a faux Chrisitan. That was clear tonight.
The left thought they could decieve us Christians by putting this wolf out there as a sheep.
God is not mocked, abortion is murder and God will judge all for the shedding of innocent blood.
Jill:
You must contact Rick Warren and make sure he understnad what Obama did visa vi the BAIPA. If he doesn’t listen, better yet, make sure you cotact Dr. Dobson. This BAIPA is becoming the defining issue of the campaign and Obama must be made held to account for his lying treachery. It must be presented clearly and in the simplest way possible and visually giving the slime bag no oppotunity to back down from who he really is.
I mean, even Obama can’t face himself. Why he’s even being considered is beyond understanding.
Be courageoue for the gates of hell will be coming at you in all their fury as I am sure that you are now in the midst of the fire. I can’t even begin to imagine what you’re going through. Remember this, He has overcome the world. If there is ANYTHING I can do please let me know.
I love this line….
This is something that he can
Amen, Brother!
Isn’t it wonderful, PeachPit, that you can expres yourself as such and not get shot in the burqua for it?
Let me rephrase, that, Hisman. I could do without the slimebag reference, but on the rest of the post I could relate.
Jill,
when you go Hannitys America, I would make sure Hannity and his producers are clear before hand about the issue and Obama’s stance, and how he is the one not telling the truth. Maybe lay it out for them in a Powerpoint presentation with big fonts. Doug Johnson raised some points as well as you pointed out….
Carder,
If Obama were smart, he would admit he made a big mistake on the vote and he was wrong, his pride won’t let him do that though.
There’s so much proof in this pudding, Jasper.
But to think, he’s inserted in the Democratic platform attempts to reduce the need for abortion. Encouragement to mothers to keep their babies so that they won’t have to make the abortion choice.
My question woud be, however, is suppose that even with all the assistance promised by our government, what about the woman who has decided
that money or no, she simply doesn’t want to be pregnant anymore (two ladies come to mind immediately).
What then?
Til tomorrow…
PeachPit:
Tell me this Peach Pit. Would you give your life for anything or anyone? Would you subject yourself to possibly being killed for the greater good? I know, how could you when you’re willing to kill an innocent baby so that your life won’t be inconvenienced and who think this life is all there is. I can understand any lieberals cowardly fear of any war.
I think it no mistake that you call yourself PeachPit. Do you know what peach pits contain? You guessed it….aresenic….one of the most deadly poisons on the face of the planet. But like a peach pit, it’s a hidden and subtle poison, only know until it is searched out, identified and exposed. And you are full of such poison Peach Pit, the subtle poison of cowardice, narcissism, immorality and murderous liberal philosophy.
The Iraq war issue is Liberal tripe. No innocent Iraqi was ever targeted for murder by the US Government. In fact, to make the statement or imply that we do, is an insult to our military and to each and every one of the 4,000 plus soldiers that gave their lives in that war so far. Contrast how the Liberal establsihment portion of our government, i.e. Democrats, have institutionalized genocide by legalized abortion that has targeted and resulted in the murder of 50,000,000 babies and in just this country.
Perhaps you have never see the visual contrasting the number of worldwide murders by abortion deaths and victims of wars? It’s like the side of a barn compared to a sheet of paper. And in war, it’s combatants who usually suffer the most casualties and not innocent civilians, so the contrast is even more dramatic.
The murder of innocenet Iraqis fall on the head of one person, and that is Saddam Hussein and we all know where he is right now. Or perhaps you were in favor of his abortion policy….murder anyone and everyone who disagrees with you and challenges your leadership? I suppose that you think his demise was not the result of divine judgement? I suppose that you would rather Saddam Hussein still be in power just killing, murdering, and tortuing his citizens as he pleased, as long as you could have your precious right to murder babies in place forever?
And where does the responsibilty of the murder of 50,000,000 TRULY INNOCENT babies fall? On the heads of every unrepentant person who committed, voted for, supported, and advocates legalzied abortion, like you, like Hal, Like Sally, like SoMG, like …. and millions of others like you.
When do you believe an unborn baby is protected by the Constitution?
Do you support the protection of babies born alive after a failed abortion?
Do you support the Freedom of Choice Act and why or why not?
Would you appoint Supreme Court Justices who would be strict Constitutionalist?
Do you believe international law should be used in interpretation of our Constitution?
“My question woud be, however, is suppose that even with all the assistance promised by our government, what about the woman who has decided
that money or no, she simply doesn’t want to be pregnant anymore (two ladies come to mind immediately).”
oh, good question Carder.
HisMan, please don’t make assumptions. You are assuming I’m for abortion. I’m not. I just think those that are for war, pro war, are not pro life. Thousands of kids displaced and killed because of a war that was not necessary.
