Worst headline of the week

The woman who called partial birth abortion a “legitimate medical procedure” was quoted for this ironic headline on Politico.com. Michelle Obama said on 60 Minutes Sunday she hopes the White House will be “full of life and energy.” Quite the contrary, it will be full of energy to kill life.

  1. There’s plenty of life in the United States. I agree with Virgina, you’re really reaching for ways to insult the future first lady.

  2. I have next to no sympathy for those who support abortion, especially those who go out of their way to support partial birth abortions.
Whatever insults she garnishes over the issue are well deserved in my opinion.

  3. abortion has robbed us of future doctors, nurses, teachers, researchers, (authors)/ writers, governors, mayors, architects, marine biologists, Veterinarians, Chefs, football players, ballerinas, firefighters, police officers and the list goes on. Need I say more?

  4. No offense Liz, but abortion has also robbed us of murderers, theifs, dictators and so forth.
Abortion isnt wrong because of the potential that is prevents…it is wrong because of what it does in the exact moment.

  5. “Quite the contrary, it will be full of energy to kill life.”
I don’t think they walk around their house getting psyched about abortions, guys. Come on.
But please, keep trying to change minds by insulting people. When I read these comments, I’m a little embarrassed. If someone was on the fence on the issue, you’d push them to pro-choice… not pro-life.

  6. hahaha John!!!!! Radical homosexuals? Oh right….. You mean those homos who try to stop heterosexual couples from going into movie theaters, bomb wedding chapels and china stores, and jump elderly couples coming out of Sunday mass.

  7. Yeah those homosexuals can get awfully violent Virginia. It must be all that testosterone. Oh wait…
I agree with Oliver, Liz. If abortion kills doctors and nurses I must also kill thief’s and rapist, ect. Abortion has probably killed a few abortionists too. Heck if my parents aborted me you’d all be a lot happier.

  8. show me a report of that on a real news site and then it will be worth reading
BTW people, the plural of thief is thieves

  9. Heck if my parents aborted me you’d all be a lot happier.

Not me Jess, I find you adorable.

  10. Yes, Virginia, there are radical homosexual hatemongers. And they have been terrorizing people since the election. Michelle Malkin has the links to all of the “real” news sites. Educate yourself.

  11. Well Carla it’s kind of like how a person shouldn’t put on a white robe and talk about white power in Harlem the day after MLK was assassinated.
And now I’ve heard some doctors have cured a person with Aids. They didn’t say they had a definite cure yet, but they did cure that one person. If God sent Aids to punish homosexuals, maybe this is God’s way of telling us that homosexuality is not wrong?

  12. I agree with Hal, Jess. :)
And John, if that’s what happened- I don’t agree with what they did. But, are we going to do a “well, they did it, so we can” thing?
I’m not sure what “radical homosexuals” have to do with you guys thinking insulting people will make them see that abortion is wrong.

  13. John,
Once again I got a huge chuckle from your posts.
    Thanks!
I wonder how much energy and life there would be around the white house if one of their daughters’ found out she was pregnant.

  14. Hey John I thought there were no personal insults on this blog? Apparently you don’t take this site too seriously.

  15. Josephine, radical homosexuals seem to be gaining support through their extremely hateful actions.
Pro-lifers are, by comparison, very reserved. Perhaps the lesson we should take from that is that we’re not being angry and militant enough?

  16. I wonder how much energy and life there would be around the white house if one of their daughters’ found out she was pregnant.

Same as any other American house I would suppose.

  17. I didn’t mean you Hal I meant the “pro-lifers”. And now I’m a “brainless nincompoop” because I don’t agree 100% with what John says. Maybe I hate babies and want them all dead John? Maybe I hate straight people because they have these stupid babies? Then I guess I would be going down the right road.

  18. No, Jess, you’re a brainless nincompoop because you seem to be incapable of putting a string of words together into a cogent sentence, and are prone to flying off the handle with crazy statements like “maybe I hate straight people because they have these stupid babies”.

  19. If it’s not a cogent sentence I don’t understand who you understand what I’m saying. I think you’re just grasping at straws.

