The (Abortion) Procedure
“The Procedure,” just up on YouTube, is such a well-done and profound little film. I give it four stars, which is rare. Excellent script, acting, and production. I also like that it does not stereotype abortion workers, believe it or not. I think portraying them evenhandedly and as professionals will keep abortion proponents from immediately turning away from the film and subsequently its message.
“The Procedure” is quite impactful. I’ll leave it at that. (It’s better watched on a bigger screen if possible.)
In case you needed to know, the procedure = the abortion procedure [Hat tip: American Life League on Twitter]

Clinic workers are portrayed as “professionals”, but I seriously doubt an ACTUAL clinic worker would say “If you’re having ANY doubts, now’s the time to tell me”.They’re there to make money, they don’t CARE if you’re having doubts. That being said, tears are streaming down my face as I type this.
You remind me, I did note during that scene that the worker counseled two mothers at once, which is a no-no.
Moving portrayal.
Hi Jill, 7:02PM
…as well as a serious breach of patient confidentiality and I would think a HIPPA violation. Can you imagine your lawyer or accountant advising you and another person in their office at the same time?
As one who has walked this road, wow. Very moving. Forget about the breach of confidentiality. The focus is on regret when it is too late to change your mind. I know that feeling. Thankful to God for forgiveness and freedom.
Hi Mom25,
I’m trying to point out the complete lack of professionalism in these “clinics”. This would be unheard of in a medical setting. It suggests these women are just assembly line profits, not human beings in distress and need of help.
The film maker took “artistic liberities” with this film in having the two woman together in the same room so to bring tension to the scene. Of course this would never happen in real life for so many reasons.
When I had my abortion the room was full with standing room only and no one, not one person was looking or talking to another.
We’re assuming, of course, that abortion clinics always follow the rules, right?
Where did I read that a clinic has just shut down for violations one of them being that they had no private room for counseling? The women were “counseled” right there where all the other patients could walk by and overhear.
This video made me BAWL. Very very moving.
Hi Jill,
You are right – it’s well done indeed. I’ve no problem with the artistic license taken, and were I pregnant and watching it, the focus would really be on the question of “Do I want a child or not?”
This was really very beautiful and haunting.
I am disturbed and greatly saddened by the fact that we have clinics where women sit to have their children ripped from their wombs and then thrown into the incinerator like garbage. Why don’t we realize what we are doing????
*tears*
Doug,
If you were pregnant and watching this video my focus would be on ‘how the hell did Doug get pregnant’.
16 years ago I changed my mind…to late also. Very powerful portrayal of the immediate emotional reaction I had too. Wow.
Merry Christmas, Truthseeker! : )
If you were pregnant and watching this video my focus would be on ‘how the hell did Doug get pregnant’.
I’ll try to be careful, then….
: P ; )
Merry Christmas Doug!
So sad. Like what Jesus said from the cross “…they know not what they do.” How little we (as a society/culture) understand what we’re doing by allowing abortions to continue.
The arguments/rationalizations are incredible. We humans are capable of rationalizing pretty much anything “It’s so-and-so’s fault” “Well at least i don’t do x, y, z”
and one of the most famous abortion rationales: “My body, my choice.”
How little do people get that it’s not just the woman’s body involved, but also the the pre-born child’s.
It really makes me sad. And when people realize what they’ve done how much more devesating it is for them. God bless us all and may we seek His love and forgiveness. (As Jesus also said in that same line: “Father forgive them…”). Father forgive us.
No one asked me if I had second thoughts. In fact, I find the whole ‘deathscort’ practice gravely sick. A woman pulls into the parking lot and can’t have a moment to herself until her baby is dead. Deathscorts aren’t protecting women, they’re protecting money.
This film was beautiful. It tells an emotional story.