Yes, I would die for my country, if my country was attacked. Iraq was not going to kill 4,000 americans in the last 6 years.
Yeah, I would be wearing a burqua if the Iraq war was not happening, that makes sense…
McCain is very straight forward in his answers at the forum.Human life should be granted rights at conception and we need to DEFEAT evil. Barck wouildn’t know what conviction is if it hit him in the face.
Did you see Barack trying to act all proud that he “supposedly” voted somewhere, sometime to restrict late-term abortion…. he is so full of crap.
O.K. The question asked of him was. “Have you ever voted to restrict ir limit abortiions.” He didn’t answer. Unstead he said, “I am in favor of limiting certain late term abortions if their is a health exception for the mother.” In other words, he never has vited to limit abortion. The anser was NO. But he is a masterful spinster and he twisted it to being in “favor” of certaing restrictions even though he has NEVER actually voted in favor of any restrictions. What a panderind, deceitful, spin doctor he is.

Anon – FYI. No identity, no post on this blog.
TS,
Yes I agree, he spins away from answering tough questions.
McCain I thought did very well. I think HisMan is right, Mike Huckabee could be his running mate. It would be a good choice.
Mike Huckabee, as I have been saying for months and months now, after I predicted McCain would be the nominee, will be McCain’s choice for VP. It will absolutely sew up the Presidency for McCain as Huckabee will present an insurmountable contrast to Obama’s extreme leftist stance on abortion and provide a backround in which the contrast can be made clear. Make no mistake of McCain’s mention of Huckabee tonight.
God’s use of Jill Stanek in this is no coincidence. You see, God uses faithful people for His purposes and God’s answer to a problem is always a person. He used Gideon, he used Moses, he used David, He used Daniel, he used Esther. Perfect people? No, faithful people, yes. And Jill has demonstrated her faithfulness becasue she know’s the truth that abortion is murder and was willling to put herself and her life on the line simply because it was the right thing to do.
If McCain is elected, Jill should be appointed as an “Ambassador for Life” in his administration. In fact I call on McCain to establsih a new cabinet level position that would seek ways to preserve life, especially the lives of the unborn. (I’d like to see the Democrats battle that one).
I see God at work here in presenting a crystal clear choice and we need to stand with God. This is a test for the church; to accept the lies of the evil one and be willing to be led astray by a demonic “angel of light” in Obama or to embrace the truth and end legalized abortion in this country starting with the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the establishment of a Life Amendment in the Consitution, and the national definiton of marriage as being between a man and a woman. We will no longer let the ACLU, NARAL, Planned Parenthood, etc. death mongers run this country and redefine who we are and our country’s God-given purpose on this earth…to glorify Jesus Christ.
We pro-lifers must be on own knees in prayer and supplication that God allow Huckabee to be elected if this His will. Pray that God does not abandon us to the likes of Obama, whose election could only be a sign of God’s impending judgement on our country.
It is time for God’s people to pray and seek HIs face, humble ourselves in repentance and turn from our wicked ways of allowing abortion to be legalized and then standing by and letting it happen for 35 years. Enough is enough is enough.
I call on the Protestant Church especially to repent as they have, as a majority, been derelict in fighting abortion. I beg them to follow the example of their Catholic brothers and sisters who God has used as salt and light in the battle against the most horrific evil of our time.
Church, it is time to stand with Jesus Christ, the Author of Life, the Alapha and Omega.
To say you are a follower of Christ and to be for anything that could result in the death of an innocent, innocent, hear me, INNOCENT unborn child, or as in the case of Obama, even a born child once marked for death, means you are either ignorant of the truth and are perishing or, you are intentionally and willfully rebelling against God and promoting satan’s desire to terminate God ans us all.
This is no different than the battle in heaven where satan was able to deceive a third of the angels of heaven who I would bet my life were all thinking they were doing the right thing. Who do you say that He is? Your vote will reflect your answer to that question.
Be deceived no longer, abortion is murder, and to commit it, support it, and/or promote it in any way, apart from repentance, is damnable.
Know this my Christina brothers and sisters:
Abortion is an affront to the creative nature of God, it negates God as Creator,
Abortion denies the power of God to right a wrong, it negates God as Redeemer,
Abortion makes that which is good, the birth of human life, into that which is evil, the death of human life, and then calls it good, the very definition of blasphemy,
Abortion negates the resurrection power of God as it takes flesh that is alive in it’s earthly abode (the womb) and kills it, while God takes that flesh which is dead in it’s earthly abode (the grave) and desires to make it alive,
Abortion’s desire is to take that which was composed from the chaotic array of elemental molecules into a symphony of life infused with an eternal soul, and turn it back to the entropy of randomness, chaos, nothingness, uselessness.