  20. How do you know homosexuals are gaining support through radical things like beating up prayer groups.
How about the protests? How about the famous gays that are speaking out? How about the educated gays that are fighting the law with words?
You don’t know why the fight for gay marriage is gaining momentum. It could be a great number of reasons.

  21. If it’s not a cogent sentence I don’t understand who you understand what I’m saying.
    OwOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo….

  22. Words have the power to both destroy and heal. When words are both true and kind, they can change our world. – Buddha

  23. Erin we can improve things so much under Obama and most people here will still be complaining that it’s the end of the world.

  24. The wrath of God is indeed being revealed from heaven against every impiety and wickedness of those who suppress the truth by their wickedness. For what can be known about God is evident to them, because God made it evident to them. Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made. As a result, they have no excuse; for although they knew God they did not accord him glory as God or give him thanks. Instead, they became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless minds were darkened. While claiming to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for the likeness of an image of mortal man or of birds or of four-legged animals or of snakes. Therefore, God handed them over to impurity through the lusts of their hearts for the mutual degradation of their bodies. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and revered and worshiped the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Therefore, God handed them over to degrading passions. Their females exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God handed them over to their undiscerning mind to do what is improper.
They are filled with every form of wickedness, evil, greed, and malice; full of envy, murder, rivalry, treachery, and spite. They are gossips
and scandalmongers and they hate God. They are insolent, haughty, boastful, ingenious in their wickedness, and rebellious toward their parents.
They are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know the just decree of God that all who practice such things deserve death, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.
    -Paul

  25. Jess: “If it’s not a cogent sentence I don’t understand who you understand what I’m saying.”
Jess: “Well John you certainly put me in my place when you answered my question so eloquently. ”
To be honest, I am not exactly sure if these statements are sarcastic or not….

  26. For just a moment, imagine it is a group of angry Christians that begins to attack a group of homosexuals. Beating them, shouting at them, sexually assaulting them, pouring hot coffee on them.
Golly gee whiz, I wonder if that story would make some headlines?
Also, I saw NO mention of arrests made of any of the angry gays.
I do not condone violence of any kind from those that have a point to make or a differing of opinion. Like I tell my 2 year old, “Talk like a big boy. Use your words.”

  27. carla it sounds like the claims of physical and sexual abuse may not be legitimate, perhaps that’s why. You can bet if they were they would have been widely reported and arrests made.

  28. Considering that the “gay” movement is gaining converts by going into churches and screaming “JESUS WAS A HOMO!”, I guess we pro-lifers just aren’t being angry enough, and aren’t breaking enough laws, huh?
FYI, I’m not arguing that we should become angrier and more militant. Just pointing out the ridiculous double-standard, AGAIN. Just as someone with a “D” after his name can get away with just about anything while someone with an “R” after his name is crucified for any misstep, so it is with gay activists and pro-life activists.

  29. The gays are now demanding that the judicial activists overturn Prop 8 because they don’t like it. Hey, can we ask them to overturn the election of Obama because we don’t like it? Why don’t we just ask some random unelected judge in a robe to overturn anything and everything that we don’t like. That’s what democracy is all about.

  30. sorry, that was for John. Should have known……..
No, john those angry protests probably aren’t having any effect on advancing equal rights for gays. That’s moving forward on other grounds.
And some in the prolife movement are now realizing that the way to advance their cause is not through angry protests and attacks and legislation.

  31. sorry those last couple anonymous were me.
Now back to the original topic. There is something lively about having a young family in the white house again! How exciting it must be for them! And a new puppy!

Posted by: John Lewandowski at November 20, 2008 9:16 AM
Well, John, perhaps you’ve noticed a particular poster here and throughout the internets seeking to get some random unelected judge in a robe to rule that Senator Obama cannot be sworn in.

  33. Yeah, Hal, but he has an actual reason why Obama shouldn’t be sworn in. That’s his mistake.
We should be like the radical gays and say that Obama shouldn’t be president because we don’t want him to be president. Then we’ll gain converts, because that’s the kind of intelligent argumentation that the gays use.

