Weekend news potpourri
There were a few great articles as well as news of interest to pro-lifers posted over the weekend I wanted to draw your attention to….
- A December 11 Wall Street Journal article entitled, “Assembling the Global Baby.” Commenter Stacy (who has also written her own post on it) aptly described it as “horrifying,” and it really is. We sometimes toss out the terms “opened a Pandora’s box” and “brave new world” cavalierly. But this is piece will shake every pro-lifer up. Our world has now entered a phase that is really all that.
- Pro-aborts are literally all a-Twitter about this December 11 New York Times piece, “Push for Stricter Abortion Limits Is Expected in House.” They’ve been retweeting it all weekend, Planned Parenthood boldly proclaiming, “We’re ready to take Rep. Joe Pitts on in 2011!,” which got an lol from me when comparing PP’s bravado to its quote in the article.
- Another must read from the weekend, Megan Fox’s “28 Revolting Quotes That Define the Pro-Abortion Left” at NewsRealblog.com. There were many I was unaware of, such as one man’s description of the abortion party he was invited to: “For the price of whatever we were willing to donate, she explained, we could partake of baked goods, beer and dancing. It was going to start at 10 p.m. at Maggie’s.”
- And yet another must read, this one funny, “Awkward Pregnancy Photos,” at Pregnant Chicken.A sample (click to enlarge)…
- Updates on famous newsmakers we’ve been following:
~ Nicole Richie married Joel Madden over the weekend, welcome news in light of their 2 children.
~ People magazine this week is featuring a story on Céline Dion and her twin sons Nelson and Eddy, conceived via IVF.
~ Little Josie Duggar (pictured right), a miracle preemie survivor, celebrated her 1st birthday December 10.
- Finally, I wanted to spotlight my Quotes of the Day last Sunday and this Sunday. In them I give a brief history of 2 beloved Christmas carols, one composed by slaves and one composed as an indirect result of slavery, the Civil War and the death of President Lincoln.