Abortion is against all that is hopeful, all that requires faith for success; for it’s solution; annihilation, it’s goal; death, it’s dream; breaking God’s heart, it’s vision, Satan’s ultimate power.
Abortion is a counterfeit, for the clawprints of Satan are everywhere to be found in its performance;
Abortion disguises hate as love, bondage as freedom, choice as maturity, sin as righteousness, political correctness as wisdom,
Abortion pits men against women, mothers against their children, fathers against God, Yes, abortion is Satan’s feeble attempt at killing God Himself, for abortion is a metaphor for Satan; it is his coat of arms, his family crest, his logo, his brand, it belongs to him……for he laughs at its willing proponents as they craft their own self-destruction, mantled in self-deception.

For both:
George W. Bush; Great President or Greatest President?
Aaron:
Honest Abe was demonized and asassinated during his presidency.
Opinion polls taken during a presidency are irrelevant to judging what a president ultaimate place in history will be because they lack hindsight and the abilty to see the results of decisions made or affects of the legacy.
The solution for any president to leave a good legacy is simply to run an adminstration on godly principles.
This is why history will judge GWB as a great president and Clinton as merely a forgotten asterisk, a promoter of oral sex.
Great v. Greatest cannot yet be answered because our country still exists unless you mean Great v Greatest up to this point.
Tomight, Obama pointed the finger at his country by saying we don’t take care of the “least of these” as our gratest moral failures. I guess this inlcudes the tortured citizens of Iraq as well.
If an innocent baby in the womb is not included in the “least of these” is a baby who survived an abortion one of the “least of these”.
How then can a guy, who as a state senator, voted against the Illinois Born Alive Infant Protection act which protects babies targeted for abortion from being left to die if they survive the abortion even bring this up? Or was he finally admitting that his vote was wrong?. This guy quoted the book of Matthew with a straight face and without blinking an eye. What did we see, a suburb liar, a megalomaniac narcissist, and one who indeed still has not learned that “it’s not about him”.
I am convinced even more now that he is absoluteley evil.
Carder, Jasper: Rats, I missed that question from the CBN reporter to Obama. I’ll try to get ahold of the tape.
Although I care very little for either Barack Hussein Obama or John Sidney McCain as candidates, the overwhelming “victor” in this forum was McCain. Obama seemed to evade or stumble as he ran from several of the questions – he beat around the bush, McCain jumped on the question and answered them straightforwardly and more succinctly.
McCain showed his ability to think on his feet, he demonstrated more maturity, wisdom and experience in his answers, than did Obama.
On the issues most important to me: abortion, protection of traditional marriage, national security including domestic energy development, and the selection and nomination of judges, McCain was right, while Obama was hopelessly wrong.
Clearly voters have a choice. I just hope that voters see through the smokescreen that Obama throws up to hide his true beliefs especially about marriage and see what Obama really stands for advancing a Marxist anti-American agenda.
I’m still not sure Obama would be as president, but we need some one like him desperately, who will be a bulwark against
obscurantism , and the potential tyranny of the religious right, which is a mortal threat to
freedom and prosperity in this country.
If religion gets power in this country,
many women will die of botched, illegal abortions, or from self-induced ones, or be left
permanently disabled, while well-to-do ones will easily fly off to Europe for safe, legal ones, contraception will become illegal and the aborion rates will RISE markedly, and a black market in contraceptives will emerge.
Those unwanted children who ARE born will not get the help they need so that they will not grow up malnourished, and we will have more children with lowered intelligence, leading to more poverty, unemployemnt and crime.
The poor and the unemployed will be told to eat cake. The government will pry into our bedrooms; homosexuals will lose rights and even be persecuted. Stdents will be forced to pray even if they are atheists.
Non-christians will be second class citizens. Creationism and other religious superstitions will be taught as scientific fact. Vital medical and scientific research and experiments will be thwarted.
The government will censor and ban any film or television program which it desapproves of, and the same with books, magazines and newspapers. Financial aid to college students will be much more difficult to get or impossible.
Our rights will be trampled on by tyrannical right-wing fanatical presidents.
They will be sworn in by swearing on the constitution to uphold the bible, not by swearing on the bible to uphold the constitution.
This is exactly what the founding fathers in their wisdom were desperate to avoid in America, and this country will be the very thing that so many people have come here to escape; a theocracy. Mark my words.
Robert Berger-
it may get worse if McCain wins, but I don’t think it would be that bad…he seems to be moderately right wing on several issues.
Yes, Berger, and in the meantime Obama will humbly approach our sworn enemies and kindly ask them to lay off his country.
