In Canada, a motion by the Liberal party to include abortion funding in Canada’s G8 initiative to improve the health of women and children in the developing world was defeated:
The Liberal motion did not specifically mention the word “abortion” but its intent was understood. Indeed, Ignatieff at one point during debate railed against “botched procedures” in the backstreets of the developing world….
A Seattle mother is upset with her daughter’s in-school clinic after the clinic helped her daughter get an abortion during a school day without her knowledge:
When she signed a consent form, “Jill” figured it meant her 15-year-old could go to the Ballard Teen Health Center located inside the high school for an earache, a sports physical, even birth control, but not for help terminating a pregnancy.

“She took a pregnancy test at school at the teen health center,” she said. “Nowhere in this paperwork does it mention abortion or facilitating abortion.”
Jill says her daughter, a pro-life advocate, was given a pass, put in a taxi and sent off to have an abortion during school hours, all without her family knowing.
“We had no idea this was being facilitated on campus,” said Jill. “They just told her that if she concealed it from her family, that it would be free of charge and no financial responsibility.“
In the UK, a teenage girl’s abortion apparently caused a rift between the families of the girl and her boyfriend which ended in the boyfriend’s murder.
Dan Sotelo needs to learn how to make an argument. The political science major at the University of AZ doesn’t like a graphic display of abortion images on his campus and the university paper has published his opinion piece. Unfortunately, instead of making an argument against the display, Sotelo’s editorial is filled with unsupported assertions like his position that the comparison between abortion and other disturbing violations of human rights “lacks validity” and “just as Howard Stern is dismissed for his shock-jock antics, so too must this display be dismissed” and “the views of the organizers aren’t invalid, but their ends-justify-the-means approach is unnaceptable [sic].”

The abortion during school hours without parental notification just makes me SO ANGRY!!! What in the world is going on in high school these days. Children certainly can not make these decisions without their parents. I guess this is why we are to be parents until they are 18! I have 3 teenagers and can see how much guidance they still need. They just don’t have the experience to make these decisions.
From the rest of the article, it states that the school district doesn’t run the clinic but Swedish Medical Center runs the clinic at Ballard High and protects the students’ privacy. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! There website has the school logo and looks very official to me – certainly supported by the school district. I hope this mother gets a great lawyer and sues that district for all she can get.
Googled turned up the actual site of the health (I read death!) center. From their website:
Any Ballard High School student may be seen at the Health Center: Teens can be seen for confidential family planning services(at any age), STD testing(if over age 14), and mental health counseling(if over age 13) without parental consent.
Problems with this:
1. Any age student can get family planning services, but you have to be 14 to have STD testing? Great, you can have s*x but we can’t test you for the 25 differest diseases you could contract.
2. The parents aren’t involved in mental health counseling? WHAT? Who cares more for their kids that their parents? Who should watch over the suicidal child while treatment starts? The school certainly isn’t going to be home with the child. More government take over.
Jill, please move this to it’s own post. I don’t want the readers to miss this, if have to move to a second page.
Any one know anything about the Swedish Medical Center?
Improving the health of women and children in the world?
Gee, how about improving their health with education, clean water, good nutrition, health care, protection from abuse, equality, and sanitation? I know, abortion is a lot cheaper and easier and it really gives the impression of compassion and concern.
Wonderful how the school once more covered up the statutory rape of a 15 year old.
Not to beat on Jill (in the article), but we have to create an environment where, if our kids do become pregnant, they can’t be shamed into running counter against the principles they declare they defend. This has got to be devastating for the girl, and unfortunately will lead to a cruel path.
Somebody please tell the abortionists to just shut up about that bogus, absurd, tired old “argument” about “back alleys”.
It was refuted about 40 years ago. Enough already.
The abortionists greatly exaggerated and lied about the number of deaths to push their inhuman agenda. Even if their numbers were completely true it would be irrelevant. There are deaths every year from illegal back alley murders, rapes and armed robberies. That does not mean we should permit those crimes.
The only question is whether or not a particular activity is a crime or not. If it is, it must be prohibited regardless of any other consideration.
The Seattle story makes me wonder if my local high schools could take a girl secretly for an abortion. (Parental notification isn’t being enforced very well)…..
I don’t agree with the existence of “school health centers”. Too much oversight is lost by parents. What’s wrong with Mom taking her children to the doctor’s office like we used to? Parents are really naive about what’s going on in the world today.
The pro-aborts have a stranglehold on our country, and it’s time to take it back. Sheesh.
