“Like” a girl
An Israeli couple likes Facebook so much that they named their newborn daughter “Like.” You know as in the like icon on the popular Palo Alto-based social-networking site.
“To me it is important to give my children names that are not used anywhere else, at least not in Israel,” the father told the German Press Agency dpa.”If once people gave Biblical names and that was the icon, then today [the Facebook Like] is one of the most famous icons in the world.”
~Lior Adler, as quoted by Haaretz via NBC Bay Area, May 16

Hey, at least they carried her to term. In this day and age, that in itself is a miracle.

Just watch. If they have two more boys, one will be named “Face” and the other “Book”.
Yeah, and the third one will be “Poke”
And the fourth one “Comment”.
The fun never stops, my friends.
Oy!
Maybe they’ll go beyond facebook with names like “tweet”
I think it’s pretty clever! Maybe it sounds better in their language.
I think I heard about an Egyptian couple doing this as well because of the Revolution? Or is that the same story I just got the nationality mixed up? Hm.
Perhaps when the child gets older she’ll pronounce it with European vowels, so it will be heard as (lee-kay).
Or perhaps she can just legally change it to Twitter.
With the way the world evolves, something will come out that is better than Facebook and it will have different words associated with it. So, this girl will have to change her name to “Most influential social term trending internationally”. You know, Mistti for short.
Ok, Brandolyn, you win.
I used to work with a guy by the last name of May.
One of his daughters had, as first and middle names, “April June.”
Oy vey.