HisMan, you suggested asking Obama: “Why did Christ die on the cross?”
Read this:
http://www.godandscience.org/apologetics/deathjesus.pdf
And why no place for questions for McCain? Here’s one:
Since you flip-flopped on torturing prisoners, why should anyone believe anything you say about anything?
robert berger, you have NO clue what you’re talking about.
I don’t work because I don’t want my tax dollars going to Planned Parenthood’s sex ed. I don’t want to be forced to pay for destruction of HUMAN EMBRYOS for unproven research. I don’t want to be forced to pay for abortions.
I want the disabled to be treated with dignity and given food and water (which are not life support, but basic necessities). I want the unborn babies in their mother’s wombs to be treated as deserving of human rights (especially the most basic of rights: LIFE!), and not tossed away like a used Kleenex.
I don’t want children as young as five to be getting books like “Prince and Prince” and being told that homosexuality is normal. Five year old children should be learning to read and write and having fun, not being given propaganda that promotes homosexuality.
Robert:
“I’m still not sure Obama would be as president, but we need some one like him desperately, who will be a bulwark against
obscurantism , and the potential tyranny of the religious right, which is a mortal threat to
freedom and prosperity in this country.
Those unwanted children who ARE born will not get the help they need so that they will not grow up malnourished, and we will have more children with lowered intelligence, leading to more poverty, unemployemnt and crime”
Posted by: Robert Berger at August 17, 2008 8:54 AM
Yeah, Robert, right on, you go girl, all those religious zealot Christian, pro-abort, pro-gay, pro-gay marriage, pro-infanticide, pro-terrorist, peace at-any-cost Founding Fathers, who wrote the Constitution that resulted in the greatest, most prosperous country ever in human history, we really need to be protected from them and their ideals, at any cost. Even if means we elect a lying, murdering, infanticidal, dishonest inexperienced guy like Barack Obama. Freedom at any cost……semper fi.
And you’re right, we should murder all “Those unwanted children who ARE born will not get the help they need so that they will not grow up malnourished, and we will have more children with lowered intelligence, leading to more poverty, unemployemnt and crime”. I guess you’re referring to all those black kids who you don’t want to be born and the other white trash, as well? Who better to hide Liberal racism against blacks than a black president?
Your post gives me great, great joy and great, great sadness at the same time.
Great joy, because the left realizes it has chosen the wrong man to represent them for President and is now in a state of irrational fear, like a rabid dog.
Great sadness, because your post truly represents the Liberal view of reality and their willingness to elect just about anybody to preserve that view.
It doesn’t surprise me that Liberals can even sink to allow not only killing unborn babies but even those born with an “abortion target” on their foreheads and to justify and shroud that evil using semantic twisting like “pro-choice” and “reproductive rights” because of the false notion that conservatives want to establish a “theocracy” in this country.
Let me ask you this Mr. Barger. Do most Islamic terrorists subscribe to “theocratic government”, where women and gays are abused and murdered and wherein most of the fears you expressed are actually true? Is Mr. Bush a conservative? Which party has pressed on in the fight against these terrorists? And which Party wants to retreat in defeat? What did Barack Obama want to do in the fight on terror? Right, retreat. So, the one you should really be afraid of Mr. Barger is an unprincipled coward liar like Mr. Obama, who would rather negotiate with and retreat from terrorist?
I’ve been posting on this site for about two years now. Of every single post I have ever read by a liberal pro-abort, yours takes the cake for being the vilest, the most ludicrous, the saddest, but also, the most honest post on Liberalism I have ever read here.
Jill, this post needs to be memorialized and highlighted. Also, I suggest you bring it up on Hannity and Colmes show because literally, the heart of Liberalism has finally been exposed in all its vulgarity and stupidity. I even think that Barack Obama, as he dissed his own Pastor Wright, who outed and revealed the heart of Liberal thinking, would be willing to crucify one Mr. Robert Barger for this post, while, at the same time, agree with every single thing he wrote.
Oh iniquity, who can understand?
Thank you Mr. Barger, thank you, thank you, thank you.
“If religion gets power in this country,
many women will die of botched, illegal abortions, or from self-induced ones, or be left
permanently disabled, while well-to-do ones will easily fly off to Europe for safe, legal ones, contraception will become illegal and the aborion rates will RISE markedly, and a black market in contraceptives will emerge. ”
Yawn. This never happened and isn’t going to happen. The rates of illegal abortions and deaths resulting from them were grossly exaggerated by NARAL’S founding fathers. They admitted it. Bernard Nathanson wrote extensively about how they deluded the American people into supporting abortion. http://www.aboutabortions.com/Confess.html (note, this paper was published elsewhere, but this was the first place it popped up on google so I’m linking to this site)
Secondly, with the abortion drug widly availible for other uses, if abortion becomes illegal in this country we will simply see an increased number of medical abortion. Not that I’m happy about that scenerio, but it will hardly be the women dying in the street with coat hangers in their bodies picture that is often painted by pro-choicers. It never was that, and it will never be that.
