Jivin J’s Life Links 2-23-10

Marshall said his broader point on Thursday was that he had collected a substantial amount of published medical research suggesting that abortions raise the risk of miscarriage and birth defects in subsequent pregnancies and that those findings echoed the Bible’s teaching that abortion is wrong….
“The point is, there are profound consequences to the act of abortion,” Marshall said.
Late Monday, his office released a formal apology. Addressing the story that his office said had “conveyed the impression that I believe disabled children are a punishment for prior abortions,” Marshall explained:
“No one who knows me or my record would imagine that I believe or intended to communicate such an offensive notion. I have devoted a generation of work to defending disabled and unwanted children, and have always maintained that they are special blessings to their parents. Nevertheless, I regret any misimpression my poorly chosen words may have created as to my deep commitment to fighting for these vulnerable children and their families.”

After the Jim Pouillon’s murder a Planned Parenthood escort asked me if I was afraid someone would drive by and shoot me. I told him that I would rather die helping to save a child than live helping to kill them. He just snarled at me and turned away.
I hope Robert Marshall will be able to convey his thoughts a little bit better from now on. I bet he is not having much fun right about now.
Who says that kind of thing, anyway? (Robert Marshall, apparently. Ba-dum, tish.) Especially with disabled children being aborted right, left, and center as they are. Honestly, if it’s really a punishment, then the implication is that it’s the disabled who are being punished, since they’re so often killed before even being allowed to breathe. Honestly, this is almost a non-apology even as it stands.
I must say I was disappointed when I read Bob Marshall’s comments and am glad to hear he’s just another victim of “runaway tongue syndrome.” I voted for him precisely because of his pro-life stance. My family has reached out to him regarding autism bills before the VA assembly and he has been one of our biggest supporters in Richmond. I can honestly say he cares about disabled and special needs children. Like many politicians, he got fired up and lost in the moment.
