Very important actress thinks women shouldn’t vote Republican
I don’t think it’s a hard choice if you’re a woman…. We have to get out there and tell (others) “If you’re a woman, there is no way you can vote Republican.”
~ Actress Eva Longoria at an Obama campaign rally, as quoted by The Denver Post, July 1

“we have to get out there and tell (others)…”
Oh please do. By all means please do. Let women hear you telling them there’s “no way” they can do something they may be inclined to do, and that the reason there’s “no way” is that they’re women.
In other words, let them hear you braying that a vagina is a more proper determinant of one’s political positions than whether one exercises independent judgment between their ears.
Seriously, the more often celebrities yammer their politics, the more glad I am of the First Amendment.
The first woman to run for President in a major party, Margaret Chase Smith, was a Republican.
Gotta love that liberal tolerance. A woman can be anything she wants, except a Republican.
Thanks for telling me how I should vote, Eva. I’ve never heard of you before but I’m sure you know what’s best for all the women in our country.
Eva,
You’re not the boss of me.
Love,
x
Lots of unborn women want the opportunity to vote.
A Republican President saved the country when it threatened to blow apart into North and South. A Republican President authored the Emancipation Proclamation.
I have read that if men had stayed home in 1960 and only women had voted, Richard Nixon would have beaten John F. Kennedy in that election for President. All the oooing and awing over Kennedy’s good looks didn’t translate into votes.
Oh Eva, please stick with what you’re good at…which is…oh, wait nevermind. Just be quiet.
I’m going to use my brain as opposed to my genitalia when I vote, thanks. And I won’t be voting for the guy who is perfectly okay with killing an unborn girl just because her parents wanted a boy.
She’s got a fever, and the only prescription is more Obama.
The day I take advice from a person who gets paid to “play pretend” is the day I let my 4yo run my house, instead of her play house. Sorry, Ms. Longoria you need to get out of the play house and into the real world.
But she is just so gorgeous, she can say dumb things if she wants lol.
Each and every one of us has the opportunity to cast one vote for our choosing. Celebrities should not be using their personality power to sway the minds of the public.
Women have had the right to vote for almost 100 years, I think we can make up our own minds and don’t need Hollywood to tell us!
The Nineteenth Amendment (Amendment XIX) to the United States Constitution prohibits any United States citizen to be denied the right to vote based on sex. It was ratified on August 18, 1920.
Did she not learn anything during the making of “For Greater Glory?” She needs to get a clue. I sure as hell am not voting Democrat!
I can’t believe she was in “For the Greater Glory” and sees no connection to the HHS mandate. I quit watching her show years ago.
Oh Eva, oh Eva, Eva, Eva. What would I do without these hypocritical Hollywood celebrities giving me a chuckle every day. You know, the ones who own 7 mansions but rail against capitalism? The ones who adopt black babies because it is fashionable but argue that PP should be in every minority neighborhood?
Eva, darling, please use at least 2 brain cells and THINK dear. Think. Don’t just trumpet the mindless prattle you hear in your dressing room.
It’s a shame she was in “For Greater Glory” really. If the experience had changed her mind it would have been worth it, now it just seems like an affront to God.
There’s NO WAY a Christian woman can vote for Obama. And why would I listen to Eva? What does she know about it.
Sick of both parties. Is it ok for the GOPers to say they are pro-life and blow up innocent babies in phony wars?
I am a GOP, but will not vote for the current crop of nut balls that hate the poor and are blood thirsty for war!
View this one if you have the guts too
and maybe you won’t follow in lock step with the evil war party!
http://mindprod.com/politics/iraqwarpix.html
By the way, there is a Christian political party: The Constitution Party

Well, hey, if a Desperate Housewife tells me to vote for Obama, I guess I should listen.
*snicker*
Judy Biggert, a pro-abortion republican is running for a seat in the 11th congressional district.
Not a good choice for the seat!
No such thing as a “pro-abortion Republican”. That is called a RINO. If I was in a place that gave me the choice between 2 pro-abortion politicians, I would move, because that is how I know I live in a bad, bad place.
“To exchange one orthodoxy for another is not necessarily an advance. The enemy is the gramophone mind, whether or not one agrees with the record that is being played at the moment.” [Makes me think of the obamateur reading from his teleprompter.]
