I’m saddened by the news that Whitney Houston passed away yesterday. Here is the New York Times obituary. TMZ is reporting the 48-yr-old drowned in her hotel bathtub. More on her last days here. And yet the party went on. Such a tragedy, all the way around.
Whitney Houston was raised a Christian. We pray she rests in peace.

Whitney was more than talented, she was gifted. She was gorgeous. She came from a strong religious family background. She also married a man who hooked her on drugs and I think she never recovered, despite the best efforts of herself and of the people who loved her. What a tragic waste. She should now be in the prime of her life and she’s dead in a bathtub.
To think this is a woman who could have had her pick of men and she wound up with Bobby Brown. She leaves behind a daughter who also suffered so much because of drugs.
What one poor choice can do to a life. May she finally be at peace. Our thoughts and hearts go out to her family and all who loved her.
Never really a “fan” but certainly someone that appreciated her tremendous talent. May she rest in peace. Where were you Kevin Costner, when we needed you? You let us down…
Prayers for her family. What a beautiful voice. I read she said her song Miracle was written about a girl’s regret over an abortion. “How could I let go of a miracle? Nothing could ever take its place – Thought I was looking, out for myself - Now it seems the pain - Is all that I have gained”
I’m saddened by the news, but not very surprised. She had such a beautiful gift from God and she took advantage of that. We all need to remember that the enemy has one purpose: to steal, kill and destroy.
i second what Mary said. it was both shocking and depressing to hear she had died. she was a class act and i will miss her.
Whitney said it best, “I am my own worst enemy.”

i liked her in the 80s and kind of lost track after the early 90s but id see media coverage over the years especially when her drug addiction was outed. i guess she was just back in rehab not too long ago and prescription drugs were found in her room. i believe after autopsy we will find out this may have been drug related. drug abuse has claimed the lives of several people i know. just more proof that the devil is indeed ever present.

This is an example of why Gloria Estefan’s second big hit so rubbed me the wrong way. “Bad, bad, bad, bad boys. They make me feel so good!”
That is not a good rule to live by.

hi mary……i agree she indeed made a poor choice in bobby brown. however i remember her pre bobby. she indeed fell hard after she married. btw nice to see you. ;)

Always nice to see you as well. Like I said, a woman who had the world and should now have been in the prime of her life. I remember her pre-Bobby as well, that’s why I feel so saddened by all of this. How nice to go to a different thread and see Beyonce and her baby!