Lauren, the reason it never happened is that the laws against abortion were not effectively enforced.
You are making a pretty lame argument: let’s pass a law because it won’t be enforced.
HisMan, you suggested asking Obama: “Why did Christ die on the cross?”
Read this:
Moderators –
My posts have been getting chopped in half for some reason. Can you please delete this and the previous one? Thanks
SoMG, my reason for wanting abortion illegal is certainly NOT because it won’t be inforced. However, I am realistic in knowing that with the availibility of abortificient pills, it will still exist on some level.
However, as was shown by the legalization of abortion, abortions are performed at a far lower level when abortion is illegal. Basically what will happen is that most people will be discouraged by the illeaglity of abortion. Those who are not will buy the pills on the black market. However, both of these numbers combined should be lower than the currant rate of abortion minded women because it will no longer be a socially acceptable option.
lauren,
SoMG won’t agree, but I do.
SoMG:
Your God is science because at some point in your life you were found to be good at it and it fed a deep need for approval in your psyche. You remember, those 2nd grade awards for highest science average, etc. Been there, done that. And now, as you get older, it’s just not doing it anymore as the emptiness inside grows. So you’ve been filling the void with a cause, which you think is noble, the termination of innocent babies in the womb, on the false assumption that it protects woman and it is the right thing to do. The problem is your participating in an attempt at breaking God’s heart and the risk is, if you continue, He just might give up on you. I hope not.
So, in a debate of God v. Science, I’ll bet my life and my eternal destiny on God.
Why? If you’re right, we’ve both vanished into oblivion, nothingness, poof. No harm, no foul.
If I’m right, you’re in hell and I’m in Heaven….forever. No possibilty of parole for ya.
Besides, God’s Word will never pass away and science changes by the nano-second and, there’s no better way to live life than to live it with Christ in one’s heart.
Stop grasping at straws, will you?
HisMan – no, it’s really about $160,000 per person – that’s at 304,000,000+ Americans.
On the “owing most of the money to ourselves” – I don’t know if that’s true or not. Foreign nations and other entities hold huge quantities of US Gov’t debt. Additionally, a default, either outright or via the debasement of the currency (very much the most likely thing) really hurts you and me if we are holders of that debt.
The current cycle we’re in has nothing to do with the adminstration. In fact, to mess with it makes it worse.
I didn’t blame Bush, but he’s certainly made things much worse in the overall cycle of increasing debt.
My point about McCain is that he’s no better than Obama as far as getting us “out of the hole.”
Lauren, you wrote: “However, as was shown by the legalization of abortion, abortions are performed at a far lower level when abortion is illegal. ”
That depends on what you mean by “a far lower level”. If you mean done by abortionists with a far lower level of training, you’re probably right. If you mean fewer abortions were done, you’re probably wrong. We still have no idea how many illegal abortions were done before Roe/Wade. Your claim that most illegal abortions were safe means that they were also invisible.
One of the many unfortunate side effects of criminalizing abortion is it makes it impossible to measure how many are being done. The only way is to count the hospitalizations for complications, and then GUESS what proportion of abortions they represent.
HisMan, I’m sure your imaginary friend is very big and powerful.
Doug:
Where’s the use of standard accounting principles, i.e, the use of a balance sheet?
You have not included assests in your calculations that offset much of the debt, like the value of Federal lands held, real estate owned, military equipment, intellectual property, etc., etc.
Think my firend, think. You might then become a conservative.
Also, Lauren, you wrote: “SoMG, my reason for wanting abortion illegal is certainly NOT because it won’t be inforced [sic]. ”
If abortion is banned, and the ban IS effectively enforced, then all the problems Robert Berger predicts and which you “yawn” at will come true. (“… many women will die of botched, illegal abortions, or from self-induced ones, or be left
permanently disabled, ….”)
You can’t have it both ways. Either banning abortion will not be dangerous OR the ban will be effectively enforced. Not both.
HisMan, McCain will not be able to do anything about the national debt because he will not be able to get the Congress to cooperate with him. He is unlikely even to try. He will do what he always does–make the situation into an occasion for picking a fight.
And we don’t owe the money “to ourselves”. We owe it to foreigners who will not have our interests at heart when they decide questions like how much to charge for the privilege of keeping it a little longer when it comes due.
