Limbaugh: Obama may reverse contraception mandate since even Muslims oppose it
Folks, let me tell you something. Don’t be surprised if the regime reverses this. I’ve heard that they’re rethinking it, that Obama might be rethinking this ban that he’s put in effect on the Catholic church and the schools and so forth. And it could be true. It could be true. I mean even Muslim clerics have come out against this decision.
If Muslim clerics have come out against this decision, then Obama will hear that, much more than he’ll hear Catholics being upset about it.

Imagine this in reverse, and us coming up with a mandate that Muslims eat pork. Obama and his cronies would put a stop to that in a flash (imagining a sappy speech from him urging people not to ask other people to violate their conscience) then again he did promise PP he’d stand by them, and you know how they get when their donors start thinking for themselves…
Then again, this could be Obama digging himself a deeper hole-Santorum is gaining momentum. Yes, Obama, keep digging. And start packing now.
Many leaders from different religions have come out against this mandate. It’s not rational to assume that Obama may reverse it just because of the Muslims.
I don’t think Obama is a Muslim (though I think he certainly sympathizes with them). But he certainly is not a deeply religious man and holds others’ consciences in contempt. This mandate is a slap in the face not only to people’s religious convictions, but to freedom itself. The government should not force anyone to buy anything. That’s wrong and intrusive.
LOL of course – don’t listen to those pesky Christians…wait, the Muslims don’t like it – utoh we might offend someone, let’s change it!
Clarice, so what *is* logical then when so many Christian leaders have spoken against this mandate, the American people have spoken against this mandate, 90% of the Catholic Bishops of this country have spoken against it (that should be 100% but heck, I’ll take the 90%!!), there is a huge force against the mandate. But yet it takes just a few Muslim leaders to speak against it and all of a sudden he’s all ears (pardon the pun). What have they said that makes his antennae stand up that is so radically different than what the Catholic Bishops have been saying all along? What the heck are the American people supposed to think? As a conservative Catholic, it pisses me off terribly that he’ll give credence to what a Muslim will say versus what our Bishops are saying when it comes to something that not only impact the Catholic Church but will in turn, impact the entire nation towards anyone that loves their personal liberties.
Dirtdartwife, the only person saying that he may reverse because of the Muslims is Rush Limbaugh. A lot of other religious leaders have spoken up recently against the mandate, including all 65 Orthodox bishops in North and Central America. Also, Obama hasn’t actually reversed anything yet. So it is completely unwarranted and premature to say Obama is reversing anything just because of Muslims.
Jill, This is great news! I was hoping the Muslim community would step up and protest this mandate as well. When all three major faiths (Christians, Jews, and Muslims) speaking up as with a united front, the message becomes very powerful. Nevertheless, I have yet to see anything about the Muslim community speaking out against this mandate. If anyone has some links please post. Thanks
I do believe the article says “may”
Many religious groups oppose birth control laws. President Obama isn’t going to just listen to Muslims, despite what Rush Limbaugh wants people to believe. In any case, if a Muslim group sided with what the Catholic Bishops have to say, then why would Limbaugh still knock Muslims?
There are arguments to be made for or against the new mandate about birth control, but anything Limbaugh says- like taking a swipe at Islam for no apparent reason- is probably rooted in a pathological hatred for Obama (who is a practicing Christian, Rush) rather than rational discourse on whether or not this new mandate is violating our basic rights. In the interests of preserving civility and respectful debate about this issue, we ought to focus not on those who demean an entire religion and use it was a boxing glove against the president (who could single-handedly bring about world peace, end poverty, and cure cancer and still be hated) but on facts and those who are willing to argue honestly for the new laws or against the new laws.
I myself want to know more. It is not above us to debate one another and express our concerns without resorting to the regular tactics that Rush Limbaugh employs. In fact, such ignorance that Limbaugh spews is below us as people. Let’s not argue. We’re above arguing like this.
Limbaugh may be a pathological narcissist who is desperately in love with the sound of his own voice, but he does usually source his conclusions very thoroughly, via comments and press releases and so on. I’m curious what context this particular comment was in, and what the sources for this conclusion are.
Who, of the folks ripping on Rush, listen to his show regularly? (IE, know what they’re talking about?)
Courtnay, I used to listen to Rush every day. I don’t anymore because his mannerisms are usually pretty offensive and I don’t agree with everything he says. He does have good points occasionally though.
The reason I ask this is because all of my whacked out liberal friends used to bust on Glenn Beck like a broken record. I used to be a regular viewer (miss you Glenn!), and when I would ask them what is it about Glenn or his views that made them so angry, pretty much no one could articulate why or even repeat a ppoint that Beck had made.
This is not to start a debate about Rush or Glenn. They certainly aren’t for everyone. But please don’t comment on what you have never experieced (or experieced so seldom).