  34. Well, the people against Prop 8 have a legitimate issue too:
The lawsuits allege that, on its face, Proposition 8 is an improper revision rather than an amendment of the California Constitution because, in its very title, which was “Eliminates the right to marry for same-sex couples,” the initiative eliminated an existing right only for a targeted minority. If permitted to stand, Proposition 8 would be the first time an initiative has successfully been used to change the California Constitution to take way an existing right only for a particular group. Such a change would defeat the very purpose of a constitution and fundamentally alter the role of the courts in protecting minority rights. According to the California Constitution, such a serious revision of our state Constitution cannot be enacted through a simple majority vote, but must first be approved by two-thirds of the Legislature.

  35. Right; the lawsuit is total BS, and amounts to “We don’t like Prop 8, so it should be struck down.”
So that’s what we should say – We don’t like Obama, so he shouldn’t be president.

  36. All the radical gays are doing is saying that Prop 8 should be struck down because they don’t like it, but they’re being deceptive about that. I suppose that’s an important piece of the puzzle, too – to gain converts, you gotta be a lying SOB. It did wonders for Obama!
So we should say that we don’t like Obama, therefore he shouldn’t be president. But we should word it like this:
“The lawsuits allege that, on his face, Barack Obama is an improper candidate for the presidency because, in his very platform, which was “spread the wealth around”, his initiative eliminated an existing right only for a targeted minority – the right of the employed to not have their money stolen from them. If permitted to stand, the election of Obama would be the first time a Marxist has successfully been made president to change the US Constitution to take away an existing right only for a particular group – people who work. Such a change would defeat the very purpose of a constitution and fundamentally alter the role of the courts in protecting minority rights. According to the US Constitution, such a serious revision of our Constitution cannot be enacted through a simple majority vote, but must first be approved by two-thirds of the Legislature.”

  37. Ummm, john…. the money isn’t “stolen” from them. They are taxed. This country has income tax. Nothing new. This country taxes people proportionally more when they make more. Nothing new. This hardly a Marxism. Obama is not a Marxist. The election is over. Give it up.
Highly likely that you John will be paying LESS tax with Obama than you would with Bush.

  38. Psst, Virginia, I’m just pointing out the double-standard that exists between all things liberal and conservative. That’s my favorite thing to do.
Note that you said that “not enough of you felt that way” to stop Obama. Well, it’s the same exact thing in California. 52% of Americans voted Obama? Well guess what? 52% of Californians voted against calling gay sodomy “marriage”. But some 52% majorities are “landslides” while others are “evil attacks on the Constitution”. See how that works?

  39. It seems to me from what hal has written that they are contesting that the revision itself is not constitutional. That it should never have been voted on.
I do appreciate though that this and the whole debate is lost on you though because you beleive that penis-vagina sex is “marriage” and nothing will ever convinvce you otherwise. Doesn’t matter.
BTW, I believe the “landslide” refers to electoral college votes. You know, that little thingy in the constitution that determines who the country elects as president.

  40. ” Had Sasha and Malia been born into a different black family they most likely would have been aborted.”
Uhm, ya’ know not all black babies are aborted. Sheesh.

  41. Would President-elect Obama and his wife truly want for their young daughters to know about their stance on abortion? Had Sasha and Malia been born into a different black family they most likely would have been aborted. Why are they bent on the destruction of their own people? They are pro-death, and we will not progress as a nation until we eradicate this barbaric practice. So, Barack and Michelle wouldn’t mind it for Sasha or Malia to become pregnant as a young teen and have an abortion without informing them. I’m not saying they wouldn’t mind for their daughter/s to become pregnant at such a young age. I’m saying they wouldn’t mind it if they were kept totally in the dark about such a significant life event. Or, is it just easy to talk nonchalantly and theoretically about things that don’t touch our lives in a personal way? Abortion is the American Holocaust. Our founding fathers could never in their wildest dreams have imagined that murder would be legalized in their beloved country.

  42. And talk about the double standard, pro-lifers on this board can call liberals and pro-choicers any personal insult they want and it stays up. If one person who isn’t a conservative Republican Christian can get banned for making a simple observation.
I would give an example but I’m afraid I just can’t sink down to Johns level.

