Planned Parenthood to offer “insemination services,” marketing lesbians
Just spotted this announcement on Twitter by Planned Parenthood St. Louis Region:

The link takes you to PPSLR’s Facebook page, and the announcement is this…

As far as I can tell – after checking PP Federation’s site and then PP Golden Gate, which would seem the 1st logical PP to offer stud services – this is the only PP nationwide offering this service so far.
Lovely. PP now specializes in aborting natural pregnancies and inseminating unnatural pregnancies – breaking up natural families and bonding unnatural families.

Planned Parenthood never had much use for men other than to be chewed up and spit out, used for sex and then told to shut the he** up unless they’re gonna pay for the abortion.
And now, when you WANT to conceive, you don’t have to worry about having to deal with an icky, useless man getting in the way of your plans.
Ah, modern feminism.

Janet, your comment gave me the hilarious mental image of a telemedicine scheme in which the doctor on the screen explains the use of a turkey baster, after which the machine dispenses vials of sperm.
Jill, I do have to take issue with your statement that this creates “unnatural” families. Many people, despite a homosexual orientation, maintain a natural desire to be parents. Long before the practice was medicalized and formalized, lesbians conceived children by getting male friends to serve as donors.

Elizabeth Shearer says:
@Kelsey. We’re talking about artificial insemination I thought. By definition, “artificial” means “unnatural”. I don’t understand why the fact that the practice of A.I. might have been used by lesbians to conceive previously, makes it any more natural. A natural family is one man and one woman coming together in the sexual union to bring about a child. There’s not a whole lot of nature involved in being put together in a petri dish, right? What am I missing?

Kelsey says:
I thought that Jill’s point was that it was unnatural because the parents are gay. Some straight couples use artificial insemination with donor sperm (if the husband carries a serious genetic disease, for example) and I’ve never heard them be condemned for it. Yes, a conception may be artificial, assisted by doctors, or what have you, and of course that isn’t the “natural way.” But going from that to calling the whole family “unnatural” bothers me.
P.S.– Artificial insemination doesn’t involve a petri dish. You’re thinking of in vitro fertilization.

Kelsey, a lesbian couple connotates the primary participants in an “unnatural” family. Homosexuality is an abnormal sexual behavior. It is not an “orientation,” as if one is born a homosexual. It is learned, often the result of a childhood trauma or abnormal parenting.

What I find curious is the PP marketing campaignd appears to be targeting homosexuals, before heterosexuals.
I do not understand teh economics of this approach.
Surely the market demand for heterosexuals desiring artificial insemination is much greater than for homosexuals.
It does not take a rocket scientist to calculate/determine when ovulation is about to occur and it is not a high tech process to procure the sperm and deliver it in close proximity to the cervix.
This is just ‘queer’ as in odd, strange, bizarre.
There must be more to this story.

Hi Kelsey, the Catechism of the Catholic Church states:
“2376 Techniques that entail the dissociation of husband and wife, by the intrusion of a person other than the couple (donation of sperm or ovum, surrogate uterus), are gravely immoral. These techniques (heterologous artificial insemination and fertilization) infringe the child’s right to be born of a father and mother known to him and bound to each other by marriage. They betray the spouses’ “right to become a father and mother only through each other.””

MaryLee says:
Ugh, I made the mistake of reading this post today.
Jill, homosexuality is NOT a choice. It is NOT a learned behavior. My cousin is gay—he was gay from the day he came out of the womb. His mother is a devout Christian who adores her son, did not abuse him, and there is no trauma or abnormal parenting in his history. My best gay friend has excellent parents, and comes from an upper middle class suburban neighborhood. None of my gay friends–except for one–had any abuse in their childhood, and the one that was abused suffered BECAUSE she was gay.
Christian pro-lifers claim the Bible says homosexuality is a sin, and then quote Leviticus and St. Paul. Well, gosh, the same passage in Leviticus tells you how to sell your daughter as a slave, and also says not to eat pork. St. Paul was an amazing writer, but he was hardly even in favor of marriage (except where it helped on “avoid sin”)….It’s possible that we simply have never understood homosexuality, and because it is different and because we don’t understand it, we condemn it and judge it and treat gay people as if they’re less than human. It’s really, really sick. What is an abomination, I should think, is the pride of those who judge others so harshly.
If the pro-life community can please, please stop the homophobia, and stop equating gay rights and homosexuality as the equivalent to abortion, then we’re never going to get anywhere. They are two very separate issues.

MaryLee – if one sex is not necessary for reproduction, then neither is the other. Humans become products. Planned Parenthood is not providing abortion nor insemination for free.
As for judging harshly – go ahead and tell God he’s proud. It’s His book and his Word. Jesus talked considerably about the fires of Hell – what do you think He was referring to?

