New Stanek WND.com column, “Blagojevich’s crimes against the sanctity of life”
Opening arguments were heard yesterday in the federal corruption trial of former IL Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
Blagojevich stands accused of attempting to sell President Barack Obama’s vacated US Senate seat.
Blagojevich and wife Patti have recently portrayed themselves as sympathetic figures on reality television, he on Celebrity Apprentice and she on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
Both attempts have worked to a degree. About Patti’s on-air stint in a Costan Rican jungle Huffington Post noted:
It was image changing, too, for Blagojevich, who came off as a down-to-earth, well-liked mom. Before the show, Blagojevich was mostly known for being a foul-mouthed political spouse caught on federal wiretaps prosecutors had made of her husband.
Rod even managed to win over Donald Trump. When Trump fired Rod in episode 4 because he didn’t know how to use modern communication methods (texting, e-mail) to communicate with his team, the Chicago Sun-Times reported:
Donald Trump was hesitant to fire Blagojevich, saying he thought the impeached ex-governor was afraid to offend potential jurors while competing.
“I think Rod is being overly nice because he has some pretty big things to do when we’re finished with this,” Trump said. “I think he’s in a very tough position. I think you’re a guy with great courage.”
Oh, please. As governor of IL, Rod Blagojevich was anything but courageous, taking inordinate pleasure in picking on people way smaller than himself. On the life issue in particular, Blagojevich was a bully for death.
In 2005…

Nice article, Jill.
It’s amazing how corruption and a tendency toward the destruction of human life go hand in hand. Everything from Blagojevich to the abortion doctor slapping patients in Florida.
I think there’s an underlying social phenomenon that pro-lifers need to be conscious of: “social evolution.” And this story is a fine example of it’s clear and widespread consequences.
Well, to be fair, some prolife and/or Republican pliticians are corrupt to, but I always thought that Blago was a real creep.
I am asking all Christian prolifers to pray in unity regarding justice being served in this trial. Thanks Jill I too smelled a rat regarding PP building the largest abortuary in the country at that time in Aurora. I will continue to pray that God will expose and uncover every deal made, every politician or others involved in cutting a deal, every lie, deception and illegal activity related to this and other illegal pro-death deals made. I think this Blago trial could be the tip of the iceberg to unravelling the corruption throughout the state of Illinois. Thank you Jill for being a voice for the unborn babies. May God continue to bless you, your staff and your family.
In a fallen world, image is everything, but like cheap wine, the effects are only temporary.
One thing the former governor of the State of Illinois and most of the politicians of today miss is a small verse in Numbers 32:23, “Be sure and know, your sins shall find you out.” The Blagojeviches are trying to hide their real agenda and have been caught. It will be interesting to see what happens in that Court room.
However, whatever way it goes, eventually they will stand before God and be judged on their actions. Unless they repent of their sins and accept Jesus Christ as their LORD and Savior, they face a future that is very bleak.
Jesus said if a person harms a little child, it would be better for them to have a millstone tied around their neck and be thrown into the sea then what is going to happen to them.
Unfortunately, those who promote abortion don’t understand that. But there is no great harm to a child then an abortion. So far, we have had over 50 million of them in this Country over the last 38 years. Thank you Supreme Court and the lies you listened to on that day of Roe vs. Wade.
Philippians 1:3
Son of a Blagojevich, Batman!
Doesn’t the Trump man it is not the ‘Chicago way’ to text or emaild.
They let their brick bats and tire irons do their communicating.
Nothin like a dead fish to let the object of their ire he/she has been made the first and final offer that any street savvy person would recognize irrefuseable.
Yes, Blagojevich is a sleazeball. But are all the conservative republican politicians paragons of virtue? Do they all follow “family values” and “traditional values?”
Are they above reproach and free of all corruption? Are you kidding? Don’t make me laugh!
Plenty of them give lip service to “republican” morality” and conservative “values” but are prize sleazeballs and total hypocrites themselves.
More than a few routinely condemn homosexuality and rail at the supposed “gay agenda” while being secretly gay themselves, proving that they just go through the motions of being anti-gay just to look good in the eyes of other conservatives.
Plenty of the Washington conservative politicos have had exra-marital affairs, fathered illegitimate children, regularly used call girls and had sex with minors, male and female.
Even worse, they wail endlessly about the”sanctity of life” and the “right to life” and
bemoan the “slaughter” of “innocent babies in the womb” while routinely voting to eliminate government programs to help poor pregnant women so that that would be able to take better care of their children, thus merely contributing to the high abortion rate in America.
And at least Barney Frank is honest enough to admit being gay.
And if the Obama administration could get its policies working, the increased help to the could greatly reduce the number of abortions in America. At least Obama is no hypocrite.
Correction: That should read “so that they would be able to” and “increased help to the poor”.
Oh, that stupid Celebrity Apprentice commercial that ran drove me nuts! Blagojevich saying, “You’re fired? Yeah, I’ve heard that one before!” As though his impeachment was some sort of trivial, humerus thing that he should make light of! Ick!
Praying for justice.
whatahamburgler,
Thanks for putting in what I deliberately left out.
Son of a Blagojevich is a democRAT!
Even if the Blag had a different political affiliation he would be just as corrupt.
I am relieved the impeached ex-Gov is one of your fellow liberal progressives.
It’s one thing to hit on the pages in congress or the interns in the White House. It is quite another to commit perjury or extortion, black mail and bribery and use federal tax dollars to do it.
you go girls! You too men, if there are any of you in the democRAT party.
Thanks for the great article, Jill. Another former governor of Illinois who now resides behind bars courtesy of the state also cunningly tapped into what he thought was a sure-fire way to garner support and CASH from the hard core lefties/choicers. For George Ryan the matter was, if memory serves me correct, the issue of increasing Illinois funding of abortion through Medicaid.
Interesting, is it not, how both of these clowns so thoroughly immersed in the culture of political corruption, living their dual lives of private betrayal of the public trust versus their contrived “official” personas of fearlessly standing up against pro-life pharmacists and pro-life activists–that they should now find themselves on the justice end of things.
Obama is another in the line of Illinois politicians pandering to “choicers” every chance he gets. And he is every bit as crooked.
As the Blago trial goes forward it is being shown how despicable all those guys were, including Obama’s real estate “fairy” as someone called him–Tony Rezko–who was Blago’s brains behind complex schemes to defraud the public trust.
There is an old axiom: Where there is smoke, there is fire. Obama’s buds: the domestic terroist Bill Ayers, the bombastic America hater Jeremiah Wright, and the convicted swindler Tony Rezko were all dog-eared files in his rolodex. And we are supposed to believe that he was just the innocent little community activist that had no clue?
