Stanek Sunday quote (in honor of Blog for Choice Day): “Choose life, so *you* and your children may live.”
This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.
~ Deuteronomy 30:19, New International Version

Can I get an “Amen!”, somebody?
AMEN!! A big AMEN to this!
Yes, Hans…a big Amen!
Amen!
Love the double O heart.

AMEN! :D
I like the choir that verse is speaking to! :)
It’s crossed my mind hundreds of times. Hopefully we can get a whole lot more people to think on it.
Um, do you realize that, in context at least, Deuteronomy 30:19 is a threat? God has just finished describing what he will do to the Israelites if they don’t obey. Like, most of chapter 28 is basically an extended meditation on violence used as retaliation. The choice God is offering is more like: obey me or I’ll beat you within an inch of your lives. Just sayin. There might be better verses to pick.
God offers us all the same choice today. Obedience to His commands brings life. Disobedience brings death.
I love that verse. God sees all and is the final arbitrator.
lapidarion,
That threat originated in the Garden of Eden. His universe, His rules.
Jill,
Thank you for this particular quote…things always go better for us when we do what He tells us to…and not what He doesn’t give permission for…disobedience is why we are on this blog…I prefer life, and suspect that everyone alive (of course! no one not alive posts!) who posts here agrees…at least for their lives…