George Orwell, 1945
Obviously missy Longoria’s ‘gramophone mind’ does not pay attention to the record being played.
She is a ‘wart on women’.
Eva is just a victim of a society that has declared that women should have the right to murder their unborn children. Women need common sense legislation that supports motherhood, not abortion, but no one is fighting for that. What I take away from her statement is that she has drunk the koolaid that we allowed to be served by our own inaction. I still wonder where all the Christians are when we have abortion clinics in every major city. I only see a few here and there at the clinics. Why is that? Not trying to shame anyone, but where is everyone?
Megan, you make an excellent point. Christianity’s worst enemy is its own apathy.
Actually, Courtnay, Christianity’s worst enemy is the rebelliousness of its own members.
Pope Paul VI warned everyone what the consequences would be of attempts to legitimize contraception. He called it forty-five years ago, but too many Christians (and non-Christians, obviously) are still trying to have it both ways.
(and before you get too excited, I am fully aware that many who call themselves Catholic are doing the same thing; there’s a reason we call them CINO’s)
Like any other plague, abortion (and rampant disregard for the sanctity of marriage, for that matter, not just life) will continue to hound our society until its primary causes are dealt with.
“Lots of unborn women want the opportunity to vote.”
The next frontier for the “pro-life” movement: fetal suffrage.
Ohmygosh.
THANK YOU Eva(and Joan)for the laughs today.
No, Joan. Just birth. The other Bill of Rights will take care of the rest.
And yes…..please do keep yammering. LOL
Just another reminder joan, the term is pro-life, not “pro-life”.
How ironic coming from a “Catholic” (I put it in quotes because any Catholic who can vote for Obama is not truly Catholic…), who just starred in a movie about the government taking away religious liberty. Sorry, Eva, you just lost any ounce of respect from me that you might have gained by choosing your role in “For Greater Glory”.
Hi folks,
Several decades ago I thought about 3rd Party, democracy, etc …. and wondered about WHAT IF????. The idea seems so revolutionary it was rejected by a politco-officiando yet, I’ve seen nothing come close. So I hope you will think about it, even if you do not agree. In my opinion, people do not need their-faces-rubbed-in-their-sins whether it is abortion or the Iraq war. People are slaughtered and maimed in both.
Central concept is a FLOATING constitution. Each generation should have the ‘right’ to actively participate in this process at least once. So I figured every 50 years.
THE CONCEPT :::: every 50 years the people decide on the set-of-rules that they will be bound by for the next 50 years. In the middle of this time (for 50 years) a federal ECONOMIC STRATEGY (individual capitalism coupled with paying for ‘national’ things like parks, and ‘green’ efforts) … will be chosen.
The concept is frightening and places all so-called democracies in a perillace spot. Do you live in a democracy that kills its kids and ………………….. ?
John, we don’t live in a democracy. Democracies turn notoriously bad very quickly (if you study world history you see this is true). Our constitution is not a living document precisely to prevent evil leaders from coming to power and taking away our rights.
I don’t want to participate in writing a new constitution. Our leaders can’t even balance a budget. I certainly don’t want to give them a blank slate to pen a constitution that would lead to absolute tyranny.
What she’s really saying is there’s no way you can vote Republican without voting against your own interests. Kind of like how there’s no way someone in a household earning less than $250,000 per year can vote Republican without voting against their own economic interests.
And I’m sure this never occurred to you guys, but maybe this has nothing to do with abortion, but with domestic violence? Republicans voted against the Violence Against Women Act. Or equal pay? Republicans voted against the Paycheck Fairness Act. Or charging women way more than men for health insurance, which is outlawed in the Affordable Care Act. Or access to contraception (which you extremists may not support but 98% of women use at some point in their lifetimes)? Just some thoughts.
Access to contraception? Not a problem whatsoever. Unless by access you mean “paid for by someone other than the person using it.”
Violence against women act: http://www.wibw.com/home/headlines/House_Passes_GOP_Version_of_Violence_Against_Women_Act_151822055.html
Equal pay act:
http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2011/02/paycheck-fairness-act
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/05/paycheck-fairness-act-senate-vote_n_1571413.html
Obviously, things aren’t quite so cut and dried. Claiming the GOP is pro-violence against women or against equal pay for women is just flat-out lying. Do some more reading and fact checking before you swallow everything that’s fed to you. I don’t have time to look up links on everything you mentioned, but sometimes it’s good to read several sources for clearer understanding of the issues.