Where’s the use of standard accounting principles, i.e, the use of a balance sheet?
You have not included assests in your calculations that offset much of the debt, like the value of Federal lands held, real estate owned, military equipment, intellectual property, etc., etc.
HisMan, “Much of the debt”? (And anyway, what is the gov’t going to do – start selling its holdings?)
Either way, no debt the size of the US Gov’t is ever paid off – it’s always defaulted upon or hyperinflated out of existence – both very painful even for the “ourselves” as in “we owe it to ourselves.”
I’m not saying the sky is falling, but we are in a time of decreasing standards of living for most Americans, and eventually there will be big political fallout, IMO.
Obama can’t fix things, but neither can McCain, and to see some of the ads for both candidates is painful.
SoMG, you yourself have argued that making abortion illegal will result in more medical abortions being peformed.
If all tradional abortionists are shut down, we can vastly cut down on the number of abortions performed. Some women will get abortion pills off of the black market, but this is hardly as danerous as the fictional butchershop abortion.
I would be thrilled if abortion was completely irradicated, but I would certainly be happy with a great reduction of abortion and te arrest of providers
Oh and no need to point out anny spelling or gramatical errors so you can can congratulate yourself on your superior gramerical abilities, I’m nursing my daughter and typing with one hand while not looking at the screen, so I’m sure this post is littered with inaccuracies.
I think MK is letting her inner Liberal run wild, and she’s going around to all the computer stores and libraries and getting on every computer she can and then she votes for Obama.
we don’t owe the money “to ourselves”.
SoMG, to some extent we do, inasmuch as some of us hold US Gov’t debt securities – notes, bills, bonds, etc.
I’ll try to find out what the percentages are.
Not that owing it to “ourselves” is good, given the gov’t fiscal policies – the “ourselves” includes Mr & Mrs. Americans, pension funds, etc.
Doug-
May have something to do with the fact that W cut taxes during wartime.
PIP, not a big deal at all, IMO. That is, in the grand scheme of things, the “tax cut” if that was really what it was, and the “economic stimulus package” are small potatoes.
We’re talking billions and tens of billions when the debt and unfunded liability is in the tens of trillions of Dollars.
Again, not saying the world ends tomorrow, and there will still be ups as well as downs, but for the time being – I’m saying 10 to 15 years – the overall economic environment for the US is looking relatively grim.
I am not a left-winger. I don’t believe in Marxism or communism any more than conservatives. I’m all for capitalism and the free market. I’ve never had any illusions about the late Soviet Union being a “worker’s paradise”. It was a horrible place to live, and a brutally repressive totalitarian dictatorship which trampled on human rights and slaughtered millions of innocent people. The communist economic policies were both a joke and a disaster. The government was hopelessly corrupt and incompetent. They had the world’s highest abortion rate because of lack of good housing in which most people just couldn’t have many children.
But I also believe in a US government which does not try to force women to bear children against their will, which can never lead to anything but disaster.
And if abortion does become illegal here, we will not lower the abortion rates unless we do much, much more to help the poor so they can provide for children. And we must see to it that poor children are well-educated here. Too many are hampered by woefully inadequate schools.
That is the best way to prevent poverty.
Republican politicians don’t want to do any of these things, so they are a bunch of hypocrites. The world’s lowest abortion rates are in western europe and scandinavia,
because the government sees to it that people are well taken care of. This isn’t socialism, it’s good government.
Robert, most pro-lifers want to give women the resources to continue their pregnancies.
Doug true. But I say it is still largely due to an war-and an underfunded one at that.
Well, PIP, the war is mighty expensive, yes. I’d be just as pessimistic without it, though, feeling that if we’re a “100” for debt right now, what would be the big deal if we were only a “98”?

Has anyone ever connected the dots that perhaps we’re at war in Iraq because of God’s displeasure with legal abortion? That our country is in a mess because we have simply lost our way?
Why do you always count Him out in your delusional reasonings about if we do this, this will happen, if we do that, that will happen?
Robert: If you’re not a left-winger, then I’m changing parties.
How about some obedience to His commands? Ever heard of God’s blessing?
“Seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven and its righteousness and all these things will be added unto you”.
And SoMG: There you go again. Look, Jesus Christ lived, died and was resurrected. His appearance after His death was witnessed by over 500 people. There’s nothing imaginary about it. The only fantasizing going on here is your contant denial of the truth and unwillingness to accept it and that at your own peril. The very sad thing is that some on this site will believe your folly and will follow you to eternal damnation. Hey, go take a puff of the science drug you’re addicted to. You might get a few minutes of relief from it.
“Has anyone ever connected the dots that perhaps we’re at war in Iraq because of God’s displeasure with legal abortion? That our country is in a mess because we have simply lost our way?”