Oh no! I can get down with Glenn. :) Definitely don’t agree with everything he says, but he’s hilarious to watch and not as abrasive as Rush.
And people can still comment on a quote from Rush without commenting on all of Rush’s views.
lol you guys are listening to something Rush Limbaugh says? About Obama? And taking it seriously?
Clarice, the reason I ask is because it’s frustrating to be in a battle against an obstinate person that REFUSES to listen to anything you’re saying but all of a sudden a couple people (in this case Muslims) say the EXACT same thing we’re saying… and *poof*, he listens. What made the difference and why? While some people have been abrasive about how they’ve said it, that can NOT be said about the Catholic Bishops of this country. They have TRIED, repeatedly, to be as civil as humanly possible, giving all the dignity and respect deserved to person in the Office of the Presidency, but he’s flat out ignored them (and has actually mocked them by accusing them of saying they’re trying to turn the military against him- as if the military is *HIS* toy). So no, it’s not just Rush that is saying this. I want to know what the hell some Muslim people have said that have suddenly made Obama’s mind to even consider a compromise. I’m not knocking Muslims and I’m glad a couple have finally stood up to say something. But it’s a shame that for a supposedly “practicing Christian” (according to another poster… but I have my doubts that he’s a practicing anything, most certainly NOT a Christian), it’s amazing how he’ll so blatantly ignore the entire Christian base that has been trying to get his attention on this issue.
And Vannah… can we remind of you of the pathological, and illogical, HATRED of Bush during his years in office, that still exists and is STILL used as a boxing glove by Obama to be used to cite the reasons for his failures? Sheesh, Obama trying to trample on my religious liberties and freedoms and I’m not allowed to call him out on it, but it’s ok for liberals to be diabolically hateful towards Bush for no logical reason and it’s ok.
Anyone who thinks Obama is a “practicing Christian” needs to take off their rose colored glasses. He’s a practicing sociopath. He deliberately courted maverick catholics-in-name-only to get votes. Now that they’ve served his purpose, they’re disposable. His narcissism knows no bounds and hopefully will prove his downfall. Unfortunately, he has sowed many damaging seeds in the last few years, and even if he’s only a one-term prez, we still have a lot of damage to repair.
If you think Obama is a Christian, ask yourself: Do you really think that Barack Obama believes that Jesus Christ is the only son of God, that he was born of the Virgin Mary, that he was crucified, died, was buried, and rose again? Really? Because he acts like Jesus was just some quaint historic character whose followers are temporarily useful.
He proudly and frequently poses in front of Planned Parenthood’s logo but when he speaks at locations that are Catholic, he has all the religious symbols draped so they don’t show up behind him in photos. You judge for yourself.
“Many leaders from different religions have come out against this mandate”
Along with the Catholics, it’s only evangelicals and Orthodox Jews. Liberal Protestants and Jews, who run hospitals, haven’t said bupkis. In fact, Obama was praised by the clergy coalition for choice. I don’t know where Rush is getting his information about Muslims but I do know that it’s the Vatican and the Muslim countries that opposed reproductive rights for women at past world population summits such as the one in Mexico City. Islam does, however, justify abortion in the first trimesters.
”but when he speaks at locations that are Catholic, he has all the religious symbols draped so they don’t show up behind him in photos”
More right wing “Christian” propaganda. The place where he spoke, at Georgetown, is full of religious imagery.
Georgetown University spokeswoman Julie Green Bataille: In coordinating the logistical arrangements for yesterday’s event, Georgetown honored the White House staff’s request to cover all of the Georgetown University signage and symbols behind Gaston Hall stage.
The White House wanted a simple backdrop of flags and pipe and drape for the speech, consistent with what they’ve done for other policy speeches. Frankly, the pipe and drape wasn’t high enough by itself to fully cover the IHS and cross above the GU seal and it seemed most respectful to have them covered so as not to be seen out of context
BTW, when you sidewalk harassers see Protestant and Jewish clergy working as escorts, do you tell them they’re going to hell? Just curious.
Some Catholic hypocrisy here:
The largest Catholic university in the nation has admitted to providing contraception coverage as part of its health care benefit package, furtherundermining the GOP’s claims that Obama’s regulation requiring insurers and employers to offer reproductive health benefits represents and “unprecedented” war against religion
CC, stop appropriatively telling us what groups you are not a part of (Jews, Muslims, Protestants, etc., etc., etc.) think. They have their own voices. We don’t need you to speak for them. They speak fine for themselves. It’s horrendously offensive that you believe you have the authority to do this. Shut. Up.