And why, specifically, did Republicans oppose the latest VAWA? Must’ve been because they hate women, to here progressives demagogue it. But you know the answer, right?
As for the paycheck fairness act, one would expect opposition from sensible quarters, since a study commissioned for Labor determined that much income disparity is a consequence of personal choices that vary between men and women, not systemic discrimination.
Access to contraception? Please, enough with the newspeak. There’s no problem with “access”. The question is whether contraception should be paid for. There’s nothing rationally wrong with saying “no.” It’s a legitimate point of view.
I am SICK AND TIRED of people telling me I am voting against my own interests as if I’m a simpleton. I am SICK AND TIRED of people telling me I oppose abortion and didn’t have my daughter killed in utero because I was too stupid to do what was in my best interest or was “too much of a coward”.
Just because someone blows smoke and tells me they have my best interests behind what they do doesn’t mean they actually do. Just because someone is principled and refuses to do something wrong (even if it’s legal!) doesn’t mean they are too stupid or cowardly (cowardly? really guys?) to do what would benefit them at the cost of another person’s life or well-being.
We should indulge their conceit and play the simpleton for them. Just not according to the script they imagine simpletons are obliged to follow. If they pipe a jig, we unnerve them with a waltz. If they ask us about apples, we answer with oranges.
Screw ’em. Foam at the mouth and shudder uncontrollably when they’re around, so their prejudices will be reinforced. Drive them further into stark delusion. Let their minds disconnect further from reality.
“I entertain by pickin’ brains” – Elton John, The Bitch is Back
The next frontier for the “pro-life” movement: fetal suffrage.
That can wait, joan. Right now we’re concentrating on fetal suffering.
Oh, and you don’t believe they suffer? Well, give them 10 or 15 years to punch you in the nose for your indifference and you’ll see what female suffering is.
There you have it folks. According to the left, we should all vote in terms of narrowly defined self interest. Who cares about what’s right, what really matters is “what’s in it for me?”
Oh for cryin’ out loud, people !
We all know that CHER is the only celebrity who will ever convince us which party we should belong to and how we should vote.
The sooner everyone knows that, the better.
JDC, it reminds of what happened here in Alberta with our recent provincial election.
(a little background for those who understandably don’t know: the four main parties are the Progressive Conservatives (who really aren’t either of those two), the New Democratic Party (pro-abortion socialists), The Liberals (wafflers to the point of making flags look like steel plate), and the Wildrose (the newest group that showed a lot of promise))
The PC’s have been in power for years, but they were losing popularity for various reasons and just one or two years ago, they seriously alienated much of their voter base when they elected a dedicated pro-abort as their leader. As such, the Wildrose party was making HUGE gains and looked to become the new governing party.
Since the Wildrose was more sympathetic to the pro-life cause than any other party, this naturally made the NDP and Liberal backers nervous, so (again, I must say “reportedly”, since I didn’t hear this personally) they were urging people to “set their convictions aside” and vote PC to stop the Wildrose.
Seriously, democracy fails in well-off countries because it requires people to vote for what’s good and right, not for what’s convenient, popular, or attractive. If history has taught us anything, it’s that the more prosperous a country becomes and the more comfortable its citizens are, the less this is practiced. Too much concern about oneself and not enough about one’s neighbours.
…but it’s better than any alternative that could be expected to work, so I guess we’re kinda stuck with it. If anyone knows of a better workable system, though, do tell.
She picketed a charity that I used to work for in NYC, Covenant House. We are a Catholic charity, and would not give out condoms to the homeless kids as a part of routine/triage health care.
Wow, she picketed Covenant House? That’s a very good program.
All these actors and actresses are certainly entitled to their own opinion, but I think in the voting booth, most people listen to their own conscience, not what some celebrity thinks they should do.
Yeah, because there are no women who make their own money and might benefit from Republican tax breaks,
“If you’re a woman, there is no way you can vote Republican.”
She has it half right, actually. She left out “Or if you’re a man.”
Okay, that’s pretty funny, Hal…
Please Girl! Real Women Choose Life!