  43. “Other” Virginia maybe what you should be considering why it is that the rate of black abortions is higher? Probably because the rate of young/single/poor pregnant black women is higher. How about improving their situation: increased and timely sex ed, access to affordable contraception, self esteem, education and career counselling, access to prenatal and birth healthcare, and social and economic assistance to mothers in need/ babies at risk. Maybe then these women will have real choice. And might make the choices you would rather they make. Hmmmmmm?????

  44. Jess “If one person who isn’t a conservative Republican Christian can get banned for making a simple observation. ”
    If what?
Im not sure what you meant there, but more importantly, I debated SoMG for a long time, and he was very rude. He got banned for calling Jill fat multiple times if you remember. Is that what you were talking about?

  45. Oliver, John L. told me that my entire family and I should burn in hell for all of eternity.
I’d say that trumps calling someone fat. (Especially someone who isn’t even fat!)

  46. I am one of those on the fence people, trying to decide what I agree with… and I’ve got to say, the insult-flinging option is not attractive. It takes away from your message.

  47. Maye, things have been a bit more heated around here since the election, especially between pro-life dems and republicans.
Things should get back to normal in the next few weeks as we settle in to the new administration.
What are your conflicts? Maybe I can help you off the fence.

  48. No, Josephine, I said that I *hope* you and your family burn in Hell for eternity. Unlike Obama supporters, I am an honest person, and that was the most honest way I could think of to express my contempt for pro-Obama “Catholics”, who are absolutely vile.
I’m not talking about idiots who voted for Obama out of stupidity and ignorance. I’m talking about people who had full knowledge of how pro-abortion Obama is and voted for him anyway, ENTHUSIASTICALLY. They are the worst people in the world.

  49. hey john tell us how youfeel about the many smart people who voted for Obama!
I bet you don’t get invited to many parties do you?

  50. I’m not talking about idiots who voted for Obama out of stupidity and ignorance. I’m talking about people who had full knowledge of how pro-abortion Obama is and voted for him anyway, ENTHUSIASTICALLY. They are the worst people in the world.

oh, but we’re still bud’s, right?

  51. “I said that I *hope* you and your family burn in Hell for eternity.”
LOL John. Then you go on to put “Catholics” in quotes. Like it’s not okay for Catholics to vote for Obama, but it’s okay for Christians to hope people’s families burn in hell.
    Wow John. ………Wow.

  52. Wow John. ………Wow.
Posted by: Josephine at November 20, 2008 6:46 PM
yeah, he’s a real class act. But sincere, I’ll give him that. Misguided, sure. But sincere.

  53. Virginina: “hey john tell us how youfeel about the many smart people who voted for Obama!”
….he did. John shouldnt have said what he said, dont get me wrong, but at least read his posts.
He said that the people who were NOT stupid or ignorant, which would include both average and smart educated people, are the worst people in the world. A bit over dramatic for my tastes…but he DID tell you about the smart people.
    John,
Do us a favor and tone done the rhetoric a little bit. I dont really recall noticing you that much before, so I can only assume you made some intelligent-ish posts in the past for the most part. The past few days have shown you to be a bit “out there” so to speak. It isnt too late to pull things back into perspective. It looks like you have been enraged by some of the amoral choicers on the site, and I dont blame you. However, Ive been there before, trust me when I say that it helps to take a break for bit to gather your composure. Thats just my two cents of course…do whatever you want ultimately.

  54. Very nice Oliver. I like the part where you call us “amoral”. Sorry, I do know the difference between right and wrong. It’s just that we differ on what is right on some issues.

  55. It seems to me from what hal has written that they are contesting that the revision itself is not constitutional. That it should never have been voted on.
Posted by: Virginia K at November 20, 2008 10:56 AM
Opponents of Prop 8 tried to get it taken off the ballot before the election. The courts ruled it stayed. They lost that argument before it was ever voted on, why do they think they can win it now?

  56. @ Kristen at November 21, 2008 8:23 AM
Just because they got shot down once doesn’t mean they should stop triyng: this is America, after all.
