Stanek Sunday funnies: Planned Parenthood as Mobster edition
Conservative political cartoonists got into gear this week, showing Planned Parenthood in its dual hit man role as a child killer and as a gangster that made Komen an offer it couldn’t refuse.
Gary McCoy drew three hard-hitting cartoons, getting so much attention for the first one that MSNBC felt pressured to discuss it. McCoy explained his thinking behind them to Daryl Cagle….

by Chip Bok at Townhall.com…
The one by Scott Stantis at the Chicago Tribune entitled, “Komen cure,” also got a lot of feedback, but mostly because people weren’t clear on his point. Read differing opinions here and here. What do you think Stantis was saying?

Very funny and accurate cartoons!!
These cartoons are spot on. I would find them amusing if the situation wasn’t so depressing.
People were calling in saying they missed the point of Stantis’ cartoon? That is because his cartoon was witty, clever, sophisticated; a deftly cutting satire. That goes completely against script. Only urban, chic, NPR listening, Village Voice reading, religion bashing secular, trendy social ultra liberals have the high IQ and necessary synapses for witty repartee – like the late Christopher Hitchens, Bill Hicks, or George Carlin. A pro-lifer having these capabilities? That’s what is confusing, not the pink ribbon kicking the baby into the Planned Parenthood trash can, which is quite obvious in its message. We’re the knuckle dragging troglodytes who just emerged from the caves with clubs on our shoulders.

Wait, now that I have posted a comment, I can see them? Why is that?
Stantis’ cartoon was devastating—if it were true. SGK by many accounts did not back down. The MSM and others would have us believe it was a victory for PP and proabort forces. If it was a victory at all it was a pyrrhic victory—the public was educated in the real ways of PP which they sought for years to suppress.
One thing that should be pointed out is that there is a significant respect in which the mother-child bond has been STRENGTHENED in modern America. Decades ago, unmarried mothers were under great pressure to place their babies for adoption, thus rupturing the biologically based mother-child bond.
Today very few girls and women who give birth place their babies for adoption. They choose instead to mother their children themselves. This seems to indicate that the mother child bond is stronger than ever.
Denise: point taken, I suppose… but I do think I’d feel much better about that state of affairs if “killing one’s child” had not ascended to such a place of popularity over “giving up one’s child for adoption”; if all of the adoptions were replaced by “keeping the child”, I’d rejoice thoroughly… but if the adoptions are replaced by dismemberment? Well…
The trend of “if I can’t have her, no one will!” and “better dead than adopted out” is an evil one.