“ We don’t need you to speak for them. They speak fine for themselves. It’s horrendously offensive that you believe you have the authority to do this. Shut. Up”
Yet, you claim to speak for all women who have had abortions (they regret it) and those considering them (they’re being coerced)? My comments accurately reflect the sentiments of those about whom I’m writing. There are numerous links to pro-choice religious views. Whassamatter, can’t handle the truth?
And BTW, one of my groups is Planned Parenthood which consists of those in pro-choice faith communities. I also had an “executive” position in the Episcopalian Church which I’m no longer a member of although I respect it tremendously.
Anything to bring down America and discard anybody that differs or those who are too young or too elderly to get out and vote! I’ve never seen such hatred displayed upon those who uphold the constitution and those who uphold the dignity of life and he’s doing so with our own tax dollars! By the way, abortion doesn’t own choice ~ it’s an attempt to distract from the reality of proabortion ~ as we’re all prochoice ~ you’re either prolife or proabortion ~ so let’s not try and make it political. It is what it is!
Oh, my word, talk about point-missing. When you come in from your “enlightened” position and lecture us on groups to which you do not belong, you are doing nothing but indulging your own privilege. You certainly don’t do it in a manner that demonstrates any genuine respect for any of the groups you claim to speak for (and, no, I don’t care that you claim to respect Episcopals or any other group; your comments over many months now do not demonstrate that respect you claim), and you refer to numerous groups (Jewish ones especially) as if they are monoliths, with no differing opinions or views. Your comments do not reflect a respect for other groups or people. The only thing they demonstrate is massive unacknowledged privilege and the fact that you feel perfectly entitled to be as culturally appropriative as you possibly can. It is disgusting and offensive and insulting on multiple levels.
You are not some cultured sophisticate teaching all the “little people” about the big, scary world. You are just one woman who hasn’t learned to check her privilege and it really, really shows.
cc can’t join any of the churches or temples to which she grudgingly gives her approval. Because she already devoutly serves her favorite idol: Abortion. Satuday doesn’t come quickly enough, does it, cc? You poor thing, having to wait days on end before you can push more babies down the chute.
“You poor thing, having to wait days on end before you can push more babies down the chute”
Yup, down the chute. Actually, Ninek, it’s not me but those silly, stupid women who have made a decision about what they’re going to do with their bodies. Don’t blame me. All we do is try to protect the women from the pro-life gauntlet. We don’t actually grab pregnant women off of the streets and force them to abort – despite your conspiratorial fantasies.
“ numerous groups (Jewish ones especially) as if they are monoliths, with no differing opinions or views”
Every thing I have said is accurate. While opinions may differ, there are “official” positions that are as “official” as the Catholic dogma about abortion and birth control. The Episcopal stance on abortion was decided at General Convention in the 90’s. There were some who objected; but as the church is based on democratic models, the majority won and continue to prevail in a very liberal church. At this point, the Episcopal church has many gay priests, a few gay bishops, and a few married gay priests. Many of those who objected to these trends have joined an American Anglican church which has linked up with conservative African Anglican bishops. While there is no ultimate teaching authority in Judaism, the Reformed (and some conservative) councils of rabbis support a woman’s right to choose. I’ve linked to sources on numerous occasions. Not everybody thinks as you do and obviously you don’t like to be reminded of that.
“but those silly, stupid women who have made a decision about what they’re going to do with their bodies.”
Everyone, I present to you Exhibit A: abortionists despise women, especially the women who show up for their services.
Let’s see that again: SILLY, STUPID WOMEN WHO HAVE MADE A DECISION..
But we need to correct the next part to: decision about what to do with a new human being’s life…
(can’t help but notice that she didn’t deny belonging to the cult of the idol of Abortion).
So…. read Rush’s thing. I see a lot of classic Limbaugh opinion, basically no facts, and Hitler comparisons while Rush himself borders on anti-Semitic. . Ha. Come on, quoting Limbaugh makes everyone look silly.
Rush is right; Obama has never shown anything but contempt toward Catholics. He is much more likely to take Muslim objections seriously. Self-hating Catholics might still support Obama, but I can’t see him winning the Catholic vote again.
“Prochoice clergy” makes about as much sense as “zionist Nazi”. One of these things is NOT like the other, but two of these things are kinda the same. And no I’m not gonna sing the rest of the song. You can thank me later, hee hee.
Rush Limbaugh? Ha ha ha ha ha…..ha ha ha!
Giving any credance to anything he has to say is about as rational as eating a cyanide sandwich.
“Imagine this in reverse, and us coming up with a mandate that Muslims eat pork.” – no-one’s mandating that catholics use contraceptives.
MPQ, would I be correct in assuming you’d like George Carlin’s comedy? His whole routine about “jumbo shrimp, plastic glass, and military intelligence” was classic. Is it a big shrimp or a little jumbo? Lol!