No, because I don’t believe God is a puppet master pulling the strings. He lets things happen he doesn’t make things happen. The war was our own doing by causal self-interest and dangerous political games.
God is not going to magically cure the middle east of all its ills if we make abortion illegal. That’s absurd.
I think the Democrats need to stop pandering to right wing fringe groups and say, “Yes, I believe women should have the right to have an abortion and I’m proud of my decision. Most of the people in this country support that opinion as do I, and we’re not going to keep compromising with people who have proven time and again that they don’t actually care about our children once they’re actually born!”
And while it would shock the heck out of a lot of those fringe groups who feel like people actually care about their opinion (hint: they don’t) it’ll get a strong message out that the Democrats are not weak anymore. So what if the Republicans have held office for a long time? They’ve proven that their policies can do no more than drive us into the ground economically, as was proven leading up to the Great Depression and as is the case now.
Conservative groups parallel communism a lot closer than liberalism does, simply because conservatives want to control what everyone does with their life down to the smallest detail. They want a homogeneous brand of little soldiers all marching to the beat of the same drum. Liberals, on the other hand, have been slandered by these massive, corporation-bought fringe groups, even when those liberals have defended the rights of those groups (such as the ACLU).
Also – I’d like to see someone with guts actually bring back separation of church and state and stop playing these stupid religious forums.
Has anyone ever connected the dots that perhaps we’re at war in Iraq because of God’s displeasure with legal abortion?
LMAO
HisMan, you rock.
What bothers you about those “stupid religious forums”?
“they don’t actually care about our children once they’re actually born!”
This lie gets repeated time and again and it’s really starting to bother me. Perhaps politicians don’t care about children, but that happens across the board. Politcians don’t care about anyone.
However those in the pro-life community most certainly *do* care about children. We are the first ones to support adoption and giving to the worlds most helpless. We give women the resources to raise their children.
Also, it is hardly the ‘fringe’ of Americans who oppose abortion. Informed Amercians do not support abortion laws as they now stand.
People driving too slow in the fast lane is the real evil in America, anyway.
Actually, we’re at war in Iraq because of the Religious Right. Who elected Bush? Following Pat Robertson, I point the Finger of Blame at Organized Christianity and I say: “YOU helped this happen!”
“Has anyone ever connected the dots that perhaps we’re at war in Iraq because of God’s displeasure with legal abortion? That our country is in a mess because we have simply lost our way?”
HisMan, i thought you liked this war, I thought it “saved our nation.” Why would God’s displeasure about abortion get us into a war that saves us?
[Has anyone ever connected the dots that perhaps we’re at war in Iraq because of God’s displeasure with legal abortion?]
That wasn’t it. God’s been really bummed out ever since we started using plastic toothpaste tubes.
HisMan, I’m sure your imaginary friend is very big and powerful.

If you only knew.
MK, if you’re soon to be back, and soon to read this; welcome back!
Doug
We’ll see where this settles out, but it’s pretty much a mirror-image of McCain’s figures from a week ago, McCain getting mostly D’s and F’s. Okay, maybe a reversed mirror-image.
As stated before, I think there are lots of people who will just give an “A” to their preferred candidate or an “F” to the opponent, vie knee-jerk reaction.
Not that every such vote is that, and the reasoned posting by Ninja is a good example – Obama was given an “A” but Ninja said he could never vote for Obama.
Overall, though, I say for a better view, discard the A’s and F’s, and look at what percentage of the B’s, C’s and D’s each candidate gets.
“we’re not going to keep compromising with people who have proven time and again that they don’t actually care about our children once they’re actually born”
your side has never compromised. Last time I checked born children are not being murdered legally in this country (until recently, abortion survivors were). And to say we don’t care is an outright lie.
All the dimwits who defend Mr. Bin Laden, the U.N., and their ilk should return to Europe. Such loyalists will only destroy the United States. The decision to go ahead with the Iraq War was not an easy one, but having made what was probably a wrong decision–thanks, in part to Mr. Clinton’s lack of intelligence–Mr. Bush has been a resolute leader to finish what was begun. He has been a reckless spender and a believer in bureaucracy, but I admire him for his dogged determination to see the war through to its end.
Mr. Bush will also have a prolife legacy. As an example, he spent an enormous amount of time and energy to come up with a policy on embryonic stem cell research. That’s because he cared. He is something of a statesman.
“Has anyone ever connected the dots that perhaps we’re at war in Iraq because of God’s displeasure with legal abortion?
Of course, aborshunists couldn’t let the gays take all the credit like they did with 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina.
What did you think of the Saddleback Showdown?
I think Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal did a good job.