The fact is though, Mitt Romney is not Pro-Life, he’s a fruad-so the only thing is either, start pressuring the GOP and FOX to Moneyball the 2012 Primaries and Figure out who the REAL winner would be against Barrack OBAMA, or vote as a write in Campaign. I am working on Obama supporters as well, but the fact of the matter is that Lawyers for Ron Paul are filing suit against the corrupt pro-aborition GOP tactics that hijacked the primaries for Mitt, and shuffled Pro-LIFE, Pro-Sanctity of LIFE act, anti-Supreme court Ron Paul to the sidelines to the best of their efforts. When you have lifenews’ steve ertlett writing for both the Left-Wing Washington Post and LIfe news on Romney’s behalf-you know there are some rogue elements working within the movement to profit GOP bigotry and enforcing the redefinition of what it means to actually be “pro-life.” RP•2012 Eva would vote for Paul-there is no way such celebrities would say such a thing if Ron Paul was on the ticket…. If he was We would have Jon Stewart, Oliver Stone, Bill Maher and many famous others big name tickets promoting him in their media outlets. But no one with any scence of youth or real honesty can really back this two timer who says he is against the Mandate, but then defends the Supreme Court Ruling in favor of it. He says he is against Roe Vs Wade, but that abortion is acceptable in instances of Rape. He says he is against Gay Mairiage, but the he supports legally andorsed Gay Unions. Ron Paul is a constitutionalist–That means he is for scraping Supreme Court Rulings on Federal Issues that overrule the constitution–as in ROE VS WADE-which was an unjust and unconstitutional ruling because it violates the RIGHT TO LIFE of every American.!
The Lawsuits against the Mandate actually ended up reinforcing it’s legality, because now the ONLY way to over turn the law is with the Ron Paul strategy, of dismembering outragous court sanctions and rulings and putting the legal enforcement of the US Constitution back into the hands of the states and their own autonomous lawmaking bodies. States wouldn’t be able to legalize abortion, because it is murder, and therefore unconstitutional-ROE VS. Wade would be nullified by a Ron Paul presidency, EXACTLY 40 years after its initial ruling!!!!!!!! Yes!! And isn’t that the GOAL? He has PROMISED this.
Is it Irony or Coincidence that those bringing the case before the court have actually reinforced our need to nuetralize the Sureme Courts out-of-bounds rulings, thus re-inforcing the need for Paul’s strategy in this critically pivotal time for America.
Republicans need to re-think Mitt Romney before he seals his candidacy up at the convention.
It’s not like how they say it is, that he is the official pick-the primaries will show that Paul will win over Obama, if you can pick through the ashes of what went on these past nine months.
A miracle is not an accident!
¡RP • 2012!
This is a bit off the thread but it occurred to me the other day when I heard that Andy Griffith had died. I thought I remembered hearing that Andy was a big time abortion advocate but I could not remember for sure and wanted to check. I looked around the internet awhile but could not find a reference.
Does anyone know of a site that catalogues the statements of celebrities on the life issues?
Eva ought to be on it…with a whole trail of her published statements. Inquiring minds want to know.
Is she a “Desperate Housewife” and that out of touch with reality that she believes real women can’t make real informed decisions and vote for a Republican? Open mouth, insert finger…
How does being an actress give her any more credibility than, say, the grocery store clerk? Oh, wait! She’s a very important actress! My bad!
But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. 2Co 4.4
Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. Ep 4.17-19
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. Mt 7.13-14
I’m sorry Eva sweetheart, but you are blind, ignorant, deceived and on your way to a devil’s Hell. Jesus said that it would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich person like yourself to enter Heaven.
I implore you on behalf of the One Who shed His Blood for you, cry out to God that He might have mercy on you. By using the platform God has given you to advocate for the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of innocent children in the womb, your hands are covered with their blood. Your agreement with satan’s lies and prenatal genocide will cause you to share in his eternal damnation.
REPENT! WHILE THERE IS STILL TIME!
I wish someone had talked to me about birth control in depth before I started taking it in my youth, but the only questions that Planned Parenthood counselors were interested in were whether or not I had insurance, what my boyfriend was doing for healthcare, and whether or not I was sexually active. Sure, they gave me a questionnaire about my health history, but the nurse didn’t particularly glance at it or ask even one question about it…
Yeah, a little less access to birth control would have been a good thing for me. A little more information, a few more questions, and a little less access could have prevented my miscarriage and years of tension between myself and my husband (then-boyfriend).
too bad Eva seems to have lost touch with her femininity and her heritage.