Rush Limbaugh is still alive? Crazy!
I think quoting Rush Limbaugh is pretty much like quoting anyone else who has an opinion. I don’t really get what the outrage is about.
And if it got you to start a discussion, then guess what? It was apparently worth posting. :D
You guys really have a problem recognizing satire around here, I see.
Kel,
Exactly. He’s weighing in with an opinion, we’re weighing in with ours, and the proaborts are hardening their arteries further over the fact that we have opinions at all. Same b.s., different day.
Ninek,
Can’t stand Carlin, especially his attacks on prolife. He’s nasty and so not funny.
MPQ, well, I found Carlin’s early material funnier than what he said as he got older. But, yep, many talented people are pro-choice unfortunately.
Ex-G, no, what’s more shocking than the fact that Rush is still alive is this:
Keith Richards outlived Michael Jackson.
Whoodathunk??
I’m gonna have to stop commenting here, for some reason every time I do it makes my browser go haywire and reboots my computer. Farewell, my lovelies, battle on.
(Greetings, Jill. Check this out – something on the web that got my attention!)
EMPEROR AND EMPRESS OBAMA
The Old Testament has time-proven insights into professional vacationers like the Obamas:
Proverbs 19:10 (NIV): “It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury – how much worse for a slave to rule over princes!”
Also Proverbs 30:22 (NIV) which says that the earth cannot bear up under “a servant who becomes king.”
And Ecclesiastes 5:2-3 (KJV) advises: “let thy words be few…a fool’s voice is known by multitude of words.”
Although Obama is not descended from slaves, he may feel that he’s destined to become a black-slavery avenger.
Or maybe an enslaver of all free citizens!
For some stunning info on Pres. Obama and his fellow traitors, Google “Imam Bloomberg’s Sharia Mosque,” “Michelle Obama’s Allah-day,” “Obama Supports Public Depravity,” “David Letterman’s Hate Etc.,” “Un-Americans Fight Franklin Graham” and also “Sandra Bernhard, Larry David, Kathy Griffin, Bill Maher, Joan Rivers, Sarah Silverman.” Also Google “Islam will purify Jews and Christians” and “Prof. F. N. Lee’s ISLAM IN THE BIBLE [PDF].”
Since Christians are commanded to ask God to send severe judgment on persons who commit and support the worst forms of evil (see I Cor. 5 and note “taken away”), Christians everywhere should constantly pray that the Lord will soon “take away” or at least overthrow all US leaders (including subversive, America-hating, Jesus-bashing Hollywood shmucks) who continue to sear their conscience, who dangle every unspeakably filthy vice before young people, and who arrogantly trample the God-given rights of the majority including the rights of the unborn. Do we need a second American Revolution?
After the Obamas are kicked out of the White House, there will be no place on earth where they can escape from scowling folks who wish to belatedly express their gratitude, in tangible ways, to the Obamas who tried to destroy the greatest nation ever.
For the record I’ll predict that after the Nov. 2012 election, Obama will try something so unthinkably insane that he will be physically restrained and locked up – and remember where you heard this first!
Oh dear, did someone leave a gate unlocked somewhere?
Conspiracy theories 101 Robert?
No, he’ll reverse it, to his political advantage when he sees it fit, if
he wants to pander to Catholic voters and make them think their voice is being heard, or
for some reason the Atheists, Masons, and Communists suddenly oppose contraception, sterilization, and abortion, which is unlikely.
Catholics and Muslims are closer on this issue than are Catholics and atheists, so I don’t buy Limbaugh’s comment.
Everyone reading this blog should read E. Michael Jones’s Libido Dominandi: Sexual Liberation and Political Control as well as these resources.
Well, you’re certainly no dittohead. I almost wish I were someone who had no problem telling you just what kind of -head you are.
I would just like to clarify that was not me who commented as Jack, haha. I don’t make fun of drug addiction. I do really dislike Limbaugh though.
If you watch the health care conscience issues in Europe, you’ll notice that the Muslims are the ones objecting to abortion as birth control and use of the morning after pill. Unlike the U.S. the European Court of Human Rights does not regard abortion as a human right, therefore it’s OK for the member nations to make laws against it. This turn of events is Muslim related.
If you’re a watcher of my blog, you’ll know that I have long been expecting most United States Christians to continue to fall down on the job of defending those who don’t want to participate in abortion. I have been expecting that the Muslims will take up the slack. They will be more effective because the government doesn’t expect them to turn the other cheek.
On the garbage posted about Rush saying “even muslims are objecting” to the Obama mandate: That statement is not a slight. People who know Islam understand that it does not forbid all abortions or all birth control. Rather it forbids each of those if done for the wrong motives. So…. even these religious adherents who do not oppose all willful killing are standing against the Obama mandate.