……
The poll about Obama has been acting funny. The colors started out as they are now – with F being orange and B being yellow, but they they changed to F being blue and B being orange, and now it’s back again to orange F and yellow B.
Jill, if you have control over this, I think it’s much better to have F be blue – and not have both orange and yellow because on the map it looks like yellow and slightly darker yellow, not oranage – hard to tell them apart.
Has anyone ever connected the dots that perhaps we’re at war in Iraq because of God’s displeasure with legal abortion?

Myself, I think the fault lies with those who hang the toilet paper roll so the loose end comes down the back, rather than over the front. Man, that bugs me.
Oh Doug, that is the WORST!
Ha! Bobby, in my opinion the one person that had a good excuse for it was a woman with a cat. If the end came over the front, the cat would play with the roll, clawing it so the whole thing spooled right down into a pile on the floor.
The the cat would walk away.
Hey Doug,
Thanks…btw, I’m one of those freaks that hangs the TP wrong…you’re way drives ME nuts! LOL…
Man I LOVE the ocean.
mk,
I LOVE the ocean too. I’m soooo jealous! Welcome back! We missed you!
I don’t like toilet paper the “overhand” way. I prefer it the “underhand” way. And what does this have to do with Obama?

Despite Jill’s ravings, not everything has something to do with Obama. HisMan said America’s tolerance of legal abortion has caused God to tell Geroge Bush to invade Iraq. (and forge documents to make it look like a good idea) (have I got that right?) Doug thought God might be more motivated by the fact we’re hanging our toilet paper wrong.
MK, welcome back.
Why in the world do you like the loose end of the toilet paper roll hanging down the back side of it?
Who would have thought we’d see the day when Doug and I gang up on MK? Yet here we are…
“I’m one of those freaks that hangs the TP wrong…you’re way drives ME nuts!”
What the heck, MK?
Who would have thought we’d see the day when Doug and I gang up on MK?
Bobby, even the “thought” of that makes me sad. I know you were being totally humorous, but isn’t it funny how you can get to love people online?
(((((MK)))))
At least with toilet paper you don’t have to worry that God’s gonna call you home.
I hear ya, bro ;)
Sooner or later God’s gonna cut you down.

What bothers you about those “stupid religious forums”?
They’re a waste of time. It’s nothing more than a religious “I’m more Christian than you” catfight. It’s stupid, it does nothing to address the problems our nation is facing, and it gets people all up in arms about something that’s of such little consequence.
Besides, a whole lot of good the last religious guy did… when his sky fairy whispered in his ear we sunk into a recession and got a whole lot of good men killed.
Hmmm, perhaps Jesus didn’t turn things around, and the Old Testament God is here to stay?
That was me by the way…
It is laugh out loud hilarious to hear people on this board decry obama as a faux-christian given some of the awful things that they say about him, without having met him, without having spoken to him, without having read extensively about him..
I am not in a positioon to judge his soul and neither are any of the rest of you. Yet you persist in calling him “not christian ” ” a Muslim” – which we all know means “too black”.
Where amongst the Christians on this board can one find christian charity. Have you not been forgiven for the worst of your sins? Shouldn’t you also expect that Obama has been as well.
Call me sanctimonious all you want, but I doubt you would say to his face the same things you say on this board. You appeal to God’s better angels for forgiveness yet you show your own the door when you post here.
Neither McCain nor Obama are monsters. That being true, why don’t we tone down the rhetoric. You’re making fools of yourselves.
Edyt and Yo La Tango, good to see you back.
It’s Jill’s blog, and I reckon she’s “making hay while the sun shines.” You’ll have that….
Doug
Yo La Tango at August 18, 2008 10:47 PM,
Answer one question for me and if your answer is at all reasonable I will consider Obama something other than a faux-Christian.
What could Barack and Michelle Obama say to Jesus in order to get His blessing in their personal decision promote the PBA with votes and fundraisers to keep it legal?
Anybody who would vote against BAIPA and use his position in the Health and Human Services committee to obstruct it’s passing is a MONSTER!
I won’t be voting for Obama. Pretty simple. I don’t hate him. I don’t think he is a monster. He calls himself a Christian. I get to see for myself don’t I? His actions speak louder than his words.
Truthie – Obama wouldn’t have to say anything. Jesus can see into the hearts of men and know their intentions. You suspect without evidence that Obama is malicious. I’m not convinced. And as a Quaker I have to believe in the good of men even when given overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
As long as you’re asking deep questions you might want to ask McCain which part of his war captive story is true…he may have plagerized a bit.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mark-nickolas/did-mccain-steal-his-cros_b_119471.html
I think “NONE OF THE ABOVE” should be on the ballot.