I totally agree with you Jill. We will be maligned for “speaking the truth in love”. No hate, no “homophobia”, not politically correct but the “truth will set you free”. Babies are “naturally” the product of 2 parents of 2 distinctly different reproductive systems that unite together anatomically, physiologically, emotionally, hormonally, mentally and spiritually (at least that is what God intended) to reproduce and create a unique, separate, NEW human being.
Love your post Paul, “I was conceived at an abortion clinic”. What an unbelievable thing for a child to be able say.
The tragic irony of this is, what if the genetic testing comes back and the baby is not “perfect” or he/she is the “wrong gender”, the baby’s 2 mommies (I refer to PP’s ad), or 2 daddies (via a surrogate mom) or Mom and Dad (whatever the case may be) can just return to PP to abort the life of their “baby”, (oops, I forgot to say “product of conception”) that they conceived there. Talk about double dipping, they can make bank either way. Cha-ching!!! BTW do the 2 mommies or 2 daddies or mom and dad get to sue for “wrongful life” if the baby is not what the couple wanted?

I think some of you (Sydney, yor broken) get your kicks by conjuring up these Sweeney Todd-esque abortion clinic scenarios. From the PP’s I’ve seen, the facilities are sanitary. The physicians are licensed. And their employees–even senior staffers–aren’t exactly rolling in dough (verifiable by a quick check of their irs statement). So much for the Abortion Barons.
Yes, PP provides abortions, which many of you find objectionable. Okay. But seriously, gross mischaracterizations and flimsy conspiracy theories don’t help your cause. 3% of PP’s services are abortion-related. PP’s Title X funding can’t be used for abortion, so if you want to take issue with funding sources, don’t attack the govt–go after the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation. Also, outright condemntation of PP implies that you would deny so many American women crucial healthcare services, like breast exams, Pap smears, HIV testing, etc etc. Did you know that, for many adult women, the point of entry into the health care system is the Title X clinic?

Hi, Ashley. I have a more positive impression of Catholism on the whole than you do, but as someone who was conceived through artificial insemination by my parents, I agree with you to an extent. For those who oppose artificial insemination no matter what the circumstances are, my parents were married for ten years before they were able to conceive me. (They’re still married, by the way. Happily.) I am the biological child of both of them. They didn’t create any embryos and then kill them or leave them frozen forever. They were just having problems getting the sperm to the egg the regular way, so without killing any human beings, they got it there a different way. It doesn’t make me artificial or unnatural.
“It is learned, often the result of a childhood trauma or abnormal parenting.”
Sorry, Jill, but that doesn’t work with me. I’m bisexual and have never had a relationship with a woman, though I’ve been strongly attracted to many. I met my boyfriend early in life and fell in love with him, and seeing as he makes me blissfully happy, I’m not about to have a relationship with a woman. How can something be a learned behavior without the behavior?
My only childhood trauma was that a bunch of kids bullied me in fifth grade, for reasons that had nothing to do with sexuality. My mom was a stay-at-home mom for my whole childhood; she and my dad sent me to Catholic school from kindergarten through twelfth grade and we went to church every week. We still go to church every week. I have never been beaten, abused, molested or raped. I could make you my official biographer with access to all my stuff and everyone who knows me and you still wouldn’t find any childhood trauma or abnormal parenting. I wasn’t even allowed to watch violent TV shows or movies. On the other hand, my boyfriend’s parents got divorced when he was two because his father is an alcoholic, and my boyfriend is straight.

I don’t know if you realize it or not, but the Catholic church as well as all churches are filled with imperfection and sinners which includes hippies and cranky old hags (I’m kinda a combo of the two). Please stop blaming others for your not attending Mass. The fact is, you don’t attend because you don’t want to. It is that simple.

Sweeny Todd aside, PP is a business, purportedly a ‘non-profit’ business. But that does not mean that PP is unprofitable or charitable.
‘Non-profit’ means that dividends cannot be paid to the owners. ‘Non-profit’ organizations like PP are often very profitable.
Whatever beneficial and therapeutic services PP may provide to her clients, she does so with tax dollars.
Any money from paying customers is laundered and funneled into all kinds of partisan political purposes.
There is little or no accounting of how this whore house of the left allocates and re-distributes the monies that pass through her blood stained hands.

You are pleased with the ‘status quo’ because PP funds candidates and policies that harmonize with your amoral worldview.
A billion dollars can buy a lot of lipstick, but
if PP were dis-established and defunded today, she would be exposed and quickly wither and die like the decadent ugly whore that she really is.
